Marpet ain't gonna save us.
Re: 2022 Training camp thread
Marpet just needs a few months to get under the bar and some Mexican supplements and he’ll be good to go. Tell him and Gronk to get ready for week 12.
Re: 2022 Training camp thread
JC Tretter is an upper echelon Center and a very good pass protector; top 10 at the position in the league the last half-decade.
I don’t know if he’s coming off a secret shoulder injury and can’t pass a physical or what, but the odds that Hainsey would play better than him (and keep Brady from getting Stinnie/Hall’d) is rather remote.
I mean, it could happen, but there is no evidence to support that hope at this point.
But I would very much doubt they sign Tretter. Signing Tretter would basically waive the “yeah, rounds 2-4 of the draft last year was a complete bust through year 2 (and we desperately need ROI on even just one of them in this final year of our window)” white flag.
Cutting VH3 in year 5 (when he should have been cut after year 3) and parting ways with OJ after year 5 and cutting a numbskull round 5 RB wouldn’t be comparable to this. Would like to see it (who cares about cap for the next 3 years…we’re going to be doormat and we know it), but color me skeptical.

Where is Marpet?
So Cam Brate goes about about 245. Marpet looks slightly bigger, so let's so he's about 250-255. He ain't coming back, chief.

When was this? If it's any time now this is would play out exactly like those action movies where they call the old, grizzled dude out of retirement. And you know it's the shittiest possible thing they can do but they're doing it anyway cuz "We need you" and bonus points if there's an old adversary that wasn't caught. And you can literally see the dust and cobwebs come flying out of old dude's mouth when he dejectedly huffs about what bullshit it isKing Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 11:00 am13F11B wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 10:40 am https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/most ... n-the-nfc/

Re: 2022 Training camp thread
I’d consider it a win if he could be back for playoff time. But he probably couldn’t give us much at that time anyway.
This just sucks so bad. Probably a top 5 player on the team we would not want this to happen too. He’s The wall right in front of Brady, where he’s most susceptible. Hell he might be a top 3 worst guy to lose.
I guess the only positive outlook is that it’s actually better this happens at the start of camp than week 1 or even later. At least the team has time to adjust and change things up as needed. But god damn is it a downer. And I’m sure the mood at OBP is pretty gloomy today.

Re: 2022 Training camp thread
It happens. Especially with Centers and Safeties.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 11:03 am A 31 y/o upper echelon player that's been on the market since March?
There is this long-enduring zeitgeist in the NFL where personnel people think that Center play and Safety play is pretty much driven exclusively by the Guards next to them and the CB/pass rush in front of them.
Until the next guy comes in and he sucks and they’re proven wrong. Happens time and time again.
This has played out for 2 decades now yet that stupid “Centers and Safeties are just replaceable role players where we can save on the cap” zeitgeist endures. So you see + playing, late20s/early 30s Centers and Safeties sit on the market while lesser players play for bottom dollar. It’s cap maximization + that enduring “C/S are replaceable role players” zeitgeist.

That's what I thought. We'll file this next to "the film study clause is in a lot of player contracts".

No, just keep running your mouth with unfounded bullshit so we can all laugh, particularly when you ask someone else to backup a claim.

Buccaneers just updated Jensen's status at it appears he is out for at least two months.

So that tells us they’re hoping it’s “best case scenario low grade 2 ACL.”13F11B wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 12:09 pm Buccaneers just updated Jensen's status at it appears he is out for at least two months.

Personally, I’m not holding out hope for grade 2 ACL. Given what happened (280 lb man uncontrolled to the outside of your knee + the scream + immediate cart for a really tough dude), I’m expecting the MRI shows grade 3 after swelling goes down.

There went our punting competition, well I guess we can grade the new guy by Anger and that other fella.
Re: 2022 Training camp thread
If you’re really in your 60s, you better hope the Buccaneers are going to empty the clip and try to rectify a season ending injury. Because chances are they won’t make a Super Bowl again let alone win one during your lifetime.
