Big 12 is about to be as relevant as the G5.
NCAA Football 2021
Re: NCAA Football 2021
You seemed to be right years ago. The CFBP hasn’t gotten it wrong and I’m not sure they ever will. The right teams have been chosen. Four teams might be best from a competition standpoint.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Clever touchdown by Georgia there. They put the tight end at tackle with an unbalanced line on the opposite side, so he was eligible. The defense lost him in coverage (likely thinking that he was a OT), easy touchdown.
I don't see how Michigan is allowing Bowers to do ANYTHING. He's their best offensive player, easily. I'd bracket him all friggin' day.

Re: NCAA Football 2021
Yeah that was some brilliant ish. I probably would’ve saved it for Bama lol
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Georgia legit looks twice as fast as UM.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
This just looks like a total mismatch physically. Michigan is getting pushed around the field.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
What the fuck Michigan

Re: NCAA Football 2021
Reminder that Georgia’s defense has more 5* players than the entire PAC-12.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Roman Wilson gets held for 10 straight yards on his route, interception thrown. Lovely.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
And Alabama will dominate Georgia again. The college football playoffs really suck compared to the NFL.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Oooooo…. WR stumbled on the route??

Re: NCAA Football 2021
Michigan is never winning anything under Harbaugh are they?
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Consider the expectations entering the year. We started the season unranked and despite that made the college playoffs. Michigan is the first team to do that ever. We got waaaaay farther than anyone expected us to, and I credit Harbaugh and the team for that. As I recall, we were predicted to finish fourth or fifth in our division this season.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 11:39 pm Michigan is never winning anything under Harbaugh are they?
And yet, this team beat Ohio State and won the conference. To put it lightly, this season did not need to end in a Natty to be considered a success.
Yes, it was a disappointing showing against Georgia but I'm not crying. The better team won, credit to them. We still had our best season in what, 20 to 25 years?
Anyone booing or otherwise second-guessing Harbaugh right now is a fool.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
I mean, they won B1G and beat OSU. Given the landscape of CFB, that’s about the best you can hope for as a non-SEC team and one that puts a big emphasis on academics.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 11:39 pm Michigan is never winning anything under Harbaugh are they?

Re: NCAA Football 2021
MAYBE that's fair? I don't know. I would think the expectations at Michigan would be a little higher than "job well done on finally winning the B1G and beating Ohio State after 7 years". Not to mention a 1-5 bowl game record and 1-6 record vs Ohio State.Snake wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 8:20 amI mean, they won B1G and beat OSU. Based on what @Cheb said, it seems the bar is extremely low for Jim Harbaugh's Michigan team. Anything higher is a bonus and not the norm.
My fault was putting him in the category with guys like Urban and Dabo. He's probably more of a Brian Kelly. Relatively big name, top programs, endless resources but ultimately nothing to show for it.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Michigan's arrow is looking up, but to expect Michigan to consistently compete every year with Alabama and the other top half dozen teams at this point is unrealistic.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:56 amMAYBE that's fair? It's very hard to consistently beat squads with loads of five-star talent without a similarly stacked roster. Georgia has nine 5-star players just on their starting defense, as many as are playing in the entire PAC-12. That's a big reason why that defense is one of the best of all-time. And the only team that beat that defense is unsurprisingly the only team to have more five-star recruits than Georgia does.
Michigan for the longest time has been in that B-tier of college programs; a name people know and they're still regionally relevant and a tough out in their conference and they may make a New Year's bowl on occasion, but no one but the biggest of optimists thinks they are a threat to win a national championship. We've been right there with Oregon and Penn State and Oklahoma State and Auburn; good but not great.
That A-tier consists of Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Ohio State, plus or minus Notre Dame and LSU depending on the year. They are in that A-tier because they pull five-star talent, full stop. What are the top five programs in getting five star talent in the last five years? Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, and Oklahoma. Who are the next two? Notre Dame and LSU. Surprise surprise.
After a season like this, Michigan can pull in better recruits, which will lead to more consistent and sustainable success, which can pull them up into that A-tier. It's not an overnight process and I understand that.
My bar for Harbaugh is realistic. Dominating Ohio State and winning the conference were huge for the chances of the program pushing from that B group to that A group. Getting into the playoffs at this point is just gravy on top. We've had a great year. Anyone saying they expected more or that Harbaugh can't get it done is either naive or trolling.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
This Iowa Kentucky game has been far more entertaining than anything involving the BCS.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Iowa could have ran for half a yard on 4th down behind their awesome offensive line and finished the game. Their coach is a coward.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Damn this Ohio QB and receiver are amazing. Smith-Njigba has just been crushing records.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
They are getting ZERO pressure on Stroud. This is pitch and catch.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
Smith-Njigba was 5 yards away from matching what Iowa's leading WR put up for the whole season.
Re: NCAA Football 2021
I love the way these Ohio State receivers play. They're just really complete. They run good routes and they have good hands and can all accelerate. They're all going to be good pros.
