NCAA Football 2024
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Thanks For the dumb play-calling Texas. I had the +7.5 in the bag and you screwed me over with your bonehead 2nd and goal play call. Friggin tush push the guy or something.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Sawyer isn’t draftable.
Dude is so stiff and slow.
Good college player though!

Seeing OSU -10 on early spreads. I’d say ND covers that. You?

Re: NCAA Football 2024
Go Irish!!!
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Tough to predict. Ohio State has the better team but ND has played them extremely tight last 2 years. But it’s a tall task for the Irish. I think their defense can slow OSU down but I have a hard time seeing them scoring many points on that defense.

Re: NCAA Football 2024
NFL Draft Buzz has Jack Sawyer as the fifth best edge rusher in the draft and a projected second rounder, and while that site has only been around for a few years they are decently accurate.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
I trust my eyes at this point. Homie is stiff AF. If he played for Bowling Green, he’d be a late round pick at best.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Maxed out physically. Already slow. Strong, but everyone is strong in the NFL. Average athlete at best, with minimal bend, and short arms.
I’d consider him in the 7th. Someone needs to supply the roster with steroids.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Man, I hate rooting for Ohio State... but I cannot root for those Catholics.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Narrative seems to be this is a total talent mismatch and Ohio State going to do to Notre Dame what Georgia did to TCU. That may very well happen. But I do think Notre Dame and Penn State are obviously very similar and Penn State kept it to a touchdown game with them this year. And I think ND will keep this around a touchdown. If they can win the turnover battle then they can win. But turnovers aside, I think Ohio State wins by about 7-10 points. The spread about right. If I were to bet, I were to go under the first half total because I think this is like another 10-3 or 10-6 game at half. Probably very similar to the game these two teams played in 2022 and 2023. There’s no reason to think this game will be much different.

Re: NCAA Football 2024
Some trivia. I was looking up some stuff about OSU & ND and ended up falling down a rabbit hole.
The last time OSU won the NC was the 2014 season (HC: Urban Meyer). ND hasn't won since 1988 (HC: Lou Holtz)...26 years ago! That's the longest they've gone between championships since the 17 years between their 1949 and 1966 championships. OSU has won 8 championships with their first coming in 1942 (HC: Paul Brown). ND has won 11 with their first in 1924 (HC: Knute Rockne). OSU started playing football in 1890. ND started playing in 1887.
The first official college football game was played in 1869 between Rutgers and the College of New Jersey (now known as Princeton University). Rutgers won that contest 6-4. The game mostly resembled soccer and rugby, though, and used rules based on the London-based Football Association's 1863 rules that disallowed carrying or throwing the ball
The first American college football rules weren't written until 1876 by reps from Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. The first game with these rules was played between Yale and Princeton. Yale won 2-0.
College football rankings (AP) began in 1939. The champion that year was Texas A&M. The BCS rankings started in 1998 with Tennessee winning the BCS championship. The CFP rankings started in 2014 with Ohio State winning the first CFP championship.
The first radio broadcast of a college football game was on Oct. 8, 1921, between West Virginia and Pittsburgh. The first TV broadcast was on Sept. 30, 1939, between Fordham and Waynesburg.
Yale has won the most championships (18) with Alabama 2nd (16).
The Michigan Wolverines have the most wins (1,011). Their first season was in 1879.
Army is the only military college to win a championship. They did it 3 times (1914, 1944, 1945).

Re: NCAA Football 2024
This game is gonna set ratings records.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Yeah, that’s a good point. You actually made me think about it. If OSU wins the championship, then “The Game“ next year will be determined by teams that won last two titles
I’ll cheer OSU for this one time.

I believe the quarterback is the key to the game. Can RileY Leonard keep it up?Navybuc wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:42 am Narrative seems to be this is a total talent mismatch and Ohio State going to do to Notre Dame what Georgia did to TCU. Georgia QB Carson Beck commits to Miami for final season of college football.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
As an ex-Ohio resident for some of my early years, specifically the late '60s and early '70s, including their big, undefeated 1968 NCAA Championship season, all during the Woody Hayes era I should add, I will be rooting for OSU in this game.

Re: NCAA Football 2024
Just do what he did in the Georgia game. Run for a few…throw for a few. And don’t make mistakes. If Notre Dame doesn’t turn it over and then can force 3 or 4 turnovers on the other side, they can absolutely win. If Ohio State has an area where they’re not spectacular, it’s their offense line. They’ve had a lot of changing on that line throughout the year. And if you get to Howard, he’s prone to mistakes. And guess who is best in college football at getting to the passer and forcing mistakes? Hell…just ask Drew Allar. So I firmly believe that ND just needs to play their game…be patient on offense and don’t force anything…and let the defense try and force Howard into mistakes. It’s how they nearly beat Ohio State last year.Phantom wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:26 amI believe the quarterback is the key to the game. Re: NCAA Football 2024
So, you're saying if Notre Dame wins the turnover battle 4-0, they have a chance?
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Howard will absolutely make mistakes. It kind of blows my mind that they reached the national championship with him at the helm. The most skittish quarterback I’ve seen at Ohio State in a very long time.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
We went to a title game with Todd Boeckman!
Howard is way better than Boeckman

Re: NCAA Football 2024
For the life of me I don't understand how a Mich fan would ever root for Ohio St to win anything. Don't understand the SEC homers who want their biggest rival of the regular season to win it all either.
Seems like hoping the Falcons, Saints, or Panties will win a Super Bowl if Tampa can't be in it. Wrong, just wrong....
