Yup. Protect Tom Brady and keep the WR room mostly healthy and we'll score 30pts a game.

Steve Smith opens the Lenny interview with “Let’s cut to the chase…get it out of the way…what were you eating this off-season? Everything?” 😂

Steve Smith is gold sometimes.

Lenny talking about his time after getting cut from Jax. Hardest year of his career & first time he had ever been cut. Needed a 10 minute call with his mom every day for encouragement because he started doubting himself and his ability.

Lenny seems happy and in a good space now.

Is Julio really wearing 85? I’ve gotten used to the WRs wearing 10-19

😂 Mike Evans is talking trash with Steve Smith. Reminding Steve of when he called the team the Yucks.

Mike Evans says he was 245lbs his rookie year & was a better blocker back then. Now he is smaller, more flexible and better WR in every other way.

Evans says he literally watches Harry Potter every single day and Steve Smith is blown away 😂. Now Evans is trying to convert Licht’s son into a Harry Potter fan.

I, too, am a buccaneers fan. But training camp coverage on mlb trade deadline day while a historic trade happening right now at this moment, there's no comparison.

So @nybf if SD doesn't win a WS in the next two years, how big of a blowup occurs (feel free to answer in the appropriate thread)

I saw something about a huge MLB trade, but since baseball is only above hockey in my “I just don’t care” sports list I can’t share this momentous occasion with you.

I really wonder what this looked like from Brady‘s perspective. If he was planning on going there, or just enjoyed being courted by the owner. I’m curious when he decided that this had no chance of working out. Maybe he had a realization that this guy is a freaking nutcase LOL.

Edit: Reading some patriots boards. A good number of fans aren’t too happy with Brady. Calling the last season with him a farce.

Last edit: I still think Tom‘s retirement was a way to strongarm the Buccaneers into firing Arians. He wanted to go to the dolphins unless they made him some concessions.

Except it makes no sense. Why retire? If he could just walked into the G Boys office and demand Arians' head, why not just do that save yourself the entire retirement dance?

It's been pretty clear for a while he's had huge family pressure to hang it up, which a part of him does want, but he wanted the game to "force him" to do it by passing him by. Problem is.... he's still the best. And he can't walk away while he's still on top. When he can get 8. Sorry, wifey, just can't.

I want to play in Miami.
We aren’t letting you do that.
Fine, I’m retiring.
Please don’t retire.
I want to play in Miami.
That is not happening. What can we do to make the situation better for you?
Fire the alcoholic head coach.
Done.

Now explain why

1) Brady wanted Arians gone in the first place in favor of Bowles,

2) Why the overly outspoken Arians would accept just hanging around the building in a lesser role,

3) Why Brady, who supposedly hates Arians, would want Arians to stay around the building.

1. Arians would take a red pen to Brady and leftwich’s gameplans. After they did all the work. Outside of that, personality conflicts I’m guessing. Going from the most studious overworking head coach of all time to the guy who cuts practice early.

Bowles won’t touch the offense, realistically.

2. Saving face? Who knows. Maybe he also agreed that it wasn’t going well or it was time to transition to Bowles. Taking the front office role means he doesn’t get fired. He also mentioned that he didn’t wanna leave Bowles in a lurch without a quarterback. He’s not winning the PR battle against Brady, regardless.

3. Arians driving around in a golf cart cutting up is different than Arians coaching the team.

Also, there's a huge jump to hating BA from not wanting to play for him another year.

He didn't want to play for BB anymore, yet speaks super highly of him.

And honestly, Arians still hanging around the team seems like a guy who was forced out, yet wasn’t ready to be gone.

Then the team gives him a no-show mafia type job so he can still get paid his HC salary despite being “retired.” Sounds like plausible deniability to me. Smooth it alllll over.

No, it's just a coincidence that Brady retired, leaked that he wasn't happy with BA, spoke to the Dolphins, asked to be released, BA said he would never release him, Brady comes back, BA retires, Brady's new contract shoves all his money to next year with a no Franchise clause....nothing to see here.

All just crazy coincidence that just so happen to align with the rumors.

IMO, if Bucs go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. He'll ride off into the sunset and retire for good.

Edit: If Dallas and McCarthy fuck it up this season, Jerry Jones will do anything to hire Sean Payton as Dallas Cowboys coach next season

I don't think Payton want to work for Ross after what he did to the Dolphins past 5 years

They will. We just have to hope the Saints don’t get a massive haul for him.

I wouldn't call it a guaranteed success if they do.

Payton had a free hand in New Orleans. I never got the impression the Bensons cared one whit about the football side of things. And it's obvious Payton had the 51% in the dynamic with Mickey Loomis.

None of that will be true with Jerry Jones. Bill Parcells couldn't win there at least in part because of this.

Ross wanting Brady to go to the Dolphins and Brady wanting to go to the Dolphins are not the same thing.

Couldn’t Brady have signed there instead of Tampa in 2020?

That's business in general in my experience, and the NFL plays by the same rules. In the immortal words of the quotemachine that is Mike Tomlin, "I'll tolerate you until I can replace you." I heard much the same as a young player and by golly they were right.

Yep. And most of us don't get disrespected this way to the tune of $30,000,000 guaranteed to be fairly bad at our jobs.

Good on 24 year old rook Nolan Turner for making plays. Hope we don't lose all these guys and we find a way to stick them around for next year if possible.

Does not make any sense to promote CTE helmets and scrap knee braces.

Wouldnt the knee braces do well as a precautionary measure

Well it was just a guess that none were being used on the o-line the day Jensen got hurt, so I was thinking that may have prevented the severity of the injury.
