It’s not his fault
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I think that's a fairly apt comparison. Above average blockers whose surprising resiliency after the catch makes them YAC monsters. Kittle is a better in line Y, Bowers a better move F-type, but both can do both.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 8:45 amI googled that same and most hits were that Bowers was the better pass catcher and better athlete over Mayer with Mayer having a slight edge in blocking.
Bowers is the best prospect since Pitts. Everyone was high on Pitts for his potential, but Brock was the better player in college.
Bowers is being compared to Kittle by many.

I don't have him on my list - I need to redo my list and he still won't be there.

Some boards have him going at the top of the 2nd round. But me, I think he will be made an ole man faster than Adam Humphries.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
More like Hunter Renfrow.

It's gonna change when they add the comp picks, but having one pick between 125 and 243 leads me to believe that we need to look for any crumbs left over real hard.

ESPN is a good data point. I use them and CBS frequently. What I appreciate most these days is NFLDraftBuzz, whose prospect pages amalgamate all the rankings from all the major sites, which gives you a solid median and mean.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:59 am @Cheb Is this the board we believe?

I also like draft buzz but they need to show when they update. Their sim is a bit sketchy, try it.

If Daniel Jeremiah is right and 6 out of 13 teams pick a QB that means someone is falling to us
https://www.joebucsfan.com/2024/02/the- ... al-demand/“The teams that I talk to — and really I shouldn’t say ‘teams, personnel executives, general managers, their personal opinons on these guys is all over the place. But there’s [J.J.] McCarthy teams, there’s [Michael] Penix teams, there’s Bo Nix teams,” Jeremiah told The Rich Eisen Show, referring to Tier 2 of potential franchise QBs in the 2024 draft. “So you’re looking at six quarterbacks right there. And we’re getting to pick No. 13 and I’ve got eight teams that could be potentially quarterback teams, which means don’t be shocked if we see an unprecedented run on these guys.”

I remember when Malik Willis was being mocked in the top 2. Personally, I think Penix and McCarthy drop out of the 1st. Nix Late 1st, maybe, to a team in the top 10 that missed on the big 3 trading back in.kaimaru wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:32 pm If Daniel Jeremiah is right and 6 out of 13 teams pick a QB that means someone is falling to us

We still have to learn where Fields, Cousins, Wilson, Mayfield, and to a lesser extent Tannehill (not sure he'll be looked at as a starter anymore) all land too. Which will definitely shake up where the rookies go.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I don't know about Cousins being seen as a starter. 12 years in the NFL and only 3 playoff births and one win? I am also not sure that Wilson will get more than a prove it deal. While there are inquiries about Fields, I am not sure what Chicago is demanding or even if they are in fact moving on since there have been reports that the front office is split on Fields. I doubt anyone in the top 13 is in play for Fields either. We already know Atlanta is moving on. We know Minnesota is looking for a QB. Rumors are there are talks for Washington to trade Sam Howell, so they will be in play. If Chicago moves on from Fields then they are in.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 9:00 amI remember when Malik Willis was being mocked in the top 2. That's four and we can add NE, Denver, and LV. Seattle promoted Pete Carroll bc he refused to coach a rookie QB so that's 8. While I agree not 6 in the top 13, but definitely a lot of QB needy teams this year. Can't assume they will be there in the second round they way they are over drafted

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Uhh. Someone will 100% sign Cousins to be their starter. Don't know what happens with Wilson? He's under contract with a massive dead cap hit. Fields will start somewhere. Hell, I don't like him at all, and if we decide not to retain Baker I'd certainly give up our 2nd to see if we can fix him.kaimaru wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 4:51 pmI don't know about Cousins being seen as a starter. 12 years in the NFL and only 3 playoff births and one win? Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Cousins is not Aaron Rodgers. He's a 36 year old QB that has won nothing his entire career. We will see, but I think there will be a rookie movement this year for QBs. Wilson was benched this year, not for play but to prevent the injury guarantee that activates the 37 million bonus immediately instead of on 3/17/24. The reason reported was to try and trade or possibly release Wilson before thenGrahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 4:57 pmUhh. Someone will 100% sign Cousins to be their starter. The Vikings haven’t been the best run organization. He also had the great displeasure of playing for Washington.
Put cousins on the 49ers this past season and watch him Cook.

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I think the Broncos might end up getting him.McCarthy continues to impress NFL scouts and they say that he “would be Joe Burrow if he were on a team that threw the ball”.
As of now, he’s the QB4 and mock drafts have him becoming a Giant or a Viking, but his ceiling is still far away and might surpass Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels by April.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
The latest mock on the draft network has the Vikings moving up to 5 to take him. CrazyPhantom wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 9:47 amI think the Broncos might end up getting him.McCarthy continues to impress NFL scouts and they say that he “would be Joe Burrow if he were on a team that threw the ball”.

Would you give Kittle a first round grade though?Cheb wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:37 pmI think that's a fairly apt comparison. You aim for your first round pick to be a game changer, and Tight Ends don't really impact the game like other positions unless they're elite talent like Kelce, Gronk, etc.
Kittle is a step down from that game changer, elite tier. I'd be ok with him in the second round.
But if we're saying Bowers = Kittle and then also mocking him to the top 10... yeesh sounds like overpaying to me.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
mdb wonders if that word was used correctly in that sentence.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
If Evans leaves, I think Troy Franklin, WR from Oregon, looks pretty good at the end of the first round. He's basically a slightly taller version of DeVonta Smith.

Javon Baker UCF?
