So, other than Notre Dame (of course) and Tulane, they don't see any other schools outside of the Power 5 being ranked?

Oddly enough, history says it's virtually impossible for a team to climb from unranked all the way into the top 4.

Oddly.

Heh.

The reference was in relation to non-power 5 teams. They won't be boarding wins over Ohio State, Penn State, or nearly anyone else worth talking about. Could Vandy shock the world and get in if they run the SEC table? Absolutely. Could SMU get in if they go unbeaten and smash the entire AAC? If they started out as #2, maybe. But not when coming from unranked.

Hallelujah!!
Well, it turns out Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh won't miss the first four games of the 2023 season.

According to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, Harbaugh's agreement with the NCAA is now off the table. Instead, his case will go the Committee on Infractions.

The NCAA is on borrowed time. They can eek out more by bending the knee like this.

I didn't realize how relatively soft Georgia's schedule looks. You never know, but damn. They should be double-digit favorites in every game they play.

Yup, agreed

I keep hearing Carson Beck is 10x better than Bennett

We’ll see how good is Georgia without Stetson Bennett

That team down south have major quarterback problem. Ryan Day admit he doesn’t know who will start at week 1

They've got a tough road schedule. Aside from the opener, they've got road games at Clemson, Pitt, and Wake. And Florida always is a tough game even though they look like pushovers this season.

Welcome back again

I think it’s good idea .. It's like Michigan is saying to NCAA, "Okay, you rejected our offer of a 4 game suspension. That's no longer on the table. It’ll prevent from NCAA to suspend Harbaugh more than 4 games for simple cheeseburgers?

3 games to start the season against East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green

Given its the NCAA and how arbitrary they are … they may be insulted by the gesture and increase what they are going to throw down eventually.

Too tough for the Noles, I'm hoping. But that goes both ways, FSU is no creampuff for LSU, either.

That said, Geaux Tigers!

Though I do wish this game was later in the year, here's to a good game with no injuries!

Wish your Tigers luck this year.

Go FSU :)

I really, really like Notre Dame's running back, Estime. Old school shit-kicking runner, reminds me of the backs I grew up watching on the Steelers.

I was watching the Notre Dame vs Navy game at the gym today, and Estime looked pretty good. He plays bigger than his size, a trait which I always admire. Dude's still young as well so his game has room to grow.

A guy to watch to be sure.

These questions are a slippery slope, MJW, and you're too clever with far too long a memory to not put pieces together.

ND has some real potential this year. Hartman is a very solid college QB. Their RB's are good. Their OL seems good. They will need a receiver or two to step up. Pretty untested out there.

it's tough to assess the defense when they play against the option but they certainly were disciplined.

I'm worried about the Buckeyes going to South Bend.

I like Hartman, but from what I've seen of him, he has a habit of letting one bad thing turn into six or seven. And then twelve. That leads to at least 1-2 stinkers per season, and that won't get them the playoffs. Then again, I'm judging him by his play with a lesser supporting cast, where he would try to "fix" his mistakes by forcing miracles, so we'll see how things go on a stronger team where he can trust their ability to just play from behind.

Fair enough!

I don't watch college football, I watch draft prospects. I dunno. Maybe it's because I grew up rooting for shitty Syracuse teams and then came to Nebraska exactly when THEY got shitty. But I've never had much use for the sport beyond the draft aspects.
