Re: NCAA Football 2024
I liked Ga Tech when they were the only P5 team running the flex option.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Agree. And I think this is only a 2-year trial before they potentially go to 14 teams or change the rules a bit.Cheb wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:28 pmSolution: get rid of automatic playoff bids.Navybuc wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:50 pm This is where the system could get really nuts. You could have 4 SEC teams in the playoff: Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss. Tennessee ends the year ranked No. 9 in the country, losing just a couple of games to say Georgia and Bama. An unranked Kansas wins the Big 12 and a No. 23 Clemson wins the ACC. Clemson is the No. 3 seed in the tournament, Kansas is No. 4, and Tennessee is left out of the CFP because the final spot has to go to a Group of 5 champion per the rules. This all because the CFP feels so bad for what happened to FSU a year ago that they feel the ACC champion has to get not just an automatic berth but a top 4 seed.
That's the scenario the SEC/Big 10 is waiting for so they can break-a-way from the CFP and create their own league and tournament.
Alot can happen on college football over time. If in ten years the Big 12 or whatever doesn't produce a conference champion who is one of the 12 best teams in the sport, then they shouldn't get in. The 12 best teams should.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
The most frustrating thing ever invented. I was at the ACC championship game at RayJay years ago when they were running that on Clemson. Near the end, our entire section was yelling "let them score" because it was better to get the ball back than to watch the clock bleed with 3 yards, 4 yards, 7 yards, 2 yards, 4 yards, another 4 yards. It's disgusting to watch.SaggyBallZ wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:00 pm I liked Ga Tech when they were the only P5 team running the flex option.

I love it.
They were running base triple option with Calvin Johnson on the team lol

Re: NCAA Football 2024
Nah. Calvin played under Chan Gailey and was pretty productive as a collegian. The Flexbone option offense was brought to Georgia Tech by Paul Johnson two seasons after Calvin left after his junior season.
You could make the same comment about DeMaryius who was on Tech's team when it was running the option.

I maybe was thinking of DT then. Good memory.Four Verticals wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:43 pmNah. Calvin played under Chan Gailey and was pretty productive as a collegian. The Flexbone option offense was brought to Georgia Tech by Paul Johnson two seasons after Calvin left after his junior season.

Speaking of memory. I recall Megatron’s college QB trying out for the NFL as a WR? I think
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Defending the flexbone triple option is irksome, but if you run blitz on early downs it becomes far more manageable, even moreso if you have an experienced defense who is assignment sound.Kress wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:10 pmThe most frustrating thing ever invented. Yeah, but like was said, they had Calvin Johnson coming over the top. You can't fix that.Cheb wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 1:47 amDefending the flexbone triple option is irksome, but if you run blitz on early downs it becomes far more manageable, even moreso if you have an experienced defense who is assignment sound.Kress wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:10 pm

Re: NCAA Football 2024
I just can't understand the Sanders hype. I'm consistently seeing him ranked in the top, sometimes as the top QB. There are so many better QBs out there. Miller Moss, for example, looked lightyears ahead of Sanders in the USC vs LSU game.
He makes boneheaded decisions and gets away with everything because he has a freak WR to throw to.

Re: NCAA Football 2024
As mentioned above, this was not the case.
Snake's point of the QB of the 2006 team (Calvin Johnson's final year) attempting to make it as a wideout is correct. Reggie Ball.

Would Lane Kiffen leave Ole Miss for Florida?
If the Gators aren’t at least already inquiring, they’re complete fools. I mean, the guy is winning games at Ole Miss of all places.

Re: NCAA Football 2024
Texas by double digits, easily.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Michigan's defense is legit, so I don't know if I'd say easily so... easily. But if Michigan's offense comes out as flat as they were last week, Texas is likely to take an early lead which we will find difficult to overcome given our style of play.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
Yeah, I'd say Texas is a safe bet. Not sure I'd lay the points, but anywhere around a TD seems about right.
Re: NCAA Football 2024
I saw that list, headed up by Lane Kiffen, as a possible candidate to replace Napier.
Also, former QB Kerwin Bell is the WCU head coach and has turned that program into a competitive one.
Just a sidebar, nothing serious
