Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Apparently Luka likes to eat and not train to stay in shape.

Ummmmm
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
The Lakers are preparing for the retirement of LBJ, and Luka Dončić is poised to become the franchise player.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
The NBA went from clown show to clown circus. This reeks of league maneuvering to bolster shitty ratings and/or sabotaging the Dallas market so the new owners can move the team to Las Vegas.
It’s pretty disgusting. They didn’t even shop one of the top three players in the league.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Jerry Jones is so happy right now to no longer be the dumbest asshole in Dallas.
I’m literally floored. Not only did they trade a 25 year old MVP candidate, they did so for a shit package that only gives them ONE future first round pick and couldn’t even get any of the decent young players on the Lakers like Reaves.
Like wtf, this might be the worst trade I can ever remember since getting into sports 25ish years ago. Pure lunacy from the Mavericks, if I were a fan I would boycott.

As they should.
People are firing up their PlayStations and NBA live and trying to make the trade …the game won’t let them. That shows you how ratarded this is.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 12:27 pm Jerry Jones is so happy right now to no longer be the dumbest asshole in Dallas.

The NBA has been about the wrong things for a while now. Their off-season generates higher ratings than their regular season. Ratings in the tank. Three-point contest every night. Foul baiting. Load management.
This is the cherry on top of the shit sundae. The Dallas market is dead forever. I truly believe this is their attempt to destroy the fan base before moving the team to Las Vegas. The same ownership group who acquired the Mavericks, tried to get an expansion team in Las Vegas and were denied.
But again, the league has bigger problems. Nobody wants to watch it. The players don’t care. They have preyed on fans loyalty far too long.
even my dear Cavaliers are having an all-time season for them. I’ve barely watched it. Because the product is garbage.

Can someone give me a rough NFL equivalent of what this Luka trade amounts to be??
We're paying the price for a half-measure taken by The Union 160 years ago.
The New Union will correct that mistake.

Luka is 25. AD is 32.
Equivalant would be Evans for JJ.

Idgaf how poor his conditioning is. He literally lead them to the Finals last season! I’d fire a coach before I gave up on a 25 year old prodigy who has already proven he can carry a team.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
This deal will look better for the Mavs in the short term. People are sleeping on AD because he was stuck playing second fiddle to LeFraud and a position he didn't like. He wanted to play forward and since Dallas has 2 true centers, he will be able to do just that. He won't score like Luka but he is still a very effective scorer and unlike Luka, he plays defense.
Luka is going to LA where he will be paired with another player who wants to be ball dominant. This could well look like AB and TO fighting over who should be getting the ball. Unless the stories about Luka trying to eat his way out of the league are true, he will be the better player long term once Lebron is gone, assuming the situation doesn't melt down before then

Good trade by the Heat I guess
BREAKING: The Miami Heat are finalizing a deal to send Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick, sources tell Shams Charania.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green on the same team? Fire bout to go boom...Two locker room cancers on the same squad is gonna be a terrible way for GSW to end Curry's career.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
The NBA is a joke. Major players being shipped all over at the deadline.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Definitely. Short term it could be good for GSW as well. Jimmy Butler is a damn good player who, before he wears out his welcome, can carry a team. He isn’t at the peak of his powers anymore, but he is a playmaker.

Anthony Davis suffered an injury in his first game with Dallas, who would’ve thought? lmao
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
@Zarni is that you?
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/437 ... ricks-lossWith emotions from the Luka Doncic trade still raw, multiple fans were ejected in the second half of the Dallas Mavericks' 129-128 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday at the American Airlines Center due to violations of the NBA's code of conduct, according to a team spokesperson.
Each instance prompted boos from the crowd. Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont, whose family purchased the majority share of the franchise from Mark Cuban last season, also was loudly booed when he returned to his courtside seat with 2:56 remaining in the third quarter.
Two of the fans held large poster board signs that read, "FIRE NICO" -- a reference to Dallas general manager Nico Harrison. One of those men was seen mouthing "fire Nico" on the arena video screens earlier in the game before the camera quickly panned out.
"In the first incident, the guest brought in a sign that broke the following rule included in the NBA Code of Conduct: Clothing, garments or signs displaying explicit language, profanity or derogatory characterization towards any person(s)," Mavericks vice president of corporate communications Erin Finegold said in a statement released to reporters.
Harrison has been subjected to harsh backlash since agreeing Feb. 2 to the shocking blockbuster deal that was built around sending five-time first-team All-NBA selection Doncic, 25, to the Los Angeles Lakers and bringing 10-time All-Star big man Anthony Davis, 31, to Dallas.
Approximately 1,000 people protested outside the American Airlines Center before Saturday's home win over the Houston Rockets. "Fire Nico" and "sell the team" were common themes for chants and T-shirts.

Yeah…Shaq…such an infamous hard worker.
You know, the guy who put off getting surgery on his toe for months. Until the regular season started back up.
Because “if I get injured on company time, I can recover on company time.”
And a guy who Phil Jackson thinks could’ve won 10 straight MVP awards…if he had better work ethic.

I'd like to think there is an alternate universe where Shaq got the Dream Team invite over Laettner. If Shaq had been the room with that group, maybe he gets a work ethic as a rookie

Greg please retire, your health us more important
BREAKING: Gregg Popovich is “not expected to return this season, and his future is uncertain” as he recovers from a mild stroke per Shams.
If this is the end, what an incredible career:
All-Time leader in NBA Wins
5x NBA Champion
1x Olympic Gold
3x Coach of the Year
17x Coach of the Month
Led the Spurs to 22 post seasons

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I don't watch basketball like I did in the 90s and early 00s, but Curry is a once in a generation type player. Lebron is Lebron...he's hated and loved and he's doing things we've never seen, but Curry has changed the league and the game more than anyone since Jordan. His play in the Olympics and last night just show how rare he is. He has more 40 point games than anyone in history past the age of 30 by a wide margin and he's by far the greatest shooter of all time, but the thing I love watching is how active he is without the ball. He is the definition of hustle player and opens the entire team up. Watching him vs. a guy like Luka who doesn't move when he doesn't have the ball is such a stark difference.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
fuck this team
If Luka Dončić wins the NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers this year, how furious will Dallas Mavericks fans be?
If Luka Dončić wins the NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers this year, how furious will Dallas Mavericks fans be?
The Mavericks revealed on Monday that they are raising season-ticket prices for next season, just weeks after dealing star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Mavericks said season tickets will go up by an average of 8.61% next season and the increase is due to "ongoing investments in the team and fan engagement."
The Mavs have dealt with widespread fan discontent since last month's trade that sent the popular Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for a package that includes Anthony Davis, the talented but often injured 10-time All-Star.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Mavs fans already should be furious, if they literally handed the Lakers another title (and possibly more) that’s just a cherry on top of a shit sundae.
All this and they didn’t even get back a haul of picks or any kind of young player to build around too. It’s unbelievable how bad of a trade that was.

I haven’t watched much of Magic this season. How they do?… last I checked, they were sub 500. I'm not sure what happened after their great year last year.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Injuries. Our best players both had lengthy absences (Paolo especially) and they both took a little time to get right after coming back. Lost our best guard (Suggs) for the year and our best bench player (Mo Wagner) for the year. Worst three point shooting team in the league by a mile.
The fact we managed 41 wins and playoffs with all that is a testament to our defensive culture but the Magic won’t go anywhere far until we address the flaws on the roster offensively. We lack shooters and playmakers. We rely on Paolo and Franz for nearly all of our offense. With just a league average offense this is a 50+ win team and with a top 10 offense we can contend for titles.
