Thanks for the write up @Nobody. There’s definitely a reason Diaby didn’t do agility testing and I’m not super thrilled about the pick tbh

Yeah, folks have been trying to catch that Maxx Crosby Speed-to-Power/Longarm/Motor lightning in a bottle with these 4thish round Edges.

But there aren’t many Crosby’s out there (and he had a lot of kit besides that above).

Wypler the C from Ohio State may not be a bad idea to trade up and snag.

Mauch, Jensen, Hainsey, Wypler gives you a lot of versatility in the interior.

Also have my eye on Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson. CB, TCU. Great athlete, but small.

henry to'oto'o, LB from Alabama, is listed on ESPN as the 82nd best prospect. He’s still available 147 pick in. Wonder what’s up.

Sewell off the board. I was hoping for him as a LVD understudy but not trying to jinx it. Shite.

I would’ve been happy with Tune, DTR, Sewell, or Abdullah. All off the board this round. Suffice to say, I’ll be underwhelmed when they draft a kicker soon.

I don't know what ESPN is thinking with that prospect ranking for To'oto'o. After the Devin White stuff, I looked at the mid-round LBers for the most instinctive player with the best cognitive tools + burst + instincts + evidence of coverage ability on tape.

The Bama kid is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down there on the list. He's a physical football player who will stick his face in the fan, work through contact, and fit the run/make plays B to B or Fill/Spill. Outside of that?

He's in the mold of KJ Britt. 5th round player at the earliest IMO.

I'm sorry, but if you can't routinely diagnose plays > get your body into top gear immediately and close > and you don't have coverage instincts/awareness/tools (which includes being aware of and acting upon your responsibilities while going backwards...not just going forward)? You don't belong being drafted in the first 3 rounds as a LBer in the modern NFL.

Too many LBers still getting drafted that are tone-setting thumpers or run-and-chase players without an instinctive bone in their body (which makes their effective play speed a hell of a lot consequentially slower, because they're slow to react or they're out of position, than they grade out as in underwear).

Bucs take the Pitt ILB.

Classic example of scouting one player (Kancey) and noticing the guy next to him might be a good player too.

Funny you mention that, because I noticed SirVocea Dennis when I was watching Kancey stuff after we drafted him. Never heard of him prior to yesterday morning when I looked him up real quick.

Apparently he tested well at his pro day. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds, hit a 41.5 inches on the vert and 10-foot-5 on the broad jump. He's undersized at 6'1" and 226lb, but dude is an athlete. If nothing else, this will add depth and help special teams.

How does the NFL decide the draft order for compensatory picks?

It certainly isn't based on your previous season record.

This is all the NFL says...

As for the compensatory picks awarded that were not based on coaching or executive hires, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks, per the league. The compensatory picks are positioned from Round 3 to Round 7 based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost. The formula that determines compensatory free agents is based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.

...but it doesn't give any formula for determining the weight given for salary/playing time/postseason honors. And salary is so subjective. A team that is a better negotiator and negotiates a better deal is given a lower draft order because a team that sucked at negotiating overpaid for the player they lost? In essence, a team is rewarded a higher pick for sucking at negotiating salaries?

Oh well. They had to come up with some way to measure this I guess.

By the new contracts that your outgoing free agents get, compared to the free agents you sign.
