Panthers GM said he didn’t tell Young he’s the top pick
Young made the decision…

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I hope it's not Young.
With that said I think I've moved Jones and Johnson Jr into blue chip tier for the draft. Could even trade up.
But there are also some possible steller options in Round 2 as well if we miss out.

Thoughts on trading back with PHI to 31 and grabbing their extra 2024 2nd with whatever?
Makes sense - PHI in win NOW mode get 1 or 2 top dogs in 2023, TB in try to win now but could do well with extra 2024 picks
There will be talent we could use there at 31, gains us ammo in 2024.

Bijan if they pass at 10? Man, I’d rather just take him.
If the top 3 tackles, EDGE guys, and Bijan are gone I like a trade back. Don’t know who’s being moved up for though? Maybe the second tier QBs fall and someone wants to come up for Richardson or Levis.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
It was always gonna be Young. @MJW laid it out perfectly a few months ago, that there would be the usual ebbs and flows of draft season. Panthers would like this QB, then this one and then that one, New names would emerge and ultimately it would come back to Young.
That's exactly what happened. Richardson was mentioned as a possible #1 pick. Then Stroud. Then reports that Hooker was rates 3rd by a lot of teams.
But it was always gonna be Young. He's too good and his tape is far better than his peers.

When you draw a bunch of favorable comparisons to Patrick Mahomes it's gonna be like that.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 8:01 am It was always gonna be Young. @MJW laid it out perfectly a few months ago, that there would be the usual ebbs and flows of draft season. The walterfootball prospect visit list is an annual draft gold mine for this team. Particularly, I've noticed over the years that the Bucs draft between 1-3 guys who they have visited with at least twice. Here's the alphabetical list of the 16 prospects we've visited with more than twice this year, a peek into the guys who are on Licht's big board:
- Adetomiwa Adebawore, Defensive End, Northwestern
- Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Defensive End, Kansas State
- Julius Brents, Cornerback, Kansas State
- Sydney Brown, Safety, Illinois
- Trey Dean III, Safety, Florida
- Payne Durham, Tight End, Purdue
- Jahmyr Gibbs, Running Back, Alabama
- Anton Harrison, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma
- Hendon Hooker, Quarterback, Tennessee
- Roschon Johnson, Running Back, Texas
- Will Levis, Quarterback, Kentucky
- Will McDonald, Defensive End, Iowa State
- Ventrell Miller, Inside Linebacker, Florida
- Nolan Smith, Outside Linebacker, Georgia
- Clayton Tune, Quarterback, Houston
- Darnell Wright, Offensive Tackle, Tennessee

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
If we draft one of those first two dudes and then pair them up with Tryon-Shoyinka we’ll at least be able to win the longest name competitions.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Why does CJ Stroud play like complete shit under pressure?
Welp…
Welp…
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
It's a relatively new test, certainly not like the Wonderlic. But scoring a result in the teens in any exam when your contemporaries are in getting in the 90s ain't good.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Who is Bob?
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
And Stroud thought he was going #1, could be this years Rodgers. Do you take him at 19?
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Understand it's hypothetical, but I don't buy for a nanosecond he goes through any real freefall.
Rodgers...2005...that was weird. There just weren't many teams that needed quarterbacks...Rodgers had questions about his resume...and until HE broke it, the belief in the Tedford Curse was quite real.
Whoever is leaking these test results to Bob McGinn is undoubtedly one of the 12 or so teams in the top 20 that needs a QB.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Oof.
Probably, yeah I would. Look at it this way: He has Baker’s great arm + Trask’s size and he’s way more athletic than either. The decision-making stuff is almost always a gamble. Either it’ll click, or it won’t.
He’s played hurt. He bounced around in college, that didn’t do him many favors. He played at UKY, and as an alum I hate to say it, but he was surrounded by mediocre coaching and talent.
I wouldn’t rush him. But I think the upside of him hitting >> whatever CB/RB/OT they may take at 19.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
And while I’m not the biggest fan of drafting to scheme… especially for a HC that has to be on the hot seat…Levis’s brand of football sure seems like a fit for the new OC than the current lot. Get him moving in space.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
@Snake are you talking about Stroud or Levis? I personally don't think they should take a QB at all this year unless it's like 5th round late.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Sorry, i meant Levis.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 10:33 am @Snake are you talking about Stroud or Levis? I personally don't think they should take a QB at all this year unless it's like 5th round late.
Though I’d say the same for Stroud.

Alrighty then: I think he will definitely be drafted. So I will thinkI of some terms and you do the same. I will meet you back here when I come up with something.
Bennet gets drafted (and he will) you get rid of #trash and put my sig pic as your sig until the 1st day of the season.
I will do the same for yours
And if either of us does not honor this bet we do not post in any forum until day 1 of the season under our name or any bi-post name
I said what I said

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I would prefer the Buccaneers take Stetson Bennett over Stroud. In reality, take an OT and see what you got. Don't waste a pick on one of the QBs in this draft.

At an average of 8 minutes between picks in the 1st round, you can tune in around 10:30 tonight to see the Bucs #19 pick provided they don’t trade out of their spot. I’ll be fast asleep by then.
Don't tread on me
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I think Bo Nix is somebody that could run this offense pretty well.
