Moment shouldn’t dictate the outcome of whether it’s a penalty or not. It’s like saying an obvious facemask should be overlooked because of the moment there.
What makes people look like fools is arguing with the player who admitted he committed a penalty.
I am mixed on it, but it is what it is. We move on, but it’s something that referees could take a look at and discuss for future SBs. Like I said, the NHL officiates differently in the playoffs than they do the regular season.

So the player involved in the play says it was a hold but your argument is that it shouldn't have been called due to circumstances. You keep going with that.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:00 pmDoesn't make it a good call. It's one of those calls that was technically holding, but not normally called. Well....I found one guy:
"Eagles CB James Bradberry on crucial third-down penalty: 'It was holding'"
I'm not sure who this guy is but he obviously did not watch the play.

There are holds on every play. Someone posted multiple clips of the same thing in the game that weren't called. If they were called consistently, people would have less issues with that call.Four Verticals wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:19 pmSo the player involved in the play says it was a hold but your argument is that it shouldn't have been called due to circumstances. Again, it's technically a hold, but something that the league does such a poor job with consistency, when it is called people get mad.

For me, the calls have to be consistent throughout the game. I have issues with the idea that when it comes down to the end of the game we should 'let them play'. Either way, a call or no call will screw one team or the other. If the calls have been consistent all game then each team KNOWS what is going to be called and what is not going to be called.
You are forgetting the fact that now the NFL has earbuds in all these ref's, telling them what and how to think.

No. But that’s more black and white. But I disagree on the moment aspect because I think it should play a role on certain calls. I think you let them play more in a moment like that unless it’s a really clear black and white. Now the Saints-Rams game a few years ago…that was clear black and white and it didn’t get called. Again, that’s juts my opinion. I think some refs call it, but others don’t. I see both sides of the argument.King Bootz wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:18 pmMoment shouldn’t dictate the outcome. I bet there were over a hundred NFL people with headsets on talking to a higher level that talks to the refs.

Not every ref in a crew is going to see the same thing the same way. It's possible that another ref sees nothing with this play. This same ref may have called similar plays earlier in the game in a similar fashion. I don't think it was a hold but it shouldn't have been called is a great point to argue.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:23 pmThere are holds on every play. Refs have 1 job in a game that’s this subjective and fluid:
Be consistent.
They weren’t at the worst possible time.
Be consistent.
They weren’t at the worst possible time.

OK, I confess. It was me talking to the refs who told them to throw that flag for holding. I also sprayed the field with Pam Cooking oil to make the field slippery. And just to make sure the outcome of the game was never in doubt, I sprayed the football that Hurts fumbled with the same Pam Cooking oil. Not to mention I stabbed that Eagles defensive lineman in the backside with a pin to make him jump offside.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:34 pmKing Bootz wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:28 pm

I'm fully willing to debate that in that situation, with those stakes, with as ticky-tack as the penalty was, if it's the best thing for the game, the (non KC) fans, or the league that it was called. I say no. The last thing the league needs, or we want, is 99% of the post-Superbowl discussion being about a call.

If it's not called, the discussion is still likely about that call. Especially if the Eagles win. People just love to complain and have something to bitch about. It's human nature to be miserable.
