The quality of the broadcast matters a lot to them. If they're bored by the booth, or if they're not invested in the personalities, they're not watching. Casuals will tune in to hear Brady, especially with all the personality Brady has been showing the last couple of years, free of Belichick's iron fist.

Then you throw in all the other stuff they'll have him doing - gladhanding sponsors, doing promos, having his face plastered on everything "Fox Sports," it makes a world of sense to me. He's maybe the 3rd most recognizable living athlete in America right now, behind Tiger and MJ. Romo is great in the booth, but 7 out of 10 Americans probably couldn't pick him out of a lineup.
