Todd Bowles
There is a saying coaches always get the blame when things go wrong and never get credit when things go well. So, I wanted to give a shout out to Bowles and credit for our 2-0 start.
Some will say because he's fighting to keep his job and maybe that plays into it. I feel like he has been engaged, focused and doing a great job of having the team ready to go. He has this team believing in itself and that can't go understated.
We have some tough tests coming up but at the end of the day I think we can say he has been improving.

I can’t help but wonder if he had to do certain things last year a very specific way to please Tom Brady
I said what I said
Re: Todd Bowles
Good for coach for being 2-0. But it’s pretty early for the congratulating

Nah, I think Gisele was a Dark cloud. Filed for divorce the week of game 1...she knew what she was doing.Babeinbucland wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 6:55 pm I can’t help but wonder if he had to do certain things last year a very specific way to please Tom Brady
Lol where did I say congratulations?
Re: Todd Bowles
Shout out, congratulations, you know what I mean.
The teams they have beaten are 0-4. And are likely 0-6 after this week’s games.
The Buccaneers could easily run off three straight losses. I just wouldn’t read too much into anything right now.

Re: Todd Bowles
Given the way things went down it never really felt like Bowles had full control of the team last year. There was this substitute teacher stench.
This year is completely different.

Re: Todd Bowles
Don’t forget 2018 where we riding on a crazy run of Fitzmagic with a 2-0 start and explosive offense just to finish 5-11. Hell, 2-0 last year with more impressive wins on the road just to be an absolute disaster season.
Hopefully this season doesn’t go that way, but I would like to wait until November until we start crowning people.
Re: Todd Bowles
We also had two turn over prone quarterbacks and didn't have the defense we have now. If Baker keeps protecting the rock that ain't happeningMiller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 12:04 amDon’t forget 2018 where we riding on a crazy run of Fitzmagic with a 2-0 start and explosive offense just to finish 5-11. Re: Todd Bowles
That's the rub right there. We are playing defense, staying with the run and playing turnover free football. We aren't showing enough offense yet to be a real contender but we won't suck outright.kaimaru wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 1:07 amWe also had two turn over prone quarterbacks and didn't have the defense we have now. The catch is going to be where the Canales/Mayfield ceiling is and if Bowles meddles with them. Thus far, Bowles has shown a lot of Arians than I would have thought. That 4th down in his own end was not the Bowles I expected.
Re: Todd Bowles
Damn. A lot of Debbie Downers in this thread. OP gives Bowles some credit for two wins and people jump on them like they said we won the Superbowl. My lord people. Sip some Tequila and relax.

Re: Todd Bowles
The teams the Eagles have beaten are also 0-4. Including the Vikings. Maybe the Vikings just got a tough break opening against two tough opponents.
The Bears suck, and we dominated them. That’s what good teams do to bad teams — even if the score made it seem closer than it was at times, they closed it out.
All they can do is play who is on their schedule.
It is early for sure, but this team is already showing to be much better than many (most) expected. Bowles has this defense firing, and is showing a lot of faith in Canales. Kudos to him. Here’s hoping he keeps it up and the team keeps progressing.

How much offense do you need when your defense can hold Mahomes to 9 points?Terry Tate wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:09 amThat's the rub right there. I'm happy for him so far and hope he can keep it up. This week will be a huge test.

Re: Todd Bowles
We've played the Chiefs several times since Mahomes took over there. How many times did we hold him to 9 points and how many times did he score 25+? We just had the benefit of playing our best defensive game of this era in the Super Bowl, which is exactly how we would have planned it lol.Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:24 amHow much offense do you need when your defense can hold Mahomes to 9 points?Terry Tate wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:09 am

The defense is legit but it's not the 85 Bears
Re: Todd Bowles
They were also down their starting tackles.
Re: Todd Bowles
They have D Smith now...

It was not even the 2002 Buccaneers.Terry Tate wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 5:08 pmWe've played the Chiefs several times since Mahomes took over there. Being 0-2 would actually be very understandable. These Are The Days wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:03 amJust miserable. We're 2-0 but we aren't able to draw any conclusions. That is actually true. But if we were 0-2? We'd have all the conclusions we need and everything would be actively on fire.
New QB. New OC. New offense. nearly half of our cap space designated for guys who won't play a snap for us this year.
On fire? Not to anyone paying attention. Those are some very big hurdles but right now it's not impacting us.

While all this is true, it has never stopped us from overreacting. It's probably what we're best at hereBootz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:07 amBeing 0-2 would actually be very understandable. These Are The Days wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:03 am

Re: Todd Bowles
Sample size is a tricky thing. They say a top prospect in baseball needs hundreds of at bats before you know what you’re dealing with. But there are exceptions. If he strikes out in his first 25 at bats. Probably in trouble. If he hits five home runs to start his career in his first five at bats. You’re probably looking at quite a player. These Are The Days wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:03 amJust miserable. We're 2-0 but we aren't able to draw any conclusions. That is actually true. Two games can mean a lot, it can also mean not very much. You have to look at the totality of the situation.

If he can find a way to stop the tush push on 3rd/4th and 1 I'll enshrine him in the Ring of Honor Tuesday morning.

Plan A: don’t let them get there… especially at the goal line.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 2:04 pm If he can find a way to stop the tush push on 3rd/4th and 1 I'll enshrine him in the Ring of Honor Tuesday morning.

Re: Todd Bowles
Be awesome to see Vita personally put an end to that crap.
Also, expected some kind of wrinkle off that play very soon.

Re: Todd Bowles
It's genius if you execute it correctly. Identify the double team, mix up the snap count and cadence, push in the least occupied gap, get lower than your opponent.

Re: Todd Bowles
It's free real estate imo. The tush-push or Philadelphia Sneak or whatever you want to call it is just a variation on an old school wedge play. The only way to stop it is by having your nose(s) create piles, and even then it can get messy.
Re: Todd Bowles
I have no problem with that play and I hope the NFL doesn’t fuck up by getting rid of it
