Anxious to see how this Rodgers story ends. I think the decision has been made by GB that they don’t want him back. The problem is they’re likely not getting the compensation they want from other teams. I thought Vegas was the best fit but they seem to be out of the sweepstakes…although that could be false.

Rodgers prolly doesn’t like the way GB is turning their back on him, not wanting him back. Thus he could do what Schefter is implying…retire and then unretire…giving him more freedom on his future.

Turning into a Days of our Lives drama.

Isn’t he owed $60 million in cash this season? I don’t see how he retires.

Eric DeCosta was handed the keys to a golden franchise and all he's done is get rid of star player after star player.

Lamar would have his pick of team if the only cost is 2 1sts.

There’s a way he could retire and then unretire. Schefter was mapping it out how it could happen. It would be his way of taking control of the situation.

If only that’s all it cost.

I wonder if they can ONLY receive two first or if that's a minimum. Can a team toss extra picks to our bid others?

The contract offer to Jackson would be the only offer they have to make.

That’s all they can receive if he signs an offer sheet and the Ravens don’t match it.

Hypothetically, they could say, "We're going to match it unless you guys also send us X."

Lamar is sort of singular unto himself but given how many problems we have here already, I wonder if it would be too much for even him. God knows I love the man but I have seen what happens in the playoffs in Baltimore and I don't know if it just wouldn't be a worse continuation here

Would they match if he signs say a 6 year, $300mil with 240mil guaranteed? I'm thinking DeCosta would just take the 2 1sts.

If Licht makes that offer and it's accepted, how you feeling about the deal?

If he can get that deal on our books with this cap situation, I take back everything I said about him and sign him infinitely.

I'd love it. We'd have a QB that we can win with, is still in his prime and all it would cost is 2 1sts.

Agreed. As for the cap, when the Browns traded for Watson, they somehow arranged his contract to only count like less than $2mil against the cap in 2022 so I have no doubt Licht could figure out a way to move the numbers around to make it work.

Jackson loves South Florida and world probably be a dream to play in his own backyard and Evans/Godwin would be the best receiving threats he's ever had. Maybe that could be enough to entice him.

Saints are $17mil over the cap BTW. This team is a masterclass on how to say fuck the cap and basically do everything you want.

Just wait until the Falcons trade for Lamar Jackson and the Panthers draft either Stroud, Richardson or Levis. The Bucs will proudly say "We have Kyle Trask!"

MJW, my thoughts exactly. "do everything you want"...by that you mean make the playoffs every other year and make it past the divisional round once in 10 years?

Yeah, I'll pass on that.

I thought the Titans fired their last GM because he got rid of a top player. The cycle continues. This tells me Vrabel is on the hot seat.

I use to watch Cam Newton destroy this defense. I'm not eager to see if again for the next 8-10 years.

Saints can have Carr. He’s not much of an upgrade from Andy Dalton. I’d rather draft and develop.
