He has definitely looked like a different QB. I’m hoping he can sustain it. He’s playing smart football and busting his ass on the field. I’m cautiously hopeful that he’s finally figured it out.

He’s playing very well.

Next week is a big test.

Do we think this improvement is due to Baker, Canales, random luck?

I think it's been 2 games. We need to still get better. Still a ton of improvement needed from Caneles, Baker, the entire offense.

It's due to everyone trashing this team all off season. They have a chip on their shoulder and want to prove all doubters.

I was impressed at times with how the Buccaneers moved the ball, but disappointed with the RZ efficiency. The running game does look to be improving. I want to see more, but given the short time the OC has with the team the early results are promising. At the same time teams don't have a great deal of 'tape' on this offense or stats on tendencies under Canales.

Fit.

We fit. Baker fits what Canales does. Evens and Godwin fit. The defense and offense fit. Now it's about settling in.

Gonna guess player A is Baker Mayfield, otherwise it would be dumb to post this in a thread about him.

Player B, let's see. Who fell off that badly in 2022 at the end of the year? I have no idea. Jared Goff? Geno Smith?

He sure looked awful last night. I imagine if Browns fans were objective they’d have preferred keeping Baker on a 5th year option and franchise tag in 2023 over this guy for $230M guaranteed and 3 1st round picks. Ouch.

I don’t know if Baker will play well all season. I’m sure we’ll have some stinkers, but I feel much better about our situation than theirs.

Last night he actually looked improved from what he looked like when he returned last season. He was absolutely terrible.

I do feel better now about Baker than I would if I were a Browns fan with Watson. Will it hold up? Time will tell. But for now we're on the right side of things here.

At what point do you start feeling salty as a Browns fan?

Like, I do get it. Putting aside the absolute piece of shit Watson is as a human, as a player the guy is a baller on the field and I'd take 2019 Watson over any Baker all day, understandable. But you have to be damn sure Watson is who you think he is.

I get Watson didn't play much last year but he was there. A whole year. Two offseasons. He looks like he just got off the plane last month.

I imagine they’re pretty salty today. And if they think Baker’s presence hurt their organization then Watson is nuking it.

He has to win and be the reason they win to justify what they gave up for him.

And what they are paying him. They guaranteed his entire contract. So if they trade him, it will be at a fire sale rate and certainly won't get them a top flight starting QB in return.

I think we can all admit that the Vikings and Bears will probably be two of the worst defenses in the NFL at the end of the season. You can only play who's on the schedule, but let's see it on MNF against the class of the NFC. Not demanding a win, but show you belong.

A is Baker I'm assuming his final year in Cleveland. B sounds like Rodgers given the low INT numbers.

Just pointing out to him why Baker isn't in Cleveland and why Watson is. A 16-game sample is better than 7, especially since 6 of the last 7 for Watson was after he'd been out for 2 years.

I know the circumstances of the why from three seasons ago. Which QB would you rather have NOW?

In a vacuum, I'm taking Watson and it's not even close. His ceiling is a top 5 QB where as Mayfield will never be in the top 20. I can NOT win anything with Mayfield, I have a real shot with Watson.

Now, if you want to take everything (baggage and money), into account, I'd rather have Trask. Like I said, I know I can NOT win with Mayfield. I don't know that I can or can not with Trask. Give me the unknown to see what I can learn. Worst case scenario with Trask is a 4-win season where I draft my franchise QB in April. Most likely scenario with Mayfield is that we become what Tennessee has with Tannehill... consistently mediocre. To good to suck, too bad to not win. Once in a while things will go our way and make the playoffs, but get knocked out in round 1 (not even sure that's possible because we don't have a Derrick Henry to carry us).

In neither scenario is Mayfield the best choice. He's just not good enough. We suffered with 4+ years of Freeman and 5 years of Winston. How many of Mayfield to do you need to see? Hard pass.
