Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
It's funny and a little sad that the thread I created three+ years ago is still the one.
Also RIP to any post season dreams.

Sure, let's judge him on one single season and not pay attention to anything else he's done while manager.
Look at the Payroll. Look at the injuries to the pitching staff.
He's won Manager of the year twice. He's advance in three of the five playoff appearances including a trip to the WS.
If you're complaining about Cash, you must have a name in mind you'd want to replace him with, no?

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
I love how there has to be delays in funding because "reasons" and it's probably because they opted to play at Steinbrenner. You know what man? Just get the fuck out. Tell St. Pete they can keep their money. I don't even feel bad for the team. At this point I think Tampa is the way to go. I feel bad for people in St. Pete who were supposed to get affordable housing and for the community to finally get some sort or formal apology for how bad it got screwed over the first time.
Tell Pinellas County to take a hike, go to court to break the lease over the stadium that they refuse to fix and build somewhere Jeff Vinik can reach it so can partner up and make money.

Tampa and Hillsborough County leaders may, once again, be ready to play ball with the Rays as the team and Pinellas County leaders remain at odds over the new stadium deal.
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tampa and Hillsborough County leaders may, once again, be ready to play ball with the Rays as the team and Pinellas County leaders remain at odds over the new stadium deal.
The Rays will play the 2025 season at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa due to damages on Tropicana Field from Hurricane Milton.
The Tampa Sports Authority’s agenda for their Tuesday meeting includes a discussion about prep work for the facility.

Commissioner Ken Hagan said he has virtually met with members of the sports authority and Mayor Jane Castor about the possibility of creating a permanent home for the Rays in Hillsborough County.
“There’s economic, as well as quality of life benefits associated with any major league franchise,” Hagan said.
According to Hagan, county leaders will respect the ongoing negotiations between Pinellas County, the City of St. Petersburg, and the team.
“Most important thing was for the team to remain in Tampa Bay, but for any reason if things do not work out, that door would be open. We have that same position today, that door should be open, and we can resume conversations,” Hagan said.
Renderings show a previous proposal for a new stadium in Ybor City. Commissioner Joshua Wostal worries building a facility in Hillsborough would be a loss for taxpayers. “They are hard a work to try and put together these economic impact statements to try and justify taking more of your hardworking money to subsidize these billionaires,” he says.
The Tampa Sports Authority meets at Raymond James Stadium, on Tuesday at 4:00 PM

St. Pete is voting today on the bonds after delaying it over and over again. I can't wait to watch them vote against it and blame the Rays for this happening. Why the fuck would they show up to a meeting where St. Pete sets the project back? You blokes have had 18 years to figure this out and I doubt you will now. Milton to the rescue right?

The vote passes 4-3 today. Pinellas County will hold their vote on December 17.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Color me shocked. I genuinely believed St. Pete was gonna shoot it down like 5-2 and blame the Rays for not showing up for procedures that they knew damn well would delay the vote til December. If they do it on the 17th then yeah, that thing is dead and it's gonna be up to Hillsborough to find a solution
Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Well, that is good news. It is about time. I can’t wait to see the beautiful stadium when it is done being built.
