I wouldn't be too worried about Bryce Young or the Panthers. If Tua could succeed, Mac Jones looked competent at least when the Pats roster looked competent, Bryce Young will eventually turn into a good QB.

Re: Week 9 Discussion
In 2012, Andrew Luck led the league in turnovers while RG3 won ROTY. It's a marathon not a sprint. Not saying this is the path Young & Stroud are on, but your rookie year shouldn't be the projected trajectory for your career.

Agree. And I think Young will eventually figure it out. But in the present moment, if I was a Panthers fan, I’d be concerned…but not panicking by any means. But dang…Stroud looks good.
Re: Week 9 Discussion
No one ever panics until it's 5 years later. Then it's all obvious hindsight.
Re: Week 9 Discussion
Of course you would. Fans are very short sighted. Each win is seen as the start of a long win streak and invincibility. Each loss means the next one will be worse and it's time to fire everybody.

Welcome back!
Breaking: Kyler Murray will start for the Arizona Cardinals this week, barring a setback, coach Jonathan Gannon announced.

Another "Market Bowl" tonight. The NFL honestly over did it this year giving their big markets so many primetime games. Teams like the Chargers, Jets, Bears, Giants play in these big markets but they aren't good or fun teams to watch.

To be fair this should've been an awesome game when they scheduled it

Re: Week 9 Discussion
Your correct. It is the TV advertisers who urge the NFL to have big city teams in primetime. As bad as these teams are, the advertisers get more exposure than a game between say the Bucs and Titans. It all comes down to money.
Re: Week 9 Discussion
I mean was it? The Jets with Rodgers were still a huge question mark. And if Justin Herbert played in any other market, he'd he Kirk Cousins. A .500 QB that puts up good stats but doesn't elevate the team to many wins.

Re: Week 9 Discussion
Biggest proof of this is the Giants having more primetime games than the Bengals. The Bears had the worst record in football and they have the same number of Primetime games as the Bengals and Jags, who both won playoff games last year.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 7:58 pmYour correct. Re: Week 9 Discussion
I have watched the replay of the game... the officials and Bowles fucked up the end of the game.
1) The ball was recovered by Mike Evans with 37 seconds.
2) Bowles elected to not take the 10 second run off at that time taking it to 27 seconds
3) How the fuck did the officials put the clock back to 49 seconds?
12 seconds would have given the Buccaneers the win.

Re: Week 9 Discussion
Officials put the 10 second run-off back on the clock without doing the run-off. One would hope there was someone on the staff that might have said something to Bowles. Up in the DC area could only watch via RedZone but that whole sequence based on what was shown on RZ was just pure chaos.13F11B wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:51 pm I have watched the replay of the game... the officials and Bowles fucked up the end of the game.

Re: Week 9 Discussion
I think because the fumble from Palmer was a dead ball. Once he fumbles it and Mike advanced it another several seconds went off the clock but shouldn’t have inside two minutes.13F11B wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:51 pm I have watched the replay of the game... the officials and Bowles fucked up the end of the game.

It was not a dead ball until Mike recovered it. Mike recovered it at 44 ish. At worse it should have gone to 44 seconds.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:01 pmI think because the fumble from Palmer was a dead ball. Fair enough. The Texans scored with 6 seconds left…13F11B wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:04 pmIt was not a dead ball until Mike recovered it. Mike recovered it at 44 ish. At worse it should have gone to 44 seconds.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:01 pm

Re: Week 9 Discussion
Perhaps Bowles would have taken the 10 second runoff if he realized they were going to add time back to the clock. He was a dumbass for taking the TO anyway, but maybe he would have not burned the TO if he knew 49 seconds were on the clock.
Just to be clear. Bowles deserved to lose, but that was fucked up.

Maybe? I’d have to think the officials relay that information when they asked what he wanted to do?13F11B wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:19 pmPerhaps Bowles would have taken the 10 second runoff if he realized they were going to add time back to the clock. Either way that’s twice in the last 4 games we’ve bungled the “last possession” giving the other team ample time to score and win the game.
Not to mention the end of the first half letting the time go down without using a timeout. I guess now he knows a team can score with less than 50 seconds and two timeouts?!
Bowles deserved to lose. I’m done with him. Baker didn’t. He played his ass off.

Re: Week 9 Discussion
Agree with everything. If you are going to get 30+ seconds at 14 yd line and 4 pass plays at minimum towards the end zone, a timeout has so much more value than 10 seconds on game clock. A time out in your pocket prevents the need of having to lose a down by a spike, if Baker decides to scramble or go for a shorter safer completion in the middle. Also it isn't like we were in threat to lose the game. We were well within FG range.13F11B wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:19 pmPerhaps Bowles would have taken the 10 second runoff if he realized they were going to add time back to the clock. There is simply no justification to Bowles opting to use up the timeout, whether the refs were going to leave 29 seconds or 39 seconds on the clock.
