Three centers at the top of the list
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
What's your opinion? Will Peny Boone declare?
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Doing my usual find the stat guys and found weird. I thought maybe it was a ESPN misprint so I checked and found even more.
Duke has 2 nose tackles that are under 200 lbs.
I'm guessing it's a create confusion 3rd and long thing

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Both those guys are significantly older than your typical rookie. They’ll be 24 when the draft rolls around. I think they’ve both had a few significant injuries as well. Maybe those things don’t matter so much for a QB? I’m sure teams will take it into consideration though.Navybuc wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 8:22 amAny mock with Michael Penix and Bo Nix left out of the first round isn’t very reliable.Phantom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 1:08 pm Here’s an update WalteFootball update mock draft
3 Qbs taken in the first round
Bears- Caleb Williams
Falcons- Jayden Daniels
Bucs- JJ McCarthy? Over Bo Nix? I don't know about that.

Jayden Daniels would be my third QB. Hope we get a chance to draft him.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I don't see it with Daniels. He reminds me of an inferior Jalen Hurts.

Where is the strength of this draft and how might that help us?
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
@MJW are the offensive linemen in this draft a jumbled mess?
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
We have a thread on him here.
If his first read isn’t there, he will run or check it down. It’s not in his game to go through progressions. He’s also scattershot in the short to intermediate.
It’s gonna be a fascinating thing to watch unfold.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Accuracy is poor right now. Arm strength doesn't show up on film all the time, especially down the field, where he often throws deep balls that looks like something from a Steve Walsh reel. I'm sure this is due to poor mechanics.
IMHO, he's closer to Malik Willis at this point than, say, Lamar Jackson. Much closer.

Good luck
Breaking: Gamecock Football QB Spencer Rattler has declared for the 2024 NFL draft, he announced on social media.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Hey won't be the first disappointing college player to get drafted because he was a 5-Star prep. Hell, Robert Nkemdiche and Dorial Green-Beckham were both Top 40 guys.

Wayne Ruby, Jr. , Mount Union
Deangelo Hardy , North Central (IL)
Collin Brunstein , Illinois Col.
Collin has some really special game by game stats - would welcome a camp chance

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
If we win the South Dallas Turner from Bama could be on our radar in the 1st. Assuming one of or both LVD/David are gone.
2nd round. Jeremiah Trotter’s kid.
Edgerrin Cooper is good in coverage.
Mondon from Georgia later.
We need more big school knows how to win type kids.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
Feel like a good litmus test for a QB is
A. What do they do under duress?
B. What do they do in the red zone?
Lately the league has started placing a premium on mobile QBs, but a lot of these guys struggle with both A and B and bust. I’m just hoping we don’t make this mistake.
Guys like Sanders, like Fields, like Trubisky etc. make bad decisions under duress and struggle reading throws in the red zone.
Guys like Caleb, Maye, Nix (in the limited time I’ve seen them) have looked capable enough in the red zone and don’t blunder under duress as often as I’ve seen with Samders and the LSU guy.
Nix has actually grown on me a lot this season and I wouldn’t mind him at our pick.

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
So it begins.
North Carolina redshirt sophomore quarterback Drake Maye tells ESPN that he’s forgoing the remainder of his eligibility at UNC to declare for the NFL Draft, per Pete Thamel. He’s a strong contender for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I don't know much about Harrison Jr, but Malik Nabers is such an explosive and fluid athlete with amazing body control on contested catches. We have a giant need for a pass rusher, but if Licht traded up to nab Nabers I would be ecstatic.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
If we trade up to nab anybody other than a QB, wasting future resources, I'll be pissed.
Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
I have mixed feelings about every QB. I hate evaluating the QB position, I feel it's the most skewed position of all. Especially since most of college is just poor ball overall, big kids beating up on guys who are actually graduating.
Nabers is hella nice and I wouldn't mind a trade up for him in the least. There are a lot of QB fallers who would be very interesting in Day 2.

Re: ***Official 2024 Draft Thread!!***
This is exactly my reasoning as well. I hate picking a QB in the first in the hopes that they will be the next Mahomes or Lamar (as a few seem to say about Williams, Penix and Daniels). Mahomes was a very raw college prospect that very few could have projected to be as good as he is. Jalen Hurts was correctly drafted in late second and allowed to develop systematically by putting a kick ass team around him.Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 6:20 pm I have mixed feelings about every QB. I just feel like there are some other players who are a near guarantee to succeed barring injuries like it happened with Sammy Watkins and Clowney.
