It is amazing what Randy is doing. Small sample size but the guy just seemingly turns into peak roids Barry Bonds at will the second the playoffs start from a guy you've watched and say "Yeah he's a good. Not great but he's good"

Any time I see Buster Posey's name I get mad all over again thinking back to when we took Tim Beckham over him in the draft.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
The only time I've ever gotten a ball at a game, it was a Tim Beckham foul ball.
Actually, it was a two-batter baseball. Kiermaier singled, it went back to the pitcher, then Beckham fouled off the first pitch.

Yep. Seems like a Rays trade isn't complete without a shortstop.acmillis wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 12:28 pmBut we needed ANOTHER shortstop…apparently every yearKing Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:07 am

Posey didn't take 5+ years to make it to the Majors either.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Lol don't get me started on their drafting. They think every shortstop they take will develop into some other position player. Imagine taking some nobody shortstop from some nowhere highschool in California instead of Brandon Lowe hoping he'd turn into a 2nd baseman
But all said keep Diaz, Choi and Zunino too for the love of God. I'd rather us be through with the musical chairs infield

Rays go down 2-0 in the 1st. Panic time, right?
Nah, how about an RBI single followed by a grandslam to make it 5-2.

The Sox are just on tonight. Rays pitching isn't even bad tonight. Sox are killing the baseball

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Pretty much. It's not like they were going to lay down and die. Onto the next one. I think we need to start Choi at 1st and keep Meadows in the lineup. Margot or Cruz can DH if necessary. I don't dislike Luplow but that is a streaky cat we're dealing with. He always has been. You don't sit him when he's hot and it's too soon for me to tell if he is. I know what I'm getting with Choi. Kiermaier tries his ass off but he's an easy out well over half the time and we can't afford any more if Luplow is cold. I can stomach Zunino because any time he touches a baseball you've got like a 1 in 8 chance it's leaving the parkKing Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 10:03 pm The Sox are just on tonight. Also save us Rasmussen and Yarborough

Some small good news at last and the only thing these morons have to say is "We're excited about Montreal" sweet Christ alive... build it without a dome and tell Stewie to piss off after he sells the team for $1 billion. Or the MLBPA needs to declare an open act of war on this stupid idea and force it to never be brought up again
Imagine a team playing in Tropicana Field to spend the rest of the season in an even bigger Tropicana Field

I don't think we can spread sheet our way out of this. We've got exactly one viable starting pitcher right now. Injuries man...

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Margot was pushed off the bag at 2B. Shady as hell not to overturn that call. I mean, the dude got back to 2B and the ump waits on calling him safe, to see if the Sox player's tag pushes him off the bag? Da bleep is that nonsense?

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
If the Rays win tonight, they win this series. Boston isn't coming back here and winning a game 5.
At the risk of jinxing the Rays, they haven't lost 3 games in a row since June

Glad Cash stopped dicking around with the lineup and put the best guys on the field tonight. Choi will hopefully come in when the Sox put in a RHP.

Game over
Bad Sox win
Bad Sox win
Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
As a Pirates fan… fuck the Red Sox.
Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Best regular season in team history, win game 1, confidence is high....then the bottom drops out. It's okay though, this spares the heartbreak of losing in the WS to one of the two NLW teams.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
This hurt. This team had enough to go all the way. They underwhelmed in the worst way. Ultimately our pitching couldn't hold up. Having Snell, Morton or Glasnow would've made a huge difference.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Heh with those 3 and this offense we might've won 105 or so and definitely this series. I guess Baz/McClanahan isn't so bad but I hope Glasnow is ready to go by summer. We need to go shopping for at least 1 more guy. We're not gonna do a whole lot better than .500 under the same circumstances as we played Boston. Our arms were spent and the rest of them were injuredKing Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 2:41 pm This hurt. This team had enough to go all the way. They underwhelmed in the worst way. Nice. He had a hell of a head start given his playoff performance last year.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Real chance he could actually stay a Ray long term depending on the stadium situation.
This is actually a great deal for him. He's 20 now and will be only 32 when this deal is up. He can easily cash in again provided he remains healthy. For now the $18mil+ a year he'll get in this deal will suffice.
Edit: updated numbers. So $16.5mil+ year over 11 years. So he'll be a FA when he's 31.

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
Dodgers or Cubs then. The thing is, not a lot of teams can afford to pay guys like this who are gonna sign mega deals and that's why they always get guys like this -not because their prospects are worth a shit. Make no mistake I'm glad this happened but I'm rather certain we're just gonna flake out in a few years with him like we did with Longoria.King Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 3:20 pmWe aren't trading him to the Yankees.Swashbuckler wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 2:04 pm I don't believe what I'm reading. This is literally too good to be true. To say we never do this is far from an exaggeration

Re: The Tampa Bay Rays
But you know what though? This means our window is wide open. I don't know what we're paying Randy but we need to keep him around long term. In his small sample size he's proven to be an elite playoff performer. Between those two and Meadows I think we can at least temporarily outscore a degree of our pitching problems
