Prayers up for Damar Hamlin
Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
Imagine if this was Tom Brady. The league would just implement an age limit…
Brutal man. Freaky things happen. But these athletes keep getting bigger and faster. There are consequences.

Just cancel the game already, give a tie if you have to. Everyone just watched a player almost die on the field. No way they can continue this.

Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
Reports are now that he had CPR and an AED administered on the field. So that's still in play. Probably the collision triggered something underlying that was unknown would be my guess.King Bootz wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:40 pmI did. That's worst case. He would've needed an AED almost immediately to have a good chance of survival. That he has a pulse now tells me this didn't occur.

This is horrible. That poor kid. His family and friends and teammates.
Goodell would have to be an even worse human than we think to continue this game. And if he tries, I hope the players and coaches refuse anyway.

The cynic in me says that the league is going to cancel the game but is delaying to hit some sort of commerical minutes aired quota in order to appease advertisers.

I mean, they own that time slot right?BucsNBills wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:46 pm The cynic in me says that the league is going to cancel the game but is delaying to hit some sort of commerical minutes aired quota in order to appease advertisers.

They're going to make more money from people checking back in on the game than they will if they officially suspend/cancel for the night and show anything else. The longer they leave everyone hanging, the more eyeballs on the ads.Snake wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:47 pmI mean, they own that time slot right?BucsNBills wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:46 pm The cynic in me says that the league is going to cancel the game but is delaying to hit some sort of commerical minutes aired quota in order to appease advertisers.

Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
If they did use an AED on the field, that's better news. Increases his chances of survival significantly. Wondering if medics got RSOC, otherwise they would've have moved him. Could be something underlying but no way to know right now.The Outsider wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:46 pmReports are now that he had CPR and an AED administered on the field. So that's still in play. Bills equipment team taking everything off the field. Nothing official right now, but games not happening tonight.
Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
What a horrible, horrible thing. Thank goodness he got prompt medical attention and he has a pulse currently.
I cannot imagine them continuing the game. I imagine the man on the phone talking to both head coaches was Goddell or someone similar, coming to a consensus to call it a tie.

I think a tie is the right thing to do here. Focus needs to be elsewhere.

It’s the NFL, this game will continue at some point this week, a tie ain’t gonna cut it for the shield

A tie is the best case scenario here, right?
Nothing changes with the standings I believe. So from a competitive and moral standpoint, calling this a tie and moving on is the best for everyone involved.

Not that it matters now, a tie gives the Bengals the AFC North title. KC moves into the #1 seed now.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 10:01 pm A tie is the best case scenario here, right?

I don't have a problem at all with them rescheduling the game. It's just insane that it took so long to decide to end it tonight.

Critical condition, that's fucking bad.
That's straight from the league via Joe Buck.

They will absolutely play at some point. I doubt it's even being considered calling it a tie.

Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
At this point in the season I don’t think there is any way to reschedule except to play it tomorrow. That brings into consideration player safety with playing games on Tuesday and Sunday. I think a tie is the only outcome the NFL has.The Outsider wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 10:06 pm I don't have a problem at all with them rescheduling the game. They played multiple Tuesday reschedules last season.Primeminister wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 10:07 pmAt this point in the season I don’t think there is any way to reschedule except to play it tomorrow. Re: Prayers up for Demar Hamlin
Even if they wanted to reschedule this game, and they damn well shouldn't, when exactly would that get done? Sometimes in the middle of the week, and then they have to play again on Sunday? After watching that happen? No fucking way.
Call it a tie and go home to hug your loved ones.
