My god does Dak have the Cowboys over a barrel.
Re: Goff: PAID!
This is just horrible. I hope Caleb Williams wins the division as a rookie.

Keeping the cement footed QB legacy alive almost single handedly in this day and age.
Re: Goff: PAID!
I guess Hendon Hooker will be on the bench for the next four years.

Re: Goff: PAID!
Considering they're almost the same age and Hooker sucks, I wouldn't say he was necessarily Goff's heir apparent.

Re: Goff: PAID!
We don’t know for certain if Hooker sucks, but the Lions wouldn’t pay Goff that if they thought Hooker was going to be the guy. Hooker got Kyle Trask’d, though a 3rd is easier to stomach than a 2nd.
Re: Goff: PAID!
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Goff has deeper playoff experience than some MVPs. Detroit wasn't about to let that go so they can take their 1000th dice roll on QB Hooker.
Like us they're thinking one word: window.
Unlike us they don't have Licht.

Re: Goff: PAID!
I think you mean to say Hooker was their 5th pick so it's a lot easier to swallow. The actually picks were only 4 away
Re: Goff: PAID!
I'm curious, can we say that Goff is better than Stafford. After all, Goff guided the Lions to 12 wins and two playoff victories, a feat Stafford never achieved.
Re: Goff: PAID!
Stafford won a ring, so no.
But would I say the Goff-Johnson fit is better than the Staffy-Linehan/Cooter fits ever were. That's what's important.

Re: Goff: PAID!
The Lions also picked in the top 10 for umpteen years and had other early picks from the Stafford trade before this run. One of those years courtesy of a 3-10-1 mark from Goff in his first 14 starts.
Can you imagine if Baker had done that his first year here? People around here complain about 9-8 and a playoff win from him.

Looks like the Lions decided to push the Falcons for 2024 Stupidest Offseason Move By An NFL Franchise award.
Don't tread on me
Re: Goff: PAID!
This is night and day from Trask. Hooker was never going to threaten Goff with a QB competition. If the Lions felt they wanted to move on from Goff, Hooker likely wouldn't have been part of the discussion to replace him.
And "we don't know that Hooker sucks"? Meh, his 7 years of college tape says otherwise IMO. There's a reason he was a 25 year old rookie.

Re: Goff: PAID!
If Tampa won 3 games last year, no one would be complaining about Mayfield because he wouldn't have gotten the extension and Jalen Daniels or Drake Maye would be our QB right now. Odds are, he wouldn't have even finished the season as the starter. To note, that 3-10-1 season was also a re-build year. Weird huh... they won 3 games in a re-build year, then 9, then 12 with 3 playoff wins. It's almost like "it worked". Go figure.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 7:21 amThe Lions also picked in the top 10 for umpteen years and had other early picks from the Stafford trade before this run. It's possible, if it's Jason Licht picking QB's. He's proven that he doesn't have an eye for projecting QB's. Maybe that's a change that needs to be made.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:03 amOr the next Jameis Winston?CannonFire wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 8:25 am

Re: Goff: PAID!
Goff is a better QB than Lamar Jackson, it's only fair he makes a bit more than Lamar.
Don't care about Lamar's regular season accolades. Dude comes up short in the playoffs and routinely looks like trash in losses against good teams. Yes Goff is overpaid. But I did not see many saying Lamar was overpaid last year.

Re: Goff: PAID!
It's interesting you went Lamar Jackson and not Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen or Matt Stafford seeing as Goff now makes more than all of them. . People kinda tell on themselves when trying to hide their agenda.Jonny wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 1:59 pm Goff is a better QB than Lamar Jackson, it's only fair he makes a bit more than Lamar.

If by "it" you mean taking what's in front of you, like a revived former first overall QB, and turning your team around.CannonFire wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 8:25 amIf Tampa won 3 games last year, no one would be complaining about Mayfield because he wouldn't have gotten the extension and Jalen Daniels or Drake Maye would be our QB right now. You're right. It does work. There are plenty of ways to find a QB in the NFL. Good for the Lions finding one.
And, yes, Hooker was 100% a QBOTF at one point for Detroit. But the NFL in constantly in flux and you need to adapt to shifting landscapes.

The Rams had a squad and they felt Goff held them back. Remains to be seen if the Lions can get over the hump with him under center.

Detroit feels like they have the guy that is gonna take them where they want to be so they paid him to be that guy.
Isn't that what we want??
