Sounds like expansion for the CFP to 12 teams was voted down for 2024/2025, next vote will be for the 2026+ seasons.

Big 10 and SEC were most against it.

Good news to some, bad for others.

12 is way, way too many.

I’m thinking 4 is perfect…

I agree 4 is perfect...there are some here that want 16, which to me is against what makes CFB so popular.

Reading on Twitter, some would have voted for 8, but not 12 and others wouldn't have voted for any expansion that included automatic qualifiers for G5 teams.

I guess it has to be unanimous, so I doubt that happens even in 2026.

edit: It appears that the "would have voted for 8 or against G5 qualifiers" are just rumors...Just that some commissioners were more concerned with their path to a championship than expansion...Big10 and SEC specifically mentioned.

This is one of the rumors (combo from multiple sources)...B12 wants 12 with AQ, Pac 12 wants 8 or 12 with AQ. ACC/B1G wants 8 with AQ (won't vote for 12). SEC wants to stay at 4.

No decision on College Football Playoff expansion, per Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “Not even close” to unanimity

12 would be way too many, 8 would be plenty. Or even 6 with 1-2 seeds getting byes.

I think 8 would have been about right.

I'm fine with 4 TBH. I think once you get higher than that, you're risking watering down regular season matchups. I would rather not ever see a 2 loss team in the playoffs.

Would any be good options to target if Godwin leaves?

Can’t go wrong with any. Doubt either are available at pick 32.

This. Would love to get Wilson or Olave even if Godwin in back. Don''t see it happening though. IMHO with Williams going down, they're 1-2 or 2-1 on the WR board.

Everyone should watch Johan Dotson from PSU. He was born to catch passes from TB12 in this offense. Not sure if he'll be there either though.

The money gets pretty damn tight after this season. I’m sure there’s some cap magic to be found.

Do we want to move Earth and Heaven for a guy who could very well miss the entire next season? A season that probably marks the last in this window of contention

According to a report from On3, Manning is believed to be focusing on five major schools at the moment:

Alabama
Clemson
Georgia
Ole Miss
Texas
I believe he’ll go to GA

I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on the internet, but with the recovery times for ACLs now, it seems unlikely he'd miss the whole year. Worst I could see, barring set-back, is the PUP list or whatever it's called until mid-season.

And yeah, we bring him back. I was never against bringing him back, but after seeing him play this year, and seeing how much more difficult things seem without him, he's the priority even with the injury. Pay him, tag CD24. Figure out the rest from there.

Josh Gattis, the guy credited with giving Michigan a “real” offense is leaving UM for Miami (I don’t really agree because I feel UM went full Harbaugh this season on offense and it worked).

He seems pissed too. @Cheb

Image

Lots of speculation per the usual. Gattis was promised HC job. Harbaugh wasn’t communicating clearly to admin about NFL offers or lack thereof. Harbaugh comes back. Gattis gets mad and asks for a huge raise and they don’t do it. Some Michigan fans are saying he was gonna be fired. Lol…

Love the drama. Not even those academics at Michigan are immune.

UM loses both OC and DC after breakthrough season. Neither of them is an HC. Miami is arguably a big step down given recent history.

Strange times.

Late March/Early April (spring practice) is typically when I start doing research about the coming CFB season.

Not feeling the itch at present. NIL, portal, and the general state of CFB is jading me I think

I don't see the appeal of diving into CFB that early outside of wanting to know how spring ball is going for your alma mater.

Notre Dame will open the home portion of the 2023 football season against Tennessee State. It will be Notre Dame’s first game in program history against an FCS program.

Please, please lose that game.

But the committee would probably still put them in.

The NCAA is on death row. Ohio State’s AD is openly talking about dissolving it. I think this could come together really quickly in the next 18 months.

So..... for no particular purpose other than the fact that I am sitting here trying to do work tonight..... but I don't really want to do work tonight..... so I fell down a rabbit hole....

Who gives the best coach rants ever? It seems to be in college. I mean, we know about "playoffs" and all that, but I cannot help but throw my hat in the ring for Dabo. This guy is a master class (second one, start at 2 minutes):

Yes, yes, yes, I'm biased. But I want to see some coach rants. Go!

The American Athletic Conference announced an agreement Friday with Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF that paves the way for the schools to join the Big 12 in 2023

Along with the addition of BYU in 2023, the Big 12 is set to be a 14-team conference for two years.
