IABL Predict The Score: Week 1, Tampa Bay at Minnesota, 10 September
IABL Predict The Score: Week 1, Tampa Bay at Minnesota, 10 September
Welcome to another season of It's a Buc's Life's annual contest series, Predict The Score.
After all these years, I know y'all know what to do.
But to recap: For any given week, first, predict the winning team. Among those, closest in total points to the closest score wins. In the case of a tie, there's a tiebreaker, something about the game. If two people choose the same exact score and the same exact tiebreaker, the first one to predict wins as the second tiebreaker. You are allowed to change your prediction by noting that you made a chance in an edit to your prediction post, mentioning old and new prediction. However, this stops 15 minutes before official kickoff. If the winner for any given week wants a sig, I'll do my best with my limited skills to make them one. If you happen to hit the score straight but for the wrong sides, example it's Bucs 23 Vikings 17 but you picked Vikings 23, Bucs 17, then you get an "Honorable Mention" and if requested I'll try to make a Bizarro sig for you.
At the end of the year, among those who won the most time, net closest score for those wins gets kudos and again if they want, a special sig as well as I can make one.
I know, Nano's been running it a few years. I did for a few years before him with Crocaneer's help before I burned out. So if he wants to take up the Final-Decision role and run the series again, I'll just make sigs based on his final calls for each week, not a problem. If not, well here I am, starting at least one new season's post.
-------------
Yuck, what a wall of text!
I'll begin. I hope we develop a scoring machine of an offense but until I see otherwise I'm sticking with Bucball just like last season.
With that in mind, we're on the road for our first game, against the Vikings. They open as six point favorites.
Our tiebreaker will be Mr. Baker Mayfields' total yards, passing + rushing.
My opening prediction in mind with my Bucball mentality is Tampa Bay 17, Minnesota 10, and to hell with the point spread.
Total yards: 225 total.
Good luck to you all.

I often look for a nice opposing message board. I'll see if this one qualifies. If the response to this mellow opening post is pure vitriol, fine.
Edit: It wasn't.

Vikings 23, Bucs 10. Defense plays well but turnovers and special teams give the Vikings too many short fields.
Mayfield hits an even 300, but half of it comes when the game is out of reach.

Re: IABL Predict The Score: Week 1, Tampa Bay at Minnesota, 10 September
After watching that game between Duke and Clemson last night, it is clearly evident anything can happen. Every time Clemson got into the red zone, they shot themselves in the foot. Will it be the Vikings or Bucs that shoot themselves in the foot? Which of the 2 teams have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot? With the exception of a few years, it has always been the Bucs who have found innovative ways to lose games.

Neither defense is special; so the edge deservedly goes to the team with the elite weapon.
Minnesota JJ’s 26
Bucs 18
Baker cooks for 241.

I can offer you a sig, but the crown comes if you win the year. Still, well done Jonny. You're king of the hill this week.
