As is Aaron Rodgers. Looking at his contract, he'd be very affordable with a trade considering what we'd be getting. I hope we scratch the surface there.
Can you just imagine Rodgers coming here in 2023 and winning an SB? The sports world would lose its collective mind.
It would. I think those who thought Bowles should be fired and that the Bucs should've tried to "tank" in 2023 would have to be committed. I'm here for it.

I consider this type of talk NSFW. Don’t get me excited.

I'm kind of foaming at the mouth for Rodgers now. I mean the Bucs getting Brady then Rodgers is just such an NFL script type occurrence... Rodgers would almost be better for this team than Brady was by adding some mobility/escapability

He's already interviewed with the Jets. To this point, it seems they are the only team to have reached out.

Bowles, Monken, and Mayfield seems like a pretty good plan for getting Caleb Williams to me.

How do yall plan on acquiring Rodgers and still fielding a defense? That would be cool, but it’s a pipe dream.

Also, the Packers wouldn’t trade him here even if we could make it work. Remember when they took a worse offer for Favre from the Jets instead of trading him where when Gruden was trying to go after him? All the reports I’ve seen indicate they won’t take any offers from the NFC and the Jets are probably the favorite again.

Just show him how much more fun he will have in Florida than Wisconsin. He will likely agree to a vet minimum contract. Oh, wait... he is a pompous ass. Never mind.

With what salary cap? We would have to cut the entire team and MAYBE then can we afford him

What's the max trade compensation and contract you'd be willing to offer for Lamar Jackson?

Murray - five-year, $230.5m extension. $160m guaranteed.

Wilson - five-year, $245 million contract extension that includes $165 guaranteed

Rapist - 5 year, $230,000,000 contract. $44,965,000 signing bonus. $230,000,000 guaranteed.

Framework seems obvious. Though the Rapist’s contract shouldn’t be seen as the norm. Factor in a bit of inflation and you’re set.

Those seem reasonable.

Now how many draft picks you giving up for Jackson?

Three #1s and some change?

Three years is a long time to go without a first round pick.

Still don't know why you posted this in the Bucs/Falcons game day thread 3 days after the game. But hopefully you had a foreshadowing of the future.

We don’t have the money for Jackson. So that’s not even on my radar. Even if we did have “some” money, the Falcons would outbid us. They’re loaded with cash and draft picks. We just have to hope Atl doesn’t get him.

It’s sad to say this, but of all the realistic options out there, Sam Darnold may be our best option. Jimmy G sounds like he’s going to go to the loser of the Aaron Rodgers bidding war (Jets or Raiders). Panthers will outbid us for Carr. Mike White might be good option but don’t know enough about him yet. And hell no to Baker Mayfield. As for the draft, there’s better qbs in 2024.

You may be right about the falcons outbidding us, but we all need to stop with the “we don’t have cap space” myth.

We can get to $60-70 million in the black if we choose to. And in the event we got Jackson, we’d be going all in on cap manipulation to make the roster as strong as possible.

Chances are we do that regardless.

I mean, yeah we can, but you’d have to dump all our best players just for a quarterback who has had issues staying healthy. Plus you’d prolly have to trade for him and there are teams like Atl who have friendlier trade options than we do.

I’m more for being aggressive with getting Jimmy G even though I don’t think we will land him. But it’s a more realistic option. Or we could go with Trask, “tank” the season, and get a great pick in 2024 and draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

We can’t genuinely think we’re any better off with Jimmy G than Trask, right?

Rodgers
Lamar/Carr
Mayfield/Darnold
Trask/Gabbert/Jimmy G

I guess if we want to write off Trask entirely and tank 2023 Jimmy G would be a decent option

I remember my short list for Arain QBs in 2020 was Brady, Brees, Carr, Teddy, Winston.
We obviously went after Tom. We have reports that we liked Teddy. If we don't go back to Winston that would leave Carr.

Obviously, all that is form an Arians era long past. But if I'm right, it may still stick in JL mind. And if the new OC is on board, Carr could be it. Especially if he's just a straight-up free agent.

If Arians is still making these decisions at this point, this franchise is in deeper shit than we realize. The OC interviewees should be discussing the position with Licht and Bowles. Licht and Bowles should move forward with the hire all one the same page about the position. No worthwhile OC candidate should be getting told who his quarterback will be by the "Senior Advisor" or whatever Arians is calling himself. Anybody who'd take the job under that condition has no future in this league.

And let's head on down the road
