Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Rookie contracts are pretty pre-set, so he'll cost the same as any rookie we take with the pick.
Also, toy is an odd way to describe a focal point of an offense.
Was Marshall Faulk a toy?
Was Marshawn Lynch a toy?
LT or AP or Henry?

Maybe they were bought when their team could afford it..

Alabama players get hollywood praise and then turn out to be not such great actors.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Do you think we're giving Bijan a $100M deal or something?
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Robinson better be the next AD with how y’all like to talk him up.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I have zero issue taking Bijan. He's one of the few blue chip players in the draft and if destined to be a star in the league. The Bucs need SOMETHING to be excited about when watching the team on Sundays and Bijan is that type of player.
We can still improve the oline while adding Robinson in the first. He and White could instantly form the best backfield in the league and could take a ton of pressure of whoever wins the QB comp.
He just makes it look so effortless. He doesn't even look like he's trying to run fast. His cutting ability and vision are unparalleled in the draft and the least currently. He's great as a receiver and pass blocker.
He's truly an elite prospect and we'd be crazy to pass on him in favor of a B- tackle.

Have we had a defensive tackle get to the quarterback before Vea gets there? And most of the time Vea doesnt do it nearly enough.
Licht is going to do it how he wants but I'm darn sure I'm going to let the offense only group know my direction.

Plus, you are advocating for picking 1 player between 82 and 175 when we need them.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I totally agree we need more pass rush and not just our own guys getting healthy. But that doesn't mean we should force it into the first, especially when it means passing over a possible HoF. Yeah, silly to use the term when talking about a prospect, but if ever there was a time to use it it's now. There is just something about how he plays the game that is different.
Plus this class has a lot of Day 2 pass rush talent.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Personally, I don't really give a shit about the defense this year. I cannot watch another 18ppg season. I just can't. Also, this year is kind of on Bowles imo. He contributes nothing to the offense. He's not an energetic or charismatic leader that's going to have guys running through walls for him. His only use to the team is his supposed defensive expertise
So you know what? He's gotta earn his keep this year. He has Vea, Hall, Shaq, JTS, White, LVD, CD3, Dean, and AWJ to work with. That's a solid core of defensive players. And if he can't coach and scheme his way to at least a top 12 or 14 defense with those players, then he's simply not earning his keep. I can promise you Bill Belichick could turn our nucleus on defense into a unit that's at bare minimum not a liability to the team
So yeah, this year needs to be about getting the offense out of the stone age and at least watchable again. Because I tell you what, I'd rather watch us die by the sword 34-37 than whatever the fuck last year's offense was. I simply refuse to sacrifice my precious time to a team that has to try really fucking hard just to get a couple first downs and a long FG attempt.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
It was the QB that couldnt play with our offense - he had to bring in key players he felt could make it work.
Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Dammit BnB, you finally say something we agree on and then you got to follow it up with that nonsense.
Okay, so Bowles needs to do the same thing he's done for three years to "earn his keep" for not being a publicly energetic coach. Ok pal.

Byron Leftwich is gone my dude, and Todd Bowles did not coordinate our offense last year.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:34 pm Personally, I don't really give a shit about the defense this year. Imo, the strength of this team is the defense, and if we can play some semblance of smart, complimentary football so they aren't forced to carry the team, I think we have a strong enough core of players on both sides of the ball to quickly become a competitive team again.
As far as what draft resources should go where, I don't think we need to devote all of our resources to either side of the ball. There are plenty of snaps to allocate yet.

That draft where we trade up and Skoronski/Branch are both available at 19. Oof.

Welp you will be seeing Stetson Bennet playing on Sundays in the future so never bet against him. His story is fantastic and honestly, that arm tho.
That's the only way a slow severely undersized QB is playing on Sunday's. And I mean severely undersized. Makes Kyler Murray look like Daunte Culpepper.
Kid won't even be drafted in April.

Given four hitches in a pat-and-go drill, most people in this thread could uncork a few zingers given adequate training.
NFL history is littered with the careers of strong-armed losers, and imo it's the most overrated aspect of quarterbacking. I hope Levis' new team is enamored by it though, and I hope they pick him before #19 overall.

Baker mayfield throws it faster than Levis, for what it’s worth.
He was over 60 mph at the combine.
Levis, 59.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
I didn't know Levis had four different OCs and systems during his college career. He's also played in pro style offenses.
I like QBa that have had to struggle and deal with adversity in college. You doing get that at Ohio State or Alabama.
Is anyone but Levis even in the draft for Kentucky?
If he's there at 19, I'd pull the trigger. Let be and Baker duke it out with no pressure of having to start Levis in 2023. Baker would feel pretty motivated to look good as a Buc because he knows he's not the long term answer here and will essentially be playing for his career as a starter going forward.
He'll likely be gone by 19 anyway so it's almost certainly a moot point.

Re: ***Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread***
Levis would be Josh Freeman-esque.
No QBs this year. They need to put as many positive talented pieces around this Trask/Baker combo and see what they’ve got. No excuses.
Ultimately, I imagine they’re hoping the former #1 overall can revive his career with a solid year and then you can go into 2024 with him on a franchise tag and another cheap year of Trask.
By then the books are clear.

Not to mention the 2024 draft is likely to be loaded with QB prospects.
