You used the word wrong there. That would mean that something was proven to be wrong.

Do yall like PFF today or not?
His grade of 42.1 was even lower than that of Feiler & Stinnie.

LG or Center and CB if they draft one 1st/2nd. EDGE? Maybe long snapper?

Right. That statement means very little in mid-March.Four Verticals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 2:37 pmI took that as an "at the moment" comment. He really can't put it any other way.
For comparison when Brucr Arians was hired he stated Gerald McCoy was the starting 3T. McCoy never played a down for Bruce Arians.

Using the term he was a "defacto starter" due to injuries to Davis and Dean really didn't feel like "at the moment"Four Verticals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 2:37 pmI took that as an "at the moment" comment. He really can't put it any other way.

Licht chucking very cheap darts at the OL board. I don't hate it.
But if not one of these guys puts in a single quality snap for us all year you can't be shocked.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Licht is putting quantity over quality with O'line signings. The Bucs really need quality offensive linemen who can open up some holes for the running game.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
He's done it for a few years now. Should be no surprise that the Oline has been an overall weak group and weak spot on this team.

How do you think you find quality?
You sign your guys and let the cream rise and you draft BPA.

And now it's just Wirfs.
You shouldn't sit in past glory. The NFL is ever changing and you'd better change with it.
Imagine Jason Licht answering to having one of the worst OLs in football with "but I had Tristian Wirfs, Ali Marpet, and Ryan Jensen 3 seasons ago".

Demar, Donovan, Makins, Stinnie, Cappa...
Like we were never the old school Broncos, but we haven't been a truly awful OL in awhile.

I'm still a little sour at Ali. Think he could've made a huge difference these last few years.
Assuming Cody takes a second year leap. That'd be 4 young, really good homegrown OLmen in during a good window.

Can’t say I’m familiar with any of these guys, but I still think we address IOL at least once in the 1st 3 rounds. Heck, wouldn’t mind if we did it twice.
That being said, Goedeke took a sizable leap in year 2, hopefully Mauch will do the same. Hainsey is what he is and is going into his last contract year.

There are some great iOL who could easily be BPA at our picks.

Licht is a General Manger for an NFL franchise. We're fans, who are nobody's, so yeah we can live in past glory all we want.Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 6:02 pmAnd now it's just Wirfs.

Nothing wrong with feeling slightly sad that our oline which won the SB a few years ago is basically all gone, save for Wirfs.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Yeah, I feel similar. Marpet retiring is the only reason Stinnie was in at LG during training camp. Stinnie then gets destroyed during practice, because he's not very good, and proceeds to effectively retire Jensen as well.
Throw in Cappa going to the Bengals, Donovan Smith getting holding calls every other play, and Brady being mentally checked out, it's no wonder the 2022 season was doomed from the start.

You missed the entire point of the what the person said and are arguing with a red herring.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
In the past 10 years we’ve taken 6 O-line in the top 3 rounds. Assuming that’s 30 picks, or 20% of our premium picks have gone to O-line. O-line represents 22% (5/22) of a starting football lineup, so we allocate draft resources to O-line at pretty consistent rate maybe a very slightly lower rate than we should (assuming the goal is % of football lineup = % of draft resources). We’ve also hit on at least 3 of those 6 linemen.
So Licht is using premium picks to draft O-line at about the rate a team would expect, and he’s finding success when doing so.
I just wouldn’t call that years of neglect in the draft. We should maybe have used another 1, 2 picks on O-line these past 10 years, but that’s about it.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Wanted someone else with the pick, he never quite put it all together as a player. But he did have an out of body experience in the 2020 playoffs and was absolutely pivotal in a Buccaneers championship. For that I'll always appreciate him as a player.
And I'm glad his Bucs tenure didn't end with a crippling 'thank you for your service contract'. Clean break, minimal resentment.
Good luck (but not that much) DW, thanks for the chip.

The Jensen injury and Marpet retirement impact the "success" as well.Sdbucs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 1:34 pm In the past 10 years we’ve taken 6 O-line in the top 3 rounds.
