I don't know what any of you think an RoH is, but I think it's a way for teams to honor players and coaches that played a significant role in their team's history which I take that to mean that a team's history can't be adequately told without talking about a particular player or coach.

Based on that, I'd have a hard time including McCoy regardless of the personal accolades he received while playing for the Bucs. While personal awards can be part of the decision, it certainly shouldn't be the sole metric to use when considering RoH worthiness. Can the Bucs story be told without mentioning McCoy? I think it can. Hence, my excluding him from this particular honor.
I disagree with you.

Every Buc who has made six or more Pro Bowls as a Bucs is in the Ring... except McCoy. McCoy is third in team career sacks despite constant double teams. For a long stretch of time, most NFL fans couldn't name a current Buccaneers player who wasn't a joke, except Gerald McCoy.

Is Gerald the best Buc in team history, no. But he's right up there with Giles and Gruber in the same category, and I WOULD argue that you couldn't tell the story of the Buccaneers without talking about McCoy. Something like:

"The long years between their two Superbowl wins were mired by mediocrity, a second Dark Age of Buccaneer football echoing the first that began with the decline of the Selmon years and ended with the arrival of Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin. But just like in that first dark age, there were bright lights to be seen in the gloom. As Ricky Bell and Jimmy Giles and Paul Gruber were spotlights of talent in their time, so was Gerald McCoy in the years prior to the resurgence of the Buccaneers as one of the top teams in the NFC.

*Insert McCoy career synopsis as a dominant defender of his era, which isn't hard to do.*"
It's certainly okay to disagree. Thanks for doing so respectfully. :D

I'm sure those long years of sub-mediocrity after the first SB has jaded me somewhat when it comes to players and coaches of that era.

With that said, I'll conclude with this... I certainly won't be upset if GMC is added to the RoH and I will add my congratulatory remarks when/if he does.

Former Jaguars’ WR Marvin Jones announced that he is returning to the Lions, the team he played for from 2016-2020. He is signing a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with the Lions, per source.

I also liked WFT better, but Commanders does make sense. Home of the Commander in Chief.
For that matter, Guardians does, too. Named after the city's Guardians of Traffic statues.

Just call them the Washington Wolves and be done with it. You don't necessarily need red in it but there are red wolves I suppose. Keep the Native American theme. There's nothing wrong with it if you do it respectfully and with honor. Wolves are well regarded, respected, loved and pretty badass to boot.

I liked Mac Jones coming out of college... but I wouldn't like trading our first rounder for him.

Do we really think that Mac Jones is going to give us anything that Baker or Trask couldn't do? I doubt it. I would much rather spend that first rounder on an offensive tackle to keep our quarterback upright, or a starting safety due to the fact that AWJ is basically by himself in the safety room, or an edge talent to address that perilously thin group. We cast the dice with Baker in regards to a veteran retread; doing it twice in the same off-season would be very close to stupid -- if we believed in one of those two veteran retreads, why bring in the other and waste his time and ours?

And that's without even talking about the money. We have about $2 million in cap space right now, and we need about $10 million just to sign our rookies. We will need even more money to make in-season moves and sign udfas and the like. We have only like three cards left to play in regards to making money:

1 - Restructure or extend Mike Evans and/or Shaq Barrett, which would result in $10-ish million in space for either dude.
2 - Extend Devin White for $8 million in savings if we backload his contract.
3 - Trade or cut a starter and eat a shitton of dead money while simultaneously creating a gaping hole in the roster.

Making the first two moves would be smart, and I would expect them to happen sooner rather than later. Maybe we only do two outta three, so now we're somewhere around $18-20 million in cap space prior to our rookies, so down to $10M after that.

And how much would Mac Jones cost on his current contract this year? $4.25 million, so almost half of that theoretical cap space. And our first round pick, to boot.

Lemme change my vote. I move from a "No" to a solid "Oh God Please No."

They should have signed Baker Mayfield. As I understand it, he's going to bust out in year six and team four.

Also, we're really going to go with "An anonymous source told the NFL's biggest shameless rumor monger (and apparently nobody else) that Belichick shopped Mac Jones" as fact? We haven't learned better after 20 years of PFT?
