The Bucs hopes for another Super Bowl this year are being dashed.
Blaine Gabbert is signing with the Chiefs!

Actually, the cap hits for Hurts (including his new deal) are relative peanuts, per Adam Schefter:Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:19 pm I also wonder if Devin’s problems aren’t all money related. His constant flirting with the Eagles has me wondering if this is just as much about being a front runner as it is money. He may not want to be part of the post Brady era. Because if that’s where he wants to go they definitely aren’t paying him what he wants after the Hurts contract.
Regardless him constantly fawning over the Eagles and their players on Instagram with green hearts is just weird behavior. Of all freakin teams too.
2023: $6.15 million
2024: $13.56 million
2025: $21.77 million
2026: $31.77 million
2027-2030 not gon' be fun with the HUGE amount of dead cap.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Cap will be far larger by then.
Looks like the Eagles doing it right. Yuck. Hopefully Hurts doesn't make the next leap.

The first two years arent as bad as I thought for sure. Still a risky move for them to throw 20 million at an inside linebacker that can’t cover anyone for the 6-8 sacks he might bring.acmillis wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:32 pmActually, the cap hits for Hurts (including his new deal) are relative peanuts, per Adam Schefter:Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:19 pm I also wonder if Devin’s problems aren’t all money related. Not many player for player swaps in the NFL. Like, ever.

Checkmate.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Only 21 times since 2020. Seven were straight up player for player with no draft picks involved. So yeah like never happens.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 6:46 pm Not many player for player swaps in the NFL. Like, ever.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
If by chance Jalen Carter drops to us at 19 - do we take him? Let the short takes fly..
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread

It’s pretty rare.

Agreed. He's a multigenerational talent. The only reason he even has a chance of lasting to 19 was because of his off field incident.

Looks like the Bucs and Eagles are the only two teams he's had official visits with...
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Which is kind of a reminder that you can't read too much into these things. I have a feeling he's fairly high on the other 30 draft boards as well. With a running back, it seems like you can probably know what you need to know with film and a chat with his college coach.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 11:43 pm

Comes off as a great kid. I hope he finds success on another team, just not ours.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 11:43 pm

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Sometime teams will meet with players they have no intention of drafting while not meeting with a player they intend to draft. It is all about misleading other NFL teams. Lets say the Vikings are interested in signing a RB, they don't want another team trading up ahead of them to take that RB.

Pre-Draft visits are pointless

I think teams use them to update their medical one last time, which is something. But the rest of it...yeah.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Visits are not the big tell people think. For one they are used to drop down a person just as much as move up. And are used on Day 2 and even 3 guys just as much as Day 1.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Outside of the covid years, when was the last time the Bucs used a first round pick on a guy they didn't do a top 30 visit with?
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Random thought that just floated into my head. These are the highest paid tackles in the league based on APY:
LT: Laremy Tunsil: 3 - 75 - 50 (the extension he just got)
RT: Jawaan Taylor: 4 - 80 - 40 (he's actually a few hundred grand behind Lane Johnson, but he just signed this deal so it felt more relevant)
I'm wondering if the Bucs are planning on moving Wirfs to Left Tackle, but want to get him locked up before they do so. Better to be negotiate against Taylor's number than Tunsil's.

I can't imagine Wirfs agent would allow the team to do him like that. It would seem petty to me.MJW wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 10:44 pm Random thought that just floated into my head. These are the highest paid tackles in the league based on APY:

NFL players aren't just big dumb loafs who add 2+2 and get 5. Their agents specifically aren't big dumb loafs.
You had better believe one of the 1st questions that will be answered during negotiations will be "Is my client going to play on the left or the right"?

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I don't think it's going to matter. They are going to ask for near record setting money because that's what he'd get on the market, regardless of side.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Ugh I think I’d rather have Baker Mayfield. No thank you.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Trading any future assets for a quarterback right now would get a No vote from me. Doubly so for Trey Lance.
