The Washington Post says that Jonah Williams had 20.5 sacks allowed in the past three years. PFF says 23. The Bengals fan at work says 12.

I really liked Jonah coming out of college, but he gets Joey Burrow hit and sacked alot. Apparently he was playing injured last year but was beat like a drum on a weekly basis. And his rookie contract is about to expire.

Maybe we offer up one of our sixth rounders, but likely no. Thanks but no.

I get that, but I also just don’t get how they plan to compete this year with the OL in the shape it’s in. Even with a first round rookie, we are in rough shape. Especially if our best lineman is having to play a new position.

I like our offensive line
I’m glad someone does at least.

I imagine opposing defenses also like our Oline.

Williams would fit our scheme better IMO.

But I didn't know he was on a 1 year $12mil option. That diminishes his value so. So I'd agree with @Cheb and offer a 6th or so. If he pans out great. Let him sign a long term deal in 24 and get the comp pick.

Can rookie deals have void years added on? If so, that could solve his bigger 2023 cap hit. If not, and we have to do like a full contract extension, he's going to want a payday and I can't imagine extending a tackle on our team before Wirfs.

Goddamn. Gronk just killed defenses up the seam that year.
That was a fun watch.

I have to say, I've really grown to like the red jersey/pewter pants combo.

Mike Edwards is a Chief. Interesting to see how we address safety, you’d think we draft someone but I wonder if a cheap veteran is in the cards. Maybe Logan Ryan would come back if he isn’t getting any big offers?

Maybe we try Zyon at safety. Would be nice to see his crazy athleticism on the field.

With his athleticism, it would be cool to see him in coverage as AWJr played going towards the LOS.

No idea if he has the instincts. I’m skeptical.

Didn’t give enough credence to the loss of Gronk in 2022.

I'd assume our first round pick is either him, an OT, or an edge.

If we draft Branch, I don't know if we keep him at nickel or bump him up to safety. He was primarily a slot defender in college. I think that's his best spot as a pro, but then that begs the question of what we do with him in base defense. Move him back to safety with Winfield? That's what we did with AWJ last year and he regressed a bit as a part-safety-part-nickel.

He's a good player though. Would love to have him.

It's spilled milk at this point, but this is exactly why Licht and Bowles needed to go after the season. Their personal interests and motivations do not align with the best interests of the team on a long-term basis.

They're trying to eek out as many wins as possible, even if that's to the detriment of the team.

We can only hope that their efforts are in vain and we still only end up winning 1 or 2 games so we can finally get a young QB that's capable of competing with the current crop of street ballers that are breaking the NFL.
That's ridiculous. Every coach and GM is out there trying to win as many games as possible.

There is no "we have no intention of winning" in the national football league on a season to season basis. I promise you that if you tank for the #1 pick as a strategy for the season, someone else will be making that pick for you.

Licht and Bowles are trying to field the best damned football team they can with the resources they have because that's their job.

Yes your negatively has so much in common with Jesus. In fact I am stunned that more posters don’t draw that obvious parallel on the daily.

I actually wouldn't mind a 1st round Cornerback either. I really like Emmanuel Forbes and think he is a ball hawk. Your Nickelback is a starter these days and if Dean or Davis go down he could step up on the outside. Plus with how much money we have invested in the top two guys it would be nice to have a slot corner that talented on a cheap rookie deal for 4 years.

Branch is an absolute stud.

Seems like, based on need (since that's certain to be our biggest consideration), Tackle, Safety, and Defensive Line seem like the most likely directions.

Unfortunately Licht is extremely predictable when it comes to the draft as he almost exclusively chases need so you can accurately guess who we'll draft by looking at draft sites and seeing what they list as a need for the team.

He also locks onto players and doesn't consider the majority draft consensus on them so he will often reach for a player(see jts, Logan Hall, Trash).

Personally I would try to use at least our first two picks on players that could push a position group on the team towards elite status. Maybe try to establish a clear identity for the team.

I have a short list of players I'd like but I have no real hope of Licht picking them so they're not even worth mentioning.

We need the best player to align with the need.

I would expect one of the tackles or an Edge defender.

Any reason why they’re waiting to release SUCCOP? His cap hit is $4.5M and only $750k if released.

This guy is a solid player, interested in seeing the money. Definitely continues the trend of Bowles wanting the spendings directed towards defense.

I’d bet about tree fiddy this draft will be some combination of RB, OL, and DB with the Bucs first 3 picks.

Maybe swap out a secondary player for a WR, depending.

Funny you say that, because Gaines and Vea were roommates in college at Washington and played on the DL together there.

I wonder how much Vita Vea recruited him here or vouched for him. I wouldn't be surprised about it, for sure. Seems like a good player.
