The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Two picks after the punter the Chiefs got my other CB.
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
His development is potentially huge, with Dean, SMB, and Cockrell all free agents after the season. Definitely a guy to pay attention to.

Wonder if we move back up or stay put and just draft 3 in the 7th.

Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
With three 7th rounders now, I wonder if Licht plans a trade up into the 6th. We clearly are trying to get guys who can round out the roster this year.
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Cornerback is low-key one of the most mental processing heavy positions. It’s fantastic to have the physique. But there’s a lot more to it.

Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I honestly think there are jobs for 3 7ths, potentially. 3rd/4th TE. OL Depth. DL Depth. OLB Depth. Or maybe 2 out of 3.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 3:11 pm With three 7th rounders now, I wonder if Licht plans a trade up into the 6th. Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Watching his highlights now, this kid kinda reminds me of SMB coming out. Long arms, and a good matchup athletically with the big slots and the H-backs. I could see him being groomed for a similar role if the team is looking ahead to paying Dean and letting SMB leave after the season.

I mean, what three positions would be on our proverbial shopping list?
We got our future 3-tech in Hall, a new (starting?) offensive lineman in Goedeke, White is our shiny new running back with third down ability, Otton deepens the tight end position, Camarda is our annual wtf special teams selection, and McCollum is our hype-inducing corner prospect.
What else do we need, and where could a rookie win a roster spot? Defensive tackle, maybe? I don't know.
While it's nice to have a billion draft picks, they don't mean squat if they don't make the roster.

If they like a player in the 6th I say trade up but we could still use OL DL and CB Depth.

Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Plenty. DL depth and while not likely this year, maybe someone who can push/replace Gholston. More depth at CB. EDGE depth. ILB depth.Cheb wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 3:18 pmI would.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 3:11 pm With three 7th rounders now, I wonder if Licht plans a trade up into the 6th. This defense is not as great and stacked as people like to believe it is.

Yeah, I agree with everyone saying to focus on defensive depth. We now have two backup interior o-linemen who are fringe-starting quality with Stinnie and Hainsey. The only spot on the offense that could use help is TE, maybe.
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
If Hainsey can be a dude on the iOL, and the rookie can start, hnnnnnnnng

Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I definitely think Goedeke is starting. Either G position is perfect for a rookie because he's bookended by Jensen and either Smith or Wirfs. That would allow a lot of leeway to a rookie who needs a lot of help, which I don't think Goedeke will be. He's a physical monster and so many of his pass protecting deficiencies can be mitigated by having those experienced players around him making sure he knows what's going on and that he's learning along the way.
I'm already 100% all in on this guy being our next Marpet.

Check what he did to those tackles and I think they went in the first round. 4.3 pro day
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Seventh round targets:
- Jojo Domann, LB/S hybrid, Nebraska A bit of a tweener without great measureables but he plays solid football. Could be a core special teamer.
- Jamaree Salyer, OL, Georgia. Played all five spots for Georgia in his time. Not the best player but versatile as hell. Worth a seventh imo.
- Haskell Garrett, DT, Ohio State. Probably doesn't project to be the best pro but he deepens the group.
- John Ridgeway, NT, Arkansas. Beefy run stopper but not much else. Deepens the group and gives Vea a break on early downs.
- Jalen Wydermeyer, TE, Texas A&M. At one time was in the running for best TE in the draft, but he sucks in shorts. Deepens the position group but probably won't make the team if Gronk returns.
- Rasheed Walker, OT, Penn State. Developmental swing tackle?

Forgot one:
Amar'e Barno, Edge, Virginia Tech. Fast as hell (4.36) but not a great pass rusher yet, needs to work on his craft and get stronger.

This is where I’m at. I like the Goedeke pick more than any other pick this draft. The Outsider wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 3:30 pmI definitely think Goedeke is starting. Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I like this pick strictly for special teams. We need more athletes on special teams. I wouldn’t mind 2 of the 7th round picks focused primarily on special teams.
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Glad we picked up a TE but I would have preferred Bellinger over Otton.
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Gholston was a 5th rounder who has played 10yrs for a handful of different coaches as a Buccaneer. Hall has much better athleticism than Gholston. Not sure what physical limitations you're referring to. Kid had alot of upside imo. We'll see how he develops
Any player that reaches a 2nd contract here is a good pick imo.
I'm optimistic about that Guard given Licht's track record with OL on day 2.
I'm lukewarm on the RB (Charles Sims 2.0) amd Punter, but the punter saves us $3M per year and he's great at kickoffs like Pinion.
I really like the value we got for McCollum. Tall, athletic CB who can play press. Let him develop in 2022 before we lose Dean and/or SMB. You can never have enough CBs.

Well crap the Patriots picked DT Sam Roberts? I'm bewildered. So many teams cover their draft very well.

MDB what do you think about Bo Melton? Could be an upgrade over Darden?
Re: The Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Hope we bring in someone in the 7th to challenge Darden for the returner spot as he was underwhelming.
