From reading that article it depends on when they retire and when the team 'officially' removes them from the roster. If the Buccaneers let Brady retire prior to June 2nd the balance of his bonus would all hit next season. if they carry him until after June 2nd then his bonus would hit next season (2022) and the season after (2023). In addition, any guaranteed money for 2022 would count against the cap (those are usually based on a player being on the roster in March). This is why Brees and the Saints renegotiated the salary and waited until June 11th.
Tom Brady: Undecided

Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
Ah I see, thanks. Then chances are Brady and Licht have been working out a way to make his retirement be as painless as possible for the Bucs. I fully expect a formal announcement early in the week.13F11B wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 12:11 pmFrom reading that article it depends on when they retire and when the team 'officially' removes them from the roster. Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
If Brady does retire: what about the Bucs getting a familiar face in Winston?
- Winton is a fa and should not cost much
- he is more mature
- he knows Ba's system
- he has sat behind and learnt from one of the best in Brees
- Winston is highly motivated to prove his self
- etc
Personally, I would love this. The probability of this happening is about 8% but it is not 0%.
How would you guys feel about this?
Do you think the front office will at least consider this as an option?

If Winston ever puts on pewter again I'm fucking out, and Mods, hold me to that. Ban my IP. Because I should never even consider putting myself back in that abusive relationship. I'd rather spend every Sunday at Chucky Fucking Cheese from now until the Rapture.

We already know he isn't a QB that is going to go all the way, I'd rather start Trask, the devil I don't know could be better than the one we do knowBahamian:bucfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 12:56 pm If Brady does retire: what about the Bucs getting a familiar face in Winston?

So... @BJJ34 This works right? Shefty is the guy ...
It was time for Brady to walk off on his terms . .. and now the pundits will run
It gives Tampa time to adjust draft readiness (and potential trades) . We'll see

Well we're back to being the Butts. That was a fun 2 years. Thanks Tom!
Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
Oh Boy….
Well let’s see what JL and BA and the rest of the geniuses at 1BP can envision for 2022.
Tom made everyone want to play at the highest level.
Who’s coming in here to be THAT GUY?

NFCS still wide open

I’m skeptical still… he said he would take time, then not even a week later?Crocaneers wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 2:37 pm So... @BJJ34 This works right? Shefty is the guy ...

Say hello to Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, Mike White or that guy from Saints..
Maybe Derek Carr?
Bucs get one of them.. GUARANTEED

Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
Feel bad for Evans.. this late in his career and having to start from scratch with his QB. Looking like another 1k season is going to be that much more difficult.

Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
It's official, Brady has retired.
I'm legit sad. He's been part of my entire NFL life dating back to the late 90s when I first started watching football as a kid. This must've been what old timers felt when Montana hung them up.
His last pass in the NFL is a 50 yard TD bomb over the best corner in the game.
I'm in total shock right now.

Yeah but I’m not Winston fan.
Here to 40/40!
Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
How can I possibly go back to watching terrible Bucs QB play?
And who will be the favorite in the NFC South now?

Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
The Bucs resigning Winston is like your good friend getting back together with their abuse ex. They say they've changed, but we all know that ain't likely.
If the Bucs bring Winston back, I'm done.

Ugh, thought we had one more year to make a run at it. Thanks to Tom for bringing us the best 2 years of Bucs football ever.

Re: Tom Brady: Undecided
Both Auman and Stroud are saying that according to the team/Arians they haven't been notified of his retirement. Not saying it isn't true, but if that's how he handled it he can go fuck himself. All the talk about not wanting it to be a distraction and all of that shit and he notifies ESPN before the team?
I'm hoping this is just someone in his camp that ran their mouth or something, because at best this was clumsily handled.

Brady earned the right to handle his retirement however he wants. The Outsider wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:29 pm Both Auman and Stroud are saying that according to the team/Arians they haven't been notified of his retirement. Maybe so, but Brady said himself that he had the team to consider. Now it's a shitshow.Monero wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:32 pmBrady earned the right to handle his retirement however he wants. The Outsider wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:29 pm Both Auman and Stroud are saying that according to the team/Arians they haven't been notified of his retirement.
