Rays are one of the three best run orgs in North American pro sports.

It’s truly insane what they produce at the money they spend.

Wouldn't explain allowing 18 runs in 9 games, including I think 3 shutouts.

Nah that's just good pitching. I just can't remember when we'd launch 2-5 hits into orbit seemingly every game for 9 games

I swear I say that every day now. It was fun at first being able to like look in on my lunch breaks and catch an inning or two and now it's just like "They hit 3 more home runs after that 4-0 lead?" and I just stare in disbelief that it is entirely possible come playoff time they just could suffer a no no

I think as long as the core player of this offense stays healthy, Franco, the Rays will have no problem getting 4-5 runs a game.

But what's impressive that everyone has been in on the action. 11 players have hit at least 1 HR. For perspective, 23 teams have 11 HRs or less total so far. These haven't been the usual Kevin Cash "Swing and miss" Rays either. Fewest strikeouts so far on the year.

This series against Boston is going to be telling. I'm just glad the Rays have won these games because some sort of slump is going to be inevitable and they've bought themselves a lot of breathing room. So often their problem has been that they can wipe the floor with teams like Toronto and NYY but then come the games that should be a gimme against a team that might win 73 games all year... And they don't. I honestly can't remember the last time I stayed up for a series in Seattle. It just doesn't go well usually

The season is far too long for you to not have slumps or down days. That's the nature of baseball.

Question is what would you say would be more "disappointing" in the Rays 1st loss? Something like a 1-0 shutout or a 10-9 loss?

Either result will be disappointing so it's hard for me to pick which would be worse. But knowing it's coming will take most of the sting out of the loss because it is inevitable. As much as I'd love to see them beat the record of 13 wins to start a season, that just seems like too much to ask for. They'd have to sweep the Red Sox. Sure...it's possible, but we all know that is highly unlikely.

A 1-0 shutout for me. That's the way it's always been for me. I've always been of the mindset that a lone player masters the defense from the mound having to face 9 different guys. At the same time that offense has 9 guys with equal opportunity at the plate. Get a damn hit. Find a way. Unless you ran into peak Randy Johnson or something, the list of valid reasons are much shorter. But if you DO run into a guy like that just eat the L with grace and realize the most dominant force in sports is a pitcher having himself a night like that.

An argument can be made for a goaltender like Dom Hasek back in the day as even more unstoppable but it's a different discussion.

Personally I'd rather see a 1-0 loss. At least then I'd know Cash isn't running throught the bullpen like it's toilet paper.

This run has been very fun. But not even the Rays expect to go 162-0. I just hope they stack up Ws before they hit a very rough May schedule. They play the Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, Jays and Mets.

He tend to do that to 5th rotation all the time. More power to him I guess.

That was main reason why the Rays lost playof series

Remember Blake Snell? Yeah exactly

Anyone going to any of the Sox games here? I'm considering tonight but it's gonna depend on if I'm able to catch a nap once I'm off work

If I lived down there, I wouldn't go just for the fear that the day I decided to go would be the day their streak ended. That would be a huge bummer to watch that live. I'd rather wait until after they lose a game before going at this point. :D

No one wants to say this:
Hey! I finally got to go to a Rays game. I got to see their consecutive wins to start a season steak end. Sweet, right?

That doesn't hang me up too much fortunately. With the pitch clock I may not have this problem ever again. My issue has been I've twice gone to a game after work and being up since 4am like today. I get some dogs and fries in me, I'm nice and relaxed in my seat and suddenly at some point I realize I made a huge mistake getting too comfortable. Then it all wants to hit at once and it's like "crap I gotta drive back too" and you live 40 minutes away. You're just slowly disengaging one pitch at a time because you're realizing this game could go on for a hot minute and your attention span is enough to stay awake well past 24 hours but is reduced to about enough awareness to drive home. A guy strikes out and you're like "Wait that was 3 outs?"

Reminds me a lot of Garza. The fastball pops and has good late action on it. And he throws it a lot. And he has some good secondary tools. I'm excited to see what he does as well.
