Examples of XFL getting crafty with it
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
I really think it's going to open up ST in a while new way.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Unless you're one who emphatically enjoys touchbacks, I don't see how anyone has objections to this change.

I don't like this. I really, really don't.
Fuck.
I have to agree with you on that point. Player safety is being protected by changing where the team lines up. Potential exciting play is being increased with the rules about the landing zone, etc.
Squib kicks will be out no more cork screws down the center of the field.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
A squib kick would be spotted at the 40, so yes, I think it would be gone from the game unless there is less than 5 or 6 seconds on the clock13F11B wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:30 pmI don't like this. I really, really don't.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Two scores down and they know it's over. Onside kick?
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
So...how long before they start finding kickers that can get the ball through the endzone from the 30?
Don't tread on me
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Now that I think about it, the clock would be stopped the second it landed outside the box so it would be blown dead immediately. So yes, squib kick fully killedkaimaru wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:10 pmA squib kick would be spotted at the 40, so yes, I think it would be gone from the game unless there is less than 5 or 6 seconds on the clock13F11B wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:30 pm

I doubt it is going to happen but where should the Chiefs move if they relocate after the 2031 season?
Portland? Austin?

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Right where we like to be.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
We were "expected" to miss the playoffs last season. These hot takes mean less than nothing in April.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Last year we expected less than 4 wins.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
For the 2023 season, most major sports outlets did their predictions for the season. NBC sports, SI, CBS Sports, ESPN, Bleacher Report, and the publication above Pewter Report to name a few all predicted the Bucs to miss the playoffs.
So it is based in fact that a lot of the major national sports media outlets and a regional one predicted the Bucs to miss the playoffs.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
I know I expected the Bucs to miss the playoffs, but that's because I thought the other teams were going to be better than what they were. I expected 9+ wins would be needed to make the playoffs. I just expected the Bucs to be around 7 or 8. The Saints were about where I thought they'd be... I had them at 9 or 10 and thought Atlanta would be in the mix as well. They were. We got in simply because of a tie-breaker. It really all boils down to the fact that we beat Minnesota and the Saints didn't.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Yes, that was never in question. Your take "These hot takes mean less than nothing in April." was what I was asking about. I assume that is just casual fan opinion.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 10:08 amFor the 2023 season, most major sports outlets did their predictions for the season. Interesting in this case Casual Fan opinion was better than 'expert writer' opinion... perhaps casual fan opinion is not so bad, heh?
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Well what can accurately be assessed about a team before the draft even occurs? There is still time for player acquisition, draft picks, trades, cuts, etc. Saying in April what a teams outcome will be come January when the roster is far from complete is premature. I think most would agree.13F11B wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 3:04 pmYes, that was never in question. Your take "These hot takes mean less than nothing in April." was what I was asking about. Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
The media all said without Brady we were bottom tier. The fans on here said we were still a superbowl talented roster.
We landed somewhere in the middle.

Glad to see that casual fan opinion can be correct while expert opinion can be wrong. I hope you will remember that in your arguments this fall.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 3:25 pmWell what can accurately be assessed about a team before the draft even occurs? That is up to you. I don't care to pick nits on that point. My focus was on casual fan opinions which you have attacked people about in the past. Now, based on your 'hot take' there is no difference between an expert take and a casual fan take. I am happy after years and years you have finally admitted that. Takes a big man to admit they were wrong for years and years and years.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Two years after alternate helmets designs were approved to return to the NFL, the league has expanded its uniform policy to allow for a third helmet to be added to teams' uniform closets, the league announced via a memo sent to clubs on Wednesday.

Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Oh God I forgot we can wear the dreadful creamsicles now. Those uniforms are associated with nothing but misery and embarrassment. Why we would want to showcase them now is beyond me.
But I guess the NFL gets to sell a whole new set of jerseys, so that's likely the answer why.
Re: ***2024 NFL Offseason thread ***
Here is an example of the Bucs' third alternate helmet.
