Is that even Baker Mayfield in that photo?
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
The column in that graphic only allows for two digits….

Well that sure kills certain narratives.Cheb wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 2:21 amOver the last three seasons, Baker is tied for 12th in the league in interceptions thrown at 29 picks over that span. Mayfield shares that tie with Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, and Dak Prescott, and he's played in more games than any of those three dudes -- put another way, Baker has a better games-to-picks ratio than all those 100+ million dollar players over the last three years.
I chose optimism here, at least from a ball security perspective, and the last three years back that up. Not great, but not near as bad as that graphic would make it seem.
Here's another nugget; Tom Brady threw for more picks than Baker Mayfield did in the past three years.

Yes that's a real Baker photo

Picks are fine if you’re tripling them in thrown TDs lol.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 6:25 pmWell that sure kills certain narratives.Cheb wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 2:21 am

Brady had 108 TDs and 33 INTs in Tampa.
Baker had 53 TDs and 29 INTs during that time.
Brady’s INT% was like has his during that time despite playing in the most aggressive passing offense during most of that period.

The other three didn’t triple their picks with TDs.
Lamar, who I think all agree is the best of the others named, was 59 TDs to 29 INTs during that same period.

PS Tom Brady is unequivocally the greatest QB of all time. He isn’t a benchmark.

This is a pretty great point. Baker Mayfield might be the second best QB we’ve ever had in Tampa.Deja Entendu wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 10:26 pm PS Tom Brady is unequivocally the greatest QB of all time. He isn’t a benchmark.

You can't use Lamar as a comparison. He just doesn't play the same game as any other QB. I mean, he won MVP with a little over 3k passing yards.

Any word on the RoH inductee? I would honestly just do Brady and get it over with, especially since they threw Arians in immediately.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
My friend’s take who works with UGA sports (when I asked him about Rodrigo Blankenship):
“If he’s healthy, he’s really good. He hit some big kicks for us to win the Rose Bowl over Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield and if we didn’t lose the national championship in 2017-18, he would be remembered for hitting the 53-yard game-winning kick
in overtime but then Alabama had a Hail Mary to beat us”

White at mini camp. Bowles says his mind is right. Looks like he's accepted his fate for 2023 at least. Now just got to ball out and stay healthy.

What happens to void years if/when a contract extension is offered and accepted?
Don't tread on me
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Right now @Cheb the Rams and their 14 draft picks are the NFL's youngest team.
We are 16th.
We are 16th.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I believe the void charge gets spread over the life of the extension instead of all being charged in 2024. Kind of confirms that both will in fact be given extensions, although AWJ is a 1 contract player in my estimation. You don't pay undersized safeties with concussion issues.
Most hated man in America.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
At the same time, that undersized safety with concussion issues is incredibly assignment sound, a fantastic tackler, a great culture guy, and debatably the best safety we've had since John Lynch left the building 20 years ago.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 10:19 amI believe the void charge gets spread over the life of the extension instead of all being charged in 2024. I agree with you that Antoine may concuss his way to an early retirement, but that doesn't mean we should be afraid to have him on the team or sign him to an extension.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
LB Lavonte David insinuated on Wednesday that Tampa Bay’s throwbacks for 2023 may not look like they have in the past.
Darker creamsicles?
Or
Something like this?
https://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/12 ... nt=3344775
Tampa Bay’s creamsicle uniforms are making their return in 2023, but they may not be the same as fans remember them.
LB Lavonte David, the only player who has worn Tampa Bay’s famed orange throwback jerseys currently on the roster, was asked about the throwback uniforms the Bucs are planning to wear against the Lions on Oct. 15. His answer to that question was rather intriguing.
“I love it. I love it,” David said. “I got a little glimpse of them. They’re not like the ones I wore in 2012 at all… You should be in for a surprise. They’re really nice and I definitely like the way they look.”
David used some interesting verbiage here. He mentions that they aren’t like the jerseys he wore in 2012 “at all”, which is notable — the ones he wore in 2012 against the Saints were almost a one-to-one adaption of the ones Tampa Bay wore until 1996, so that phrasing seems to indicate these could be different. David later mentions a “surprise,” which would seem to go against Buccaneers promotional material where the team stated the throwback game would be a tribute to their past era with “retro field stencils, stadium bunting and video board assets.”
Tampa Bay is keeping these uniforms close to the vest, so we won’t know for sure what Lavonte means until they are officially revealed.

I’m thinking and hoping it’ll be these:
Wearing the original concept jersey would be cool. I would save that (and the original white with orange numbers) for the 50th anniversary in a few years.

The major change coming from the Bucs will be a whole new group of participators in the art of tackling and making plays. Or should I say forthcoming opportunities to do so.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
The youth injection presents a potent paradigm shift in the organizational synergy. A true potential to impact the zeitgeist in ways not seen since the Alden incident of 1949.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Our defensive backfield experience of Winfield, Davis, and Dean all have trouble of putting in a full season, so right there is a door for making the most of your chance. Replacing Gholston's reliability is possibly more than one door for chance.
Would especially love to see the linebacker group step up this season.
Put them to work and stop having dead wood sitting on the roster.
