Lots of guesses out there, hell I made a bunch of them yesterday. This is just another one, and one that the owners would have to approve as it would involve a change in the rules.

I have stopped guessing. The Commissar will let us know what his regime will be doing soon enough.

There was a crazy one on PFT last night that involved having separate weekends for AFC and NFC Wild Card games, and playing the Bills-Bengals game during the NFC WC weekend.

Like I said yesterday, the problem is the impact of the game. Four teams are affected by this one contest, and if the Bills game this weekend wasn't played, you bring in even more teams affected. If his condition improves in the next 24 hours and games go on this weekend, the NFL will just have to make the simple decision of whether to push back the playoffs and play this one game during an open week OR simply make it a no-contest and figure out what to do with the top 3 seeds. Of course, a Vegas win this weekend would make things a lot simpler because it keeps Buffalo as the 1.

I don't think so, so yes, absolutely.

The Hamlin situation will be one that either kills the spirit of the Bills and they essentially get blown out on the football field, or this event galvanizes them as a club and makes them an unstoppable colossus. Won't know which until Sunday but there's no way this goes by without having a dramatic effect one way or the other on the football field.

Damn, that's great news. Whatever magic the medical staff weaved clearly worked. Was getting pretty worried there after days of no real positive update but this is just incredible news.

So whether the bills win or lose, you've got everything covered. How are you going to explain a tie?

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Hamlin "opened his eyes" on Wednesday night and "is responsive." He also has been "gripping the hands of those around him."

That's amazing! He's likely still intubated so he won't be able to talk yet. But the fact that he is responsive is a blessing.

You got this, Damar!

They said Damar asked who won the game in writing. He's not speaking but has been communicating in writing.

That's so insane, but also so encouraging. He's fully aware of where he was and what he was doing. My Lord, that says so much.

Yea the Doctors were very clear and optimistic. "Not only are the lights on but he's home". He has complete neurological function and activity.

It's still very early but they haven't ruled out a return to pro football for him either. Next step is getting his lungs healthy enough so he can breathe on his own.

Few more details…

Ian Rapoport

@RapSheet
Dr. Timothy Pritts of UC Health, on Damar Hamlin: "He's made substantial improvement. It appears his neurological condition and function is intact. We are very proud to report that. ... This marks a really good turning point in his ongoing care."

This hands the Bengals the AFC North title and gives the Chiefs the inside track to the #1 seed.

It is laughable but honestly probably the only outcome that's somewhat fair.
