I wonder what the terms are that are taking into the Bucs consideration? I guess we find out in 4 days if he isn't signed by the end of the day.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 9:48 amhttps://twitter.com/josinaanderson/stat ... 27261?s=21I'm told over the course of talks between both sides, the #Bucs received a contract structure that's acceptable to Mike Evans, and takes Tampa's considerations into account as well, per source.

Here are two more: Larry Fitzgerald had 42 at the same point. He played for one team his whole career.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:31 amHere's another - he played for 4 different teams going after that money.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:47 am
Fun fact: Randy Moss had 43 games of less than 50 yards at the same point in his career, including 1 in the post season.

Depends on where the source of the report is from, right? I imagine if it’s from his agent it’s not in the Bucs’ favor too heavily. Let’s hope he really does want to be here to end his career and they get it figured out.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:49 amI wonder what the terms are that are taking into the Bucs consideration? Larry was getting 11 mil guaranteed a year or less.
This is a media stirred up matter and I never said I want him to go.

It’s not that Randy went after money, more that he was just an asshole and a locker room issue more often than not.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:31 amHere's another - he played for 4 different teams going after that money.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:47 am

The cap was about half of what it is now, too, so it’s all relative.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 12:32 pmDeja Entendu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:58 am

Consideration in NFL contract talk= money. Almost certainly guaranteed money.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:49 amI wonder what the terms are that are taking into the Bucs consideration? I guess we find out in 4 days if he isn't signed by the end of the day.

I was thinking in terms of bonuses if he stays healthy x amount of games. Or any other clauses they want to add.Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:50 pmConsideration in NFL contract talk= money. Almost certainly guaranteed money.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:49 am

Mike Evans ain't signing an incentive laden deal. If he is then he's learned absolutely nothing.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:10 pmI was thinking in terms of bonuses if he stays healthy x amount of games. Or any other clauses they want to add.

Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
We paid VJax at 29.
We should be paying Evans. I appreciate his agents tactics but that deadline is simply bs.
It's sad to see that "Evans slow down" chatter has reached OBP. He still has plenty of prime years left. He'll have to show it out though. Last thing he needs is going into FA off a limp year.
If he shows thought bucs will pay. And he'll take the deal, if its right, and not risk injury the last few games for comparable money.

How about a Bobby Bonilla type deal where we pay him $1 million a year until he reaches a certain age?Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:19 pmMike Evans ain't signing an incentive laden deal. If he is then he's learned absolutely nothing.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:10 pm

Unless Tampa is good for write-offs, I could see the Glazers growing weary of all this.

I think you’re joking, but largely because of the time value of money, for starters.BuccaNOLEer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:36 pmHow about a Bobby Bonilla type deal where we pay him $1 million a year until he reaches a certain age?

Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
When we paid VJax the team was loaded with cap space the point that he wasn’t the only big sigining we made. Comparing it to this situation is not fair because we are literally in a horrible cap situation with more players also up for paydays soon.Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:20 pm We paid VJax at 29.

Bucs back to being Bucs
Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
Jason Licht I'm sure would find a way to come up short in this trade.

I could easily see him do something like a 4th & a 5th and giving himself a pat on the back.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:43 pmIf some team offered less than the Bucs would get in a compensatory pick, Licht would do it in a heartbeat.

Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
I would want a Walker-style trade for Mike.
Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
If Mike said, "I don't care where I go this season, get the best deal" I'd take a 2 and a future 3 that can realistically become another 2. Nobody is sending a 1st for a 30 year old skill position rental player. Christian McCaffrey didn't get the Panthers a 1st and he had a deal. And even if such a thing was possible, the Texans screwed it all up with the D-Hop deal.
If Mike said, "Here's a short list of teams I'll play for" chances are you're doing that deal for a 2nd straight up. Maybe a 2nd and change.

Honestly, this should've been avoided for a number of reasons. From Evans perspective, I don't know what he was thinking back then giving the Bucs a "hometown discount" and then volunteering to re-do his contract to free up money. There should've been some type of quid pro quo there. You don't wait until the 11th 1/2 hour to ask for an extension. That should've happened in March. April. May. June. July.MJW wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 7:13 pm If Mike said, "I don't care where I go this season, get the best deal" I'd take a 2 and a future 3 that can realistically become another 2. Additionally, from the Bucs perspective, you have an elite level player going into their contract year. A savvy GM starts making calls during the combine. With Evans' agents or other GMs if you have no intention of extending him.
No chance Licht comes close to getting an in-season trade for a 2nd, let alone a 2nd & change. Again, Evans is in his final year. He's a FA in mid-march. No team is trading for that. Especially at 30 years old and no promise that he'll sign an extension with them.
Same arguably applies to Devin White except I could see a team being more comfortable trading for a player going into his 2nd contract ala Bradley Chubb & the Dolphins.

Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
Mike sees the vets getting tossed because of money. Larry was smart and took small amounts of hurting the team and it allowed him to keep playing.
Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
The best compensatory pick for a 10 year veteran would be a 5th, so that wouldn't be as bad as you think as both picks would be higher than the compensatoryBootz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:51 pmI could easily see him do something like a 4th & a 5th and giving himself a pat on the back.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:43 pm

Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
Per Mike Evans, they have been working on the deal for over a year. This isn't some last minute issue. They are simply that far apart either in money, guarantees, and/or length of the contractBootz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 7:45 pm

Say Evans balls out like he did 2 years ago, you don't think someone might offer a low 2nd round pick if they are all in?Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 7:45 pm

Trade him at deadline.
Re-sign in free agency.
Re-sign in free agency.
Re: Mike Evans: Final Season in Tampa?
If that's true, then this looks even worse for Evans' and his team. Rule #1 in this business should always be secure the bag. Far apart on a deal? Holdout. Make your demands known. He's going into this season with his future unprotected.kaimaru wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 8:38 pmPer Mike Evans, they have been working on the deal for over a year. This isn't some last minute issue. He's going to end up like LVD returning to this team on a 1 year deal for much less than market value.
