Agreed, Daniel Jones played quite well in the playoffs against the Vikings. 24 for 35, 301 passing yards, two passing TDs, no turnovers, and 78 rushing yards? Impressive.

And then six days later he went 15 for 27 for a whopping 135 yards against the Eagles as his team shat the bed in a 38-7 beatdown.

Buyer beware.

I actually give Daniel Jones a lot of credit. He had absolute trash around him. One of the worst OL in the NFC and a #1 WR who probably wouldn’t make some teams’ practice squad. The fact he put up pretty decent numbers in 2022 with garbage around him makes me think he’d be a pro bowl qb with a line that can actually block and WRs that are actually worth a damn.

List of (good/good-ish) quarterbacks I won't believe can play consistently well enough to win 4 in a row in the playoffs until they do:

- Daniel Jones
- Kirk Cousins
- Jared Goff Without Sean McVay
- Geno Smith
- Kyler Murray
- Tua
- Trevor Lawrence
- Ryan Tannehill
- Derek Carr

All of these guys are most likely going to put up a 15-33 2 INT type game against somebody and eliminate their own team.

Funny how when they were interviewing for us we were scraping the bottom of the barrel. But Shane and Frank hire the same dudes.

From acquaintances of mine he can be a bit of a douchebag (though weren't we all in our early 20s), but it's a shame he has had so many health issues. Wish him the best moving forward.

Take notes, Bucs fans. The Saints do this every year and never even think about having a fire sale. Do they keep everyone? No. But they also don't throw the towel in and assume they’ll suck anyway.

How much do these moves put the Saints over the projected 2024 salary cap?

Oh probably a great deal. But they aren't worried about 2024 yet, as they shouldn't be. They are prepping to compete in 2023.

I'm on record wanting us to either tank or go all out pushing the cap to try and be competitive in 2023. What the does to 24/25 cap space is pretty irrelevant to me personally. Plus next year gambling and new TV deal money is going to hit which is going to balloon the salary cap so who cares what the '24 cap situation is?

…and they will probably end up missing the playoffs for the third year in a row anyways. The current Saints are not what I’m striving to be going forward.

Hey if you're gonna miss the playoffs better to miss it actually giving a damn and not going through the motions on a wasted year.

Yeah, it’s definitely better to be like the Saints. Trading your future first in a weird desperate move, always having to rework contracts to get under the cap and sign overrated vets like Mathieu is brilliant. Even more brilliant is having that pick end up in the top 10 and then still not learn your lesson and keep shuffling the books around because ignoring the elephant in the room and trying to “win now” at all costs when you aren’t equipped to is the best way to run a football team.

They've been to one NFCCG in the last 13 years, despite spending most of that time with a First Ballot HOF quarterback and a HOF coach.

But I forgot, you argued that Todd Bowles did a great job because he won the division. Perhaps you have lower standards than Superbowls.

Russell Wilson is a mega douche. Also just needs to come out the closet already. Stop living a lie bro.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/02/24/russe ... ncos-trade
Wilson attempted to have the franchise fire both coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider a month earlier.

According to the report, the relationship between the quarterback and his former coach deteriorated to the point that they did not speak before the 2022 Week 1 game between the Seahawks and Wilson’s Broncos. Wilson, per the report, felt that Carroll and Schneider were holding Seattle back from winning a second Super Bowl, and him from personal awards and accolades.

People are going to use his awful season in Denver with a first time HC and at 33 y/o as "proof" it was never him.
But there's no way you are going to tell me young Russ wouldn't have been in the MVP convo yearly had he had Sean Payton the whole time.

The Russ situation is so weird. I've never seen a preeminent QB like Wilson leave his former team only to have his past teammates and even coach turn on him so harshly. So either the things they say about him are true, and he's just a self important asshole that believes he's above everyone else. Or there are industrial scale salt mines with the Seattle organization that have built up ever since Russ threw that pick vs the Patriots.

Not sure which it is, but the fallout from the Wilson trade has been both fascinating and deeply entertaining.

Somebody's lying

Most players who get cut thank the team they got cut from for giving them a chance to compete.
Before the draft there is a shit load misinformation put out by teams on how they rate players coming out of the draft. They will outright lie to players entering the draft to mislead other teams. Lying is more the norm than the exception.

So the Bears actually do want to build around Fields, not that it was ever really a question.

The real discussion is who wants the #1 pick bad enough and how far back is Chicago willing to move.
