The Shanahan/McVay influence is obvious.

Well yeah. The OL has allowed more penetration than a red light district.

Refs bailed Moore out there, that was as ugly a punt return as I’ve ever seen.

It may not matter who the QB is given we have a good supporting cast around them, both sides of the ball (at least on paper) despite what the national media believes. All they see is a ? at QB and automatically think we are going to suck because of that alone.

If we're talking about elevating the players around you Trask has done a great job. I'll be damn but I'd love to see him out there with Evans and Godwin.

Think these rookie receivers are legit themselves.

Feel bad for Gage, but would much rather see Palmer and Jarrett getting those touches myself.

The national media and sports pundits are looking at the offensive line, that is why they think the Bucs are going to suck.

Just checking back in. Why is Trask playing? Was Wolford hurt?

Damn. Hope it’s not serious and the kid is okay. We need arms for next week.

Looks like we won't be carrying 3 QBs this year. But I hope Wolford is alright and recovers soon.

He might be in it next week in the final week of the preseason. But after that? Maybe.

On why Mayfield didn’t play today

Per Greg Auman
The logical answer is they intend to name Mayfield the starter and don't want to play him in the second half with backup backup linemen.

Gotta give Trask credit for coming back in and slinging the rock. Honestly that was the most impressive football I’ve ever seen from him. Had some real mustard on a couple of those throws and was pushing the ball without hesitation.

Tucker was averaging one yard a carry before he broke that 4th down run.
Not really his fault, imo. He has juice, but the OL wasn't giving him much to work with.

On a side note, Ronnie Bell did good.

The Oline is a question mark for sure, Wirfs adjusting to LT (I don't agree with putting him in his off position). A lot depends on the health of Jensen and what progress Goedeke makes. By no means do I think we have the worst line though.

I really hate playing it safe with Mayfield. And I truly want Trask and not just a little bit either. I want to see what he can do, how he can develop and if he can repeat what he did at the college level and what he learned from Brady.

Pewter Report says Wolford had a shoulder stinger, was taken out as a precaution. He later regained feeling in his shoulder and probably won't play in the preseason finale.

Seems like Bowles is dodging the question, but maybe things are not decided.

I think he has Baker in mind but wanted to give Trask an extra look.

It's funny that Bowles wants to sit out the starters all preseason to prevent injury. But he is only increasing the chance of injury because it takes time to get in game shape.

Bowles decided when he signed Mayfield that Mayfield would be the starter. The reason Mayfield won't play anymore during the preseason is because Bowles doesn't want for Mayfield to look bad.

This is probably the case. It usually is when you don't have a quality QB.
