Nobody wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:44 pm Some of it depends upon if Brady and the coaching staff are back.

My lean at this point is a “nope.”

Given the FAs we’re going to have, the priority of CD3, the available cash, the unknown Godwin situation, the injury propensity of Whitehead (not because he’s soft but mostly because of his brand of play)…

It makes it hard for me to imagine he comes back. Even with Edwards, they’d certainly like to have Whitehead back because they can play DB heavy packages. But, put it all together and I’d say well south of a coin flip’s chance.
Your post highlights that changes may impact FA decisions. If there is a change at HC or DC will the defense be the same? Will they value the positions the same? I really think this will be an interesting off-season.

Brate could tie Jimmie Giles next week for the 2nd most TD receptions in Buc history with 34.

Apparently our game vs Carolina is flexed to 4:25?

We got to pull together real tight now. If we protect Tom, I think he can do well with these receivers we got now.

Perryman and Grayson add juice to the routes.

Shame the Saints are so dirty and targeted Godwin's knee. Losing AB would be pretty irrelevant had the Saints not intentionally injured Chris.

I've been trying to get him traded for about 3 years, but he's quietly had quite a good career, especially for an UFA. I really think he's going to be a key guy if we make a run.

I would label him as high value, the kind of player that gives you time to work out your contract problems.

Of course you do need to hit in the draft and those options never seem to easy for us. It's why I always look for maybes. I don't care how many times Bootz says "who", if that player can give us valued snaps it's good for the team.

I’m guessing they made a Civil War era 16 inch incision.

Which fairly recent WRs have had an injury similar to Godwin and made a full recovery?

Julian Edelman tore his ACL in 2017 preseason and missed the entire season. Came back the next season at age 32, had same YPR and won super bowl MVP. Then the following season played 16 games and had 1100 yards- a career high.

Godwin is young and these ACL/MCL reconstruction procedures are are almost routine, similar to UCL (Tommy John) in baseball).

Combine that with the rehab programs these top tier athletes have and it's no wonder that we see many come back better than they were before.

But it does still take time and hard work to make it back, no way around that when you're replacing structural ligaments in your knee or elbow.

Assuming everything goes as planned, I wonder if Godwin will be good for Week 1 or if he's going to be a late addition due to recovery and whatnot.

That's encouraging considering his age.

Good news on Godwin, was curious if he would have it before or after the holidays. Sometimes better to wait for swelling to go down. I have no doubt he’ll make a full recovery and hope we get him back on the team next year.

I seriously hope people aren't really concerned about ACL tears in 2022.

Courtland Sutton comes to mind. He tore his ACL early last season. Came back this year, has played well, and signed a 4 year $61mil contract extension.

These injuries are routine as they come and occur almost weekly in the NFL.

What’s the primary incentive for winning the next game? What’s the downside in giving all these old vets a game/half off? They know how to win. We still get practice

We could lose a shot at the 2 seed if the Rams lose and resting starters never seems to work out for the playoffs...I doubt the stats actually back that up, but it seems like the narrative.

Primary incentive for winning is a guaranteed #3 seed, potential #2 seed if San Fran beats LA.

Downside if we lose is potentially falling to #4 if Dallas wins and LA loses. That's a Wildcard matchup against Rams or Cardinals depending on the result of the Cardinals vs Seahawks game.

Not going to Lambeau until the NFCCG. Possibly snagging an extra playoff game in Ray Jay.

In terms of rushing yards Ronald Jones is now our 10th all time RB, passing the great Earnest Graham.

With a rushing TD today he ties Warrick Dunn with 19, If he gets two he ties Carnell Williams. If he scores 3 rushing TD's he ties Reggie Cobb.

Well darn, he boo booed his ankle - there goes this story!

13-4

Tied for the best record in the NFL

#2 NFC seed

Still 21-4 in the last 25 games since last year's bye week.

It's been a great ride, 4 to go!!!

Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 29-of-37 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns, earning a 130.4 passer rating. Brady joined Drew Brees as the only players in NFL history with 5,000-or-more passing yards in multiple seasons. He is also just one of five players in NFL history to record 5,000+ yards, 40+ touchdowns and a passer rating above 100.0 in NFL history. Three of the other four players won MVP in that season.
Some strong stats for the MVP argument. I personally think that if anyone other than Brady wins MVP that the voters got it wrong. I think Brady performing despite constant injuries to his WR corp puts him over the top versus Rodgers.

In 2018 we really messed up by not picking Jordan Mailata, instead we picked injured Jack Cichy.
