They ran a very basic, boring offense under him. They simply executed it very well. Heavy run offense, especially on 1st down which people hate here. Lots of deep passes.

No kidding, he’s that good. I don’t know why Mike McCarthy let him go.

Same reason we let Leftwich go. The offense is very throwback.

Only thing I can think of is they think he’s getting a HC job and want to start the search. Denver may hire him as Hc.

To the tune of 3rd most points in the league. If we'd scored 27 PPG, Leftwich would still be here.

And that’s with Dak Prescott at qb. He is a very good OC.

Kyle can do many things. Protect his QBs is not one of them.

And it's gonna take him a while to come back completely from this. Ben wasn't right for a while

Torn UCL for Purdy. Bet they go after Brady following this QB debacle.

That Oline got exposed yesterday. They'd better focus there before thinking about adding a 46 year old QB.

Since you're a 9ers fan I guess I'll defer to your views on the Oline, but don't they kind of get a break since Purdy went out so early and the Eagles could just stack the box and attack without fear of repercussions?

Eagles had 13 pressures on 18 QB dropbacks by the Niners. The right side has always been a letdown. McGlinchy has been beaten up for his career and it seemingly has taken it's toll.

A lot of this is also scheme. Kyle routinely tries blocking edge rushers with RBs & TEs. It's no mistake that Jimmy has been beaten up quite a bit while in San Fran. Lance was hurt in both of his seasons. And Purdy had this injury as well. AND Josh Johnson got hurt as well. Kyle's scheme does not do a good job of protecting the QB. You think Brady wants to sign up for that?

Those are fair points. I guess Kyle would have to adjust some things to protect Brady more.

Seems like a lot to give up for a coach, but Payton is damn good so maybe worth. I think he should've sat this season out so next year he could freely choose a team without the Saints being involved.

But if Wilson still sucks, this is going to be an ugly return to football for Sean.

The Broncos are quickly becoming one of those bad organizations that do bad things. Read an article yesterday that they had a list of 8 candidates they were seriously considering. They immediately said "thanks no thanks" to 4 of the 8 (Jim Caldwell, Raheem Morris, Ejiro Ervo, David Shaw). Dan Quinn said he was staying in Dallas. Jim Harbaugh said he's staying in Michigan. Demeco Ryans flat out told them he's not interested. And then Payton, who they interviewed before any of them.

I don't think they wanted Payton after seeing that price. But they had no other option.

NOW this is a team that has signed and fired a HC in less than a year, traded a healthy sum for a QB that looks like he's declining and now have traded a healthy sum for a HC that has gone to and won 1 SB in 15 years.

And instead of the lousy NFC South to rule, Payton now has to face Mahomes and Herbert twice a year just to hope for a WC spot.

The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos just finalized the deal on compensation and sources say New Orleans gets a first-rounder and an early pick — likely a 2nd rounder — but also give a pick back. Complex deal but now done. Sean Payton will be the Broncos coach.

Two more years
Payton signed a five-year contract extension in September 2019, so the Saints hold the rights to Payton through the end of the 2024 season.
