NCAA Football 2021
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Snake's games to watch, week 4. Pro-Tip, full games (minus commercials) are often posted to YouTube after the fact. 15 minute highlight/condensed games are posted for most games within hours of their conclusion, as well. What's that, you have a life? Too bad!
Nebraska @ Michigan State (#20) - Nebraska took Oklahoma to the brink last week. Surface level analysis would tell us that they can handle Michigan State, right? Think again. Michigan State is playing very physically and has an NFL RB they are riding hard. In addition to a QB transfer who is their first competent signal caller in years. Maybe since Kirk Cousins. MSU -5 currently.
LSU @ Mississippi. LSU -2.5. Both teams are 2-1. LSU and Coach O need this win. Things get very, very rough after this week. That is life in the SEC. They will probably only be favored in one game for the rest of the season. Is Coach O gonna finish like 4-7? It's possible. Does he get fired, if so?
Louisville @ FSU. LOU -2.0. Norvell went 3-6 last season. He's 0-3 staring at 0-4.
North Carolina (#21) @ Georgia Tech. UNC -12. GT competed hard in a six point loss to Clemson last week. Do they come out with confidence to build on, or get annihilated? UNC has faced two competent teams thus far. Lost to VT in week 1. Allowed 39 to Virginia last week in a win. A loss puts a kibosh on what was expected to be a magical season for UNC.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
I think Rutgers gets manhandled. Vegas has an 18 pt spread. They competed well with Michigan last season (took them to OT) and a lot of other teams, as well. Schiano is telling media people that last season was an anomaly for a lot of teams. many overperformed, many underperformed, and that regression was likely. He did everything short of naming his own team as a candidate to return to the middle.Phantom wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:07 amMichigan vs Rutgers, we’ll see how good Rutgers isSnake wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 1:46 pm Snake's games to watch, week 4. Does Schiano still rush the kneel-down?
Re: NCAA Football 2021
So I’m going to the PSU/Nova game on Saturday. Early birthday present to myself(probably my only birthday present tbh).
I’m looking to see if Jahan Dotson is as good as he looks on TV. Also want to see how the Penn State D-Line looks. It’s not superior talent, but it’s a good barometer of pure strength/speed.
Also, should I try and convince my buddies to wait on the Michigan tickets (two ranked games in this time, @ Iowa and @ Ohio State). I feel like if they lose one prices drop dramatically. But if they win both tickets skyrocket.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
This is the most important game of the Frost era.
The team that nearly beat OU wins this game, and all of a sudden, there's genuine momentum for the program for the first time in this regime.
The team that got beaten by a lousy Illinois team shows up, Sparty wins by 30 and there's a help wanted ad in the Lincoln Journal Star on Sunday.
I don't think another "moral victory" gets it done, either. That'd put us at 2-4 (0-2 in conference) halfway through the season, with our two wins coming against a SUNY school and a school not good enough to be a SUNY school. And in our 7 remaining games, 4 tilts with other top twenty conference teams. We don't beat Sparty, we're probably looking at 4-9, maybe 5-8. No better.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
From what I can find the poor start to the season and other teams heavily recruiting our players. Though this might have been earlier in the week and calmed down now. I think our starting QB might not play for a while now due to injuries. I am not digging anymore into this because the place I could find out is overrun by people who say they are fans but seem to take joy in anything bad that happens. The threads that get started here as jokes about fire this new coach/gm get a lot of support there.

Nebraska/MSU was an incredible game. Mel Tucker is for real. And Adrian Martinez is never gonna be what we hoped. Eats awful sacks. Makes bad decisions. He is holding the program back.
FSU is now 0-4. Oooof.
Georgia Tech wrecked North Carolina. UNC was a fraud this season and got exposed really fast.

Scott Frost must now finish 5-2 to have a winning record. Failing to do so would be four seasons without a winning record.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
Kinda random, but USC true freshman (!) Juju McDowell jumped off the screen at me in limited time. Any time an SEC team is forcing the ball to a true freshman, you know they have pop. He’s small and listed as an ATH. Basically a scatback who doesn’t shy away from contact. Natural pass catcher and very decisive at high speeds. Good feet.

Jahan Dotson is really good but gameplanning around him is easier than a more physical receiver.
Brandon Smith is gonna be a great pro.
Sean Clifford might be good as a backup.

All around bad football weekend.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Not sure how we jumped Oklahoma or Iowa, because we were unimpressive other than some big passes. Villanova couldn’t cover worth a lick.
Parker Washington was a big name, but Noah Cain barely played if at all… concerned about that.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
Snake's games to watch in Week Six! Lot of good games this week.
Game 1: Iowa #5 (4-0) @ Maryland (4-0). Iowa is only favored by 3. Tua's brother Taulia is a junior and playing pretty well for Maryland. 10 TDs to 1 INT. Iowa is running the ball like Iowa. Should be fun B1G play.
Game 2: Cincinnati #7 (3-0) @ Notre Dame #9 (4-0). Cincinnati favored by 1.5. It's long been known in NCAAF circles that Luke Fickell, a devout catholic, wants the ND job badly. Going into South Bend and whooping their asses will make an indelible mark on the Irish psyches that will have them clamoring for Fickell when Brian Kelly retires. Notre Dame peripherals looked quite bad going into Wisconsin last week where they seemingly got right. Is Vegas not buying the turnaround, or is Cincinnati that good? We shall see. I'll be watching.
Game 3: Florida #10 (3-1) @ Kentucky (4-0). UF is -7.5 favorite. This is an important litmus test for Mark Stoops's program at Kentucky. He took over a disaster in 2013 and incrementally improved from 2-10 to 10-3 over the course of 5 seasons. Since 2018, it's been 8-5 and 5-6. Was 2018 the peak? This Kentucky team has some attributes. They are 8th in FBS in converting 3rd downs on offense and their transfer QB seems to be comfortable and demonstrating some arm talent. It's all gonna come down to one thing though. Can they stop the Gators ground attack? UF is #3 in FBS in rushing yards per game. Behind the "we only run" Air Force and Navy. UF leads the country in rushing yards per attempt. It's not close. 7.46 YPC. #2? Auburn at 7.04. Kentucky is #21 defensively in YPC against (2.88). But who have they played? Kentucky has played cans mostly. Florida took on Bama and rushed for 245 yards and 4 (!) TDs. @Dread
Game 4: Northwestern (2-2) @ Nebraska (2-3). Corn is favored by 11.5. Frost and co. took Oklahoma to the brink. If there were ever such thing as a "quality loss"...that was it. They followed it up by losing a bruiser to Michigan State. A loss marked by the issues that have defined all Frost's teams in his HC career. ST blunders, awful penalties, and bizarre playcalling in crucial situations. I don't think the program has the balls to fire him midseason short of the team rattling off another 6-7 losses in a row. However, losing to Northwestern may be the nail in the coffin. According to the 247Sports Team Talent composite, Nebraska is the 25th most talented team in FBS, #5 in B1G. Northwestern? 44th in FBS, 11th in B1G. There's a talent divide, there's home field advantage. It's time to win decisively and for the love of God, convince Martinez that he isn't Lamar Jackson. @MJW
Game 5: Baylor #21 (4-0) @ Oklahoma State #19 (4-0). Mike Gundy has an underrated job in CFB. Sit at the tail end of the top 25, win 8-9 games a year, play the Sooners stiff for the first half (before getting blown out), and cash checks. On a serious note, Oklahoma State has an opening to go on a run here if they can get past Baylor. Iowa State (2-2) and WV (2-2) present their biggest remaining challenges. They might be undefeated going into their last week matchup against Oklahoma. This is a lot of IFs for an OK St team who has won 3 of their 4 games by a single score.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
The Florida v Kentucky game will be close imo. Gators should be the better team at the end of the day, but Stoops always has that team ready for Florida and road SEC games are rarely easy.
I just hope AR15 is healthy and can get back on the field before the showdown with Georgia on Oct 30th. We'll need that explosive playmaking ability against Georgia's defense if we hope to score enough points.

Kentucky is not a good team. We played them last week. It looked like 2 lost, inept teams trying to prove who wasn't the worst.

The Michigan/Wisconsin game should be a goodie. Michigan's 5th best rushing attack in the country versus Wisconsin's top rush defense in the nation. Just for that alone, it should be a good game.
Looking forward to it.
