Wow, nice haul so far.
Bucs’ 2023 Draft Capital Following The Shaq Mason Trade
March 14th, 2023
With starting right guard Shaq Mason now a member of the Texans (sorry, Shaq), the Bucs’ draft board has changed. Here are the current picks — and some pertinent information:
Round 1: No. 19 Overall
Round 2: No. 50
Round 3: No. 82
Round 4: No. 121 (dealt to Jaguars for 2022 picks)
Round 5: No. 153
Round 5: No. 175 (compensatory pick)
Round 6: No. 179 (from Houston in pick No. 230 swap today)
Round 6: No. 181 (from Colts in Grant Stuard trade)
Round 6: No. 186
Round 7: No. 230 (from NY Jets in Steve McLendon trade)
Round 7: No. 252 (compensatory pick)

[/quote]
Reads kinda weird… we don’t have a 4th rounder.
Any way we can turn these late picks into 2024 ammo for Caleb? Kidding but…

Less than ideal
From home games in Florida to home games in upper NY? Yikes! That would take a lot of getting used to.

In the shadow of Baker we re-signed Anthony Nelson.

Well at least he gets to go out a Buccaneer, even if it is on a losing team.

I can’t believe there wasn’t a big market for a top 5 LB. Crazy.

I seriously love Lavonte, we are so fortunate to go from Brooks to him.

There's a big market for top 5 LBs who make splash plays. Not ones who just make the get their assignment correct.
If LVD was still doing what he did say his 1st 2 years, there'd be a major market for him. But he hasn't been that guy since Schiano left.

I'll say it again about Todd Bowles. These guys want to play for him.

It would definitely appear that way. Shows what we know about Bowles command of the locker room, or at least defensive guys between Dean, David and Nelson coming back on somewhat friendly deals.

Not the news I was expecting
He's not what he use to be, but he can still pick up 2 yards on 4th & 1 and score in the red zone.

Licht deserves credit for being able to keep Lavonte, Dean and Nelson while still adding a veteran QB to compete with Trask. If he keeps Mike Edwards that would be a massive win, but I’m not sure on that one.

Our new RB coach came from Dallas and the Bucs have told agents they like Zeke for the familiarity in coaching according to Stroud.

Zeke is too old…but he’s an upgrade from Fournette.

I think this has been a terrible offseason so far and signing Zeke would be pretty consistent with the rest of the moves.

I think their moves indicate that they think they can still compete even though they clearly can’t. They’re going to pay the bill of the Brady years by fielding cheap QBs but to me, that’s a half measure. I would have preferred they let David walk to a contender, traded Evans for 2024 picks, and let Dean sign elsewhere to get a 2024 comp pick.
I don’t see what it accomplishes to try to be competitive with no real chance to win the Super Bowl or set yourself up for the future.

To add, their off-season seems more geared towards keeping their jobs with pseudo-competitiveness than setting the team up for success.
