Let’s put some things in perspective. On this stage, you have a tech billionaire, an R&B legend, 3 box office hit actors, a football coach who’s sent over 30 kids to college, an academy award and a combined 32 (more than twice that in nominations) Grammys. On top of all of that, every single artist on that stage came from nothing and survived through violence, poverty and addiction. What you’re literally looking at right here is the American dream!

I grew up on this generation of music… was excited to see it but ultimately Rap just can’t measure up. Was especially disappointing that a few of the group were lip syncing lol. Like why do you need to lip sync rap? Prince really sang and played electric guitar during a rainstorm…
Re: Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show
Most rappers sound terrible live without a backing track.
Re: Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show
Hip Hop sucks live but nostalgia is unlike anything ever. Dre paid, what, 7 million to do the thing.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:34 pm I grew up on this generation of music… was excited to see it but ultimately Rap just can’t measure up. I didn’t understand why Kendrick chose the song he did. Em had to choose his “pop success” song. It just didn’t allow the artists to truly be themselves. Fifty was in a weird spot too where body shaming became a topic on all sorts of angles because one cannot make jokes because people are paper thin about their defects.
Dre looked good for just having a brain aneurysm. The cool thing is that this is likely the last time we see any of these guys together. It’ll be remembered for that.

3??? Not even 1, although MJB is a 2 time Oscar nominee and 3 time Golden Globe nominees. She's not know for her acting though.PetePierson wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:26 pm Dre with Beats, I imagine..... kind of a reach.

That's a reach on both "tech" and "billionaire".PetePierson wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:26 pm Dre with Beats, I imagine..... kind of a reach.

I assume Em is one for 8 Mile. I guess 50 had a couple movies? But I can't recall a box office hit. And I have zero idea who the 3rd could be.
Bottom line - you have 6 enormously successful people on that stage. You can praise them and make note of how much they've accomplished without just making shit up.

3.2 Billion, but I think Dre took home like 700 or 800 million from it.PetePierson wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 3:12 pmObviously, I did not know that.King Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 2:57 pm MJB is a 2 time Oscar nominee and 3 time Golden Globe nominees. She's not know for her acting though.
Interesting:

I thought Apple bought Beats from Dre a few years back for a gazillion.

8 Mile was a critical and box office success. It opened No. 1 in the US with $51.3 million grossed in its opening weekend and an eventual total of $242.9 million worldwide.[2]

Like usc said, he took home a piece. I think he got close to billionaire, but didn't quite make it. Pretty sure his divorce squashed the last breaths of that hope.PetePierson wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 3:12 pmI thought Apple bought Beats from Dre a few years back for a gazillion.

It's all about the phrasing.
"Box office" stars... which means they probably had the "# whatever Movie In America" for a week or something.

Re: Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show
Dre and Snoop Dog star in smaller movies, but they were both in Training Day so that was a big movie.
Em was in 8 Mile Dr. Dre among others.

Strange - I don't remember Babe being this way in the past, but it has now become a slight bit fascinating. When she is not posting memes, she posts comments which are essentially word-memes. Just catchphrase after catchphrase, without any indication that she understands what those words are supposed to mean.
Remember BFT? Like that, but somehow even less.

I thought it was common knowledge that more or less all half time shows and national anthems at the Super Bowl are pre-recorded. I know with the national anthem it's literally NFL policy after Garth Brooks threw his hissy fit in 93.real bucs fan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:34 pm I grew up on this generation of music… was excited to see it but ultimately Rap just can’t measure up. The Only Fans feed of Buc2 watching Babe's Only Fans would be like the new Faces of Death.

Prince definitely didn’t lip sync but he had the clout to enforce himself like that. The Outsider wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 11:25 amI thought it was common knowledge that more or less all half time shows and national anthems at the Super Bowl are pre-recorded.
