MLB 23
Re: MLB 23
First to 30!!!
Let go Rays!
Let go Rays!
Re: MLB 23
As good as the Rays are, their bullpen is a trainwreck.
Re: MLB 23
Rasmussen is on the 60 day IL with a strain flexor and could face Tommy John surgery.
This offense has to carry the team.

Re: MLB 23
Our bullpen is terrible
Re: MLB 23
Maybe they should search the Bay Area for some talent. Couldn't be worse, right?

Don't tread on me
Re: MLB 23
The Rays have won game #35 already on May 22nd. 20 years ago they didn't win game 35 until July 23rd and finished the year 63-99.
@Phantom how bout them Rays.

Re: MLB 23
Can we clone Pete Fairbanks? We'd probably be closer to 40 wins, maybe more, if we could do that. How many leads has the Rays bullpen given up that led to a loss?

Don't tread on me
Re: MLB 23
Rays down 10-1 in the 6th. 1st real "ass kicking" they've had this season.

Re: MLB 23
20-1 after a 9 run 9th because Cash "rested" his bullpen and used position players instead. LOL! Ass whooping indeed. Let's just hope that got it out of their system for at least the next 50+ games.

Don't tread on me
Re: MLB 23
Yea I turned it off as soon as he put Raley in. I knew it was a done deal. Didn't expect to wake up to 20-1 though.

Re: MLB 23
No kidding.
Rays starters have a league best 2.92 ERA.
Rays relievers have the 6th worst ERA at 4.52.
Cash needs to stop trying to force his bullpen love on the league.

Re: MLB 23
No! They have to rest after 80 pitches so they can probably blow out their arm in a freak accident anyway!
Re: MLB 23
Glasnow is back. Looks pretty good all things considering. 3 runs through 4 but 8 strikeouts. Stuff looks good.

We need bullpen help. Urgently. We can't sleep on this come trade deadline

That said though, a ton of this, most of this is on Cash. This bullpen has thrown FAR MORE innings than the next closest pen, 228.1 to 208.2. These guys get taxed way too much. It's a tough task asking your pen to get you 4-5 innings per night. He needs to lean on these starters more. Let them work through 100+ pitches sometimes. Stop pulling guys after 6 innings and 80 pitches. Cash is doing a disservice to this pen.

Re: MLB 23
Josh Fleming sucks
Re: MLB 23
I'll never understand Cash.
If one of his aces goes 5 innings of shutout ball with like 3 hits given up he pulls the guy in the 6th after like 75 pitches.
But today this scrub gives up 7 runs in the 1st 3, including 2 Homer's and Cash let's him go 3 more innings, giving up 3 more runs.
Make it make sense.

May as well quote this together because it encompasses two major points. I've seen enough of Taj Bradley to know I want to see him stick around. We are deep enough into the season now to know our offense can drop a dozen runs on almost anyone on any given day. Making Bradley a starter is gonna save us from spending the bullpen so frequently because we don't have another starter on so many days. Just let the kid play and give our offense chance to support him. Trade anything not nailed down for a reliever. Consider even 2 relievers because this ain't gonna hold up in October. It's crazy to think this team could have been at like 44 wins right now if our bullpen wasn't what it is.
We can win against anyone on any given day. That is firmly established now. Now we begin the marathon and unless Cash has a plan he's not telling us about to let our starters go longer later into the season to give us better chances to win (I would be okay with this) this may not be sustainable over an entire season til the bottom falls out on the bullpen.
You can't take these 20-30 pitches you're saving home with you every time a guy goes 5 stellar innings and you stop him at 80 pitches
Re: MLB 23
@These Are The Days Very well said.
McClanahan is the early fav for the Cy Young right now. Eflin has been worth every penny of that large contract. Bradley has been as good as advertised and will only get better. Glasnow is healthy now and looked very good yesterday. His endurance will build up. Play around with the 5th day if you must but Cash just let this Fleming guy go 6 shitty innings.
This offense as you've stated we can win on any day against anyone. This offense is that good. They literally average over 6 runs a game through 55 games. Let these starters go. This pen isn't going to rescue anyone all that often.

Re: MLB 23
FUCKING CASH!! WHY PULL BRADLEY AFTER HE RETIRES THE 1ST 2 BATTERS IN THE 6TH? Guys only thrown 90 pitches, 3 hits, 1 walk, 1 unearned run in a 1-0 game. This is why this bullpen fucking sucks. The arms are overused.

How’d the bullpen do after you threw your tantrum?

Re: MLB 23
Rangers could be this year’s surprise team. I actually met Corey Seager a while back and guy is stand up, first class. Hard not to root for him. I hope they can beat out the Astros in the West.
Re: MLB 23
Most runs scored. Fewest runs allowed. 2nd best record through the 1st 2 months. Texas isnt surprising anybody. They are a threat.
