@Navybuc Who do you want Notre Dame to play against the winner of the OSU-Texas game?

Sucks for Franklin.

Was an amazing performance by the team.

Hopefully we get to see a performance similar. Allar, man. I hope next year is better. Our wide receivers killed us like always.

Haha not going to lie. Texas. But I also don’t think ND would get blown out by Ohio State. It will be closer than people think if that game materializes. ND does play the kind of football that can neutralize OSU. Similar to Michigan.

I also think the game tonight is going to be close. I’m putting some $$$ on Texas after I adjust the spread up to 7. But Texas from a talent standpoint can go toe to toe with OSU and have home field. The concern is they haven’t played to their potential.

Back to the game, I thought the Penn State play-calling was very sketchy. In the first half, they were running it down the Irish throat and it seemed like every time they got into a short yardage situation they threw it. I didn’t get it. The play with Warren lining up at QB was working and they didn’t do it nearly enough. That game should have been like 20-0 in the first half and it gave the Irish a chance to regroup and make adjustments at halftime which obviously worked.

Also the knock I heard on Allar before the game was that if you pressure him, he makes mistakes. That’s why people liked ND…they thought Golden’s defense could rattle him. And boy was that ever the truth. Allar is not an NfL qb.

ND doesn't have a great QB or passing attack. I think Texas is the better match up, because if OSU goes vertical, ND can't catch up. OSU's game against Michigan, where they wanted to show they were a tough team and opted not to throw the ball is what lost them the game. That wasn't an issue of the defense dictating what the offense could do. Day just got in his own head and sure that's a possibility, but I think ND would fare better against Texas, personally.

That was the story last year, though, when OSU played ND…the Irish couldn’t keep up with Harrison and Egbuka. And then they shut them down. Turned into a defensive battle which OSU won on the last play of the game. I’m not sure OSU is significantly better passing in 2024 than 2023. Maybe a little bit but ND’s pass defense also better than 2023. I’m more worried about Ohio State’s ability to dominate the line of scrimmage and run on ND’s beaten up DL than I am the passing attack. If I’m OSU and beat Texas I am going with a run-heavy game plan on Jan 20. If they try to turn it into an aerial attack they risk losing.

Ohio State threw all over Oregon quite frankly because Oregon’s secondary is not very good. Even Penn State threw all over them but couldn’t get a completion to a WR last night. So going up against the ND secondary compared to Oregon is like night and day.

Personally I would like to see ND use Angeli more because I think he’s a much better passer than Leonard. Every time he has come in the game he makes it look easy throwing the ball. But they like Leonard’s ability to run the ball so they never make that change unless they have to. But next year I think you’ll see a more dangerous passing attack because both Angeli and CJ Carr known more for their arm than their legs and the Irish OL this year made up a lot of underclassmen. That Jagusah is a monster and will be a first round pick one day.

Manning is gonna play in this game at some point. Remember Tua and the second half of the national championship? After they benched hurts.

Somewhat reminiscent of last night. Feels so one-sided in the first half yet it’s only a touchdown game. The longer you let a team hang around the more chances you give them to get back in it.

Steve Sarkisian is one of the best second half coaches in years. He’s really good at adjustments. The buckeyes need to figure something out because it’s gonna be a different half of football.

Texas needs to forget hurting Ewers’ feelings and just bench him for Manning already. It’s now or never. Ewers is not going to win you this game.
