Does Dean have the 3 week concussion or the 5 week concussion?

Took 25 seconds for the submit to go through on this last post. Hitting the submit button more times is not the answer.
Re: Defensive Discussion
Damn. Someone really wanted to know about the concussion.

Re: Defensive Discussion
Also Davis played like ass. Absolutely awful.
But would you like to be judged by your worst day?
This is why people talk about the value of short term memory.

Re: Defensive Discussion
Even if we had Bosa, Mack, and Tuipulota I would still want our inside defensive line fixed. The defensive pressure created on the inside is what multiplies the success for the OLB's.
It blows me away that anyone watching the game can see that they have to pass and we can't whup the man in front of us knowing this and it doesnt even matter if the o-lineman was signed two days ago.

So fix Vea and Kancey? Uhh.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 12:09 pm Even if we had Bosa, Mack, and Tuipulota I would still want our inside defensive line fixed. The defensive pressure created on the inside is what multiplies the success for the OLB's.

The announcement of Vea's Pec injury was the beginning of our 4 game slide. He isnt playing like he was the first four games.
Kancey is 5 games 8 tackles with 2 sacks - I think he definitely would wear down playing lots of snaps and for the record so does Vea eating all those double teams.
In my opinion it's plain stupid having Vea the leader of splash plays.
Re: Defensive Discussion
If a coach has lost a locker room that means that most of the players quit on the team and the fans, and I don't want those players anywhere near the team I root for.Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 8:53 pm Maybe I'm old school but I think demanding to fire a HC 1.5 years into his tenure is just wild. Especially 8 games into his regime and staff. Like holy hell, how long will the next guy get?
The only reason to call for a HC head that early is if he's lost the locker room beyond repair. And I don't see anything close to that.
Re: Defensive Discussion
If Bowles and Davis have a one on one - Davis says man these guys ain't helping me out.
If Bowles, Davis, and Dean have a meeting they both say man these guys ain't helping us out.
If this crap keeps on we are going to want another contract extension.
Re: Defensive Discussion
Jenna Laine published a little gem of an article about our defensive woes, which includes the following nugget:
Always reassuring to see that the numbers back up what we see on the field....the Bucs have played more zone this year as a whole. Bowles said it's because they don't have the personnel to play a lot of man coverage.
In zone coverage, they've surrendered 10 touchdowns on 207 dropbacks this year - more than any other team in the league. In man coverage, they've given up three touchdowns on 123 dropbacks - tied for the best mark in the league.
The Bucs' defense has allowed just a 40.7 completion percentage when both outside corners are in press coverage this year - third-best in the NFL - and they haven't given up a touchdown in that category. When neither is pressing, that number jumps (to) 73.3% -- 27th in the league -- and nine touchdowns, 28th in the league.

Re: Defensive Discussion
Just makes you wonder. It has been obvious to my layman eyes they're getting torched in zone. Yet, the madness continues.

Naw boss you know zone aint my thing..
Re: Defensive Discussion
Because you still have to be able to play zone in this league. There's a reason most defenses still play zone coverage most of the time. We need to fix our zone coverages, there's no running away from that. And it starts with benching Ryan Neal.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:02 pm Just makes you wonder. From Graham Barfield at FantasyPoints, teams play zone nearly 75% but the usage of zone coverage “shells” vary from team to team.
The two-high safety zone coverage looks were popularized by now-Dolphins DC Vic Fangio and have been tried, to varying degrees of success, across the league.
While these two-high looks continue to be adopted more, they are largely rooted in Cover-4 and Cover-6 principles. Cover-6 (or Cover-8) combines Cover-2 and Cover-4 to provide more flexibility depending on how the offense aligns its receivers.
Here’s a look at league-wide averages by coverage type.
NFL COVERAGE AVERAGES – 2022 SEASON (FANTASY POINTS DATA)
TYPE AVERAGE
Cover-3 34.0%
Cover-1 (man) 21.7%
Cover-4 15.2%
Cover-2 14.4%
Cover-6 9.7%
Cover-0 (man) 3.1%
Cover-2 (man) 1.9%
These seven coverage types were run on 94% of pass plays last season (goal-line and red-zone coverage were intentionally left out).
Note that the overwhelming majority of man coverage is Cover-1 – a one, high free safety look with one-on-one coverage across the formation.
Cover-3 zone dominates league-wide with over one-third of the coverage snaps. Typically, Cover-3 is a one-high safety look – which can give a nice disguise for Cover-1 – and the strong safety helps against the run.
Base “two-high” safety looks are mostly Cover-2, Cover-4, and Cover-6.
So when people say Bowles runs a lot of man or press man its a lot relative to what is normally done. Not a majority. Never a majority. We need to be great in both man and zone.

Warren Sapp's Instagram post criticizing Devin White is hilarious.
