NCAA football 2022
Just now seeing that USC and UCLA plan to join the B1G in another head scratching consolidation of college football.
Re: NCAA football 2022
I thought B1G is against it? What a crock of BS
Holy shit
B1G vs SEC

Big 12 is not looking good right now… I bet ACC FSU bolt for SEC anytime soon.
Clemson, FSU and Miami to the SEC?
Oklahoma State is likely SEC bound
North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia and Syracuse to the BIG 10?

Re: NCAA football 2022
I think we are heading to a future where it'll be two superconferences of the top teams. Maybe sixteen teams apiece split up into a total of four to eight divisions, with those winners battling for playoff spots. Yes, I realize that's aping the NFL system and no I don't think it's an accident.
If we added some European soccer style promotion and relegation to add some movement and parity, I think it could work out. For example, at the end of each season the bottom two teams in a superconference would be eligible for relegation to a lower conference, while the top performers from the lower conferences would be eligible for promotion. This would force out teams like Vanderbilt and Indiana who get dogwalked in the SEC and B1G respectively, while allowing the Cincinnatis and San Diego States room for growth and allow them to compete with the big boys.
Just a thought.

West Virginia need to leave big 12 for SEC
Re: NCAA football 2022
Curious what Oregon and Washington do. Both have been to the CFP and are generally solid programs.

They need to be playing Pitt, Virginia, and VT on an annual basis in order for things to be right.
Re: NCAA football 2022
The college football middle class is shrinking faster than the American middle class.
Re: NCAA football 2022
True. I still think Ped State belongs in the mix, as well.
Re: NCAA football 2022
The more I think about it, I honestly think ACC will merge with SEC to become super conference against B1G/PAC 12
Notre Dame goes to B1G
It’s no secret SEC wants Clemson, FSU, Miami, Virginia Tech, NC and Duke
Big 12 merge with AAC, Pac 12, Mountain West and Sun belt leftover
BYU is having second thought

Re: NCAA football 2022
I think every school on the outside looking in should all declare independence and make their schedules with each other. Get as many Big 2 games in as you can for the bigger paydays and play the best schedule you can put together for your program. ESPNU and Fox Sports will still call you and you don't have to pay a conference.
It worked for FSU and Notre Dame for years. The Irish had an exclusive deal with NBC for ages. College football is big enough that pretty much every division one game is going to pull a TV audience.

I know you live in South Carolina, have you heard any rumors about Clemson join SEC?

Screw what they hear in S.C. Here's what changed: When I was in high school in upstate N.Y., the Gamecocks were cool. EVERYBODY and their brother wore a white Cocks hat. You are similar age, so you know it. But that's no more.
Do you know what I see now, when I go visit my parents in upstate N.Y.? Clemson gear. Paws everywhere. The same when I go visit my sister in eastern Vermont. No Boston or anything else. It is tiger paws.
Like any fad it will fade, but Clemson is currently seen as the "every man's" alternative to the juggernauts, and the team brings that audience. If they are going to move, now is the time. The ACC contract is a bugger, though.

Championship gane in Las Vegas ?
Re: NCAA football 2022
The best thing that could happen for college football would be for the next several champions to be: Clemson, Penn St., Clemson, USC, Clemson, Oregon, Clemson, Wisconsin, Clemson, Iowa, Clemson.
Or any combination thereof.

Because one of the most popular hat designs then was all white with printing in team colors, team nickname is large caps, location underneath. For some reason, everyone wanted to wear a hat that saidKress wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 5:49 pmuscbucsfan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 3:25 pm

Official fraternity uniform of the 90's.
The OSU Beavers took a run at them, but it was only seen as people trying to be contrarian because nothing rivaled the Cocks.

Swear to God the WVU one said "EERS".
Re: NCAA football 2022
There's a rumor from swimming website of SEC to add North Carolina, FSU, Clemson, and Virginia. Miami left out.
So take it with a grain of salt

I am hearing about more and more smoke with this. Waiting for the fire.
I have to assume the negotiations are taking place. Whether they come to fruition is another story. The logistics and TV deals and whatnot are the kicker.
But I would love the opportunity to kick Alabama's ass on the regular. That's right, I said it.

It seems most Clemson fans here would rather go to the B1G. They seem to HATE the SEC.
