Yeah, It’s not like teams are releasing PR statements on this. It’s “team sources say” type of stuff.
It's more likely to me than half the NFC South kicking the tires on a league MVP QB and saying "nah". Especially after watching the Bucs do it and win it all.
Don't be naive. Ask yourself why DeCosta felt confident enough to grant him a non-exclusive tag, and within an hour of the tag being placed, something like a half dozen teams announce they have no interest. The second the NFLPA began whispering in Jackson's ear, you knew there would be a response. This is (part of) that response.

Did those teams actually “announce” anything?

Anyways, Lamar needs to be somewhat realistic about this deal. If fully guaranteed is the goal, it’s not happening.

There’s a better chance of Tom Brady returning and signing with the Colts than Lamar Jackson coming here. It’s not even worth thinking about. We are more focused on the mighty Drew Lock and Baker Mayfield.

The same sources that announced Geno Smith & Derek Carr's contracts announced that these teams weren't interested.

Would you say they were less credible yesterday?

One team did. The rest used the usual suspect reporters.

Plausible deniability if you ask me, yet the message was sent.

If the Bucs were to go all in on Lamar with a fully guaranteed contract, couldn’t the deal be spread out to be as cap friendly as we’d like/need?

If that were the case, one would presume that another team who had a hope of affording him would have tried that.

Assume for a moment the rumor that he could have played in the playoffs but chose not to, why the holy hell would anyone ever guarantee that kind of money and enable and reward that kind of behavior? And IF that rumor is true and IF if they do guarantee a stupid amount, then they get exactly what they deserve, because THAT kind of lack integrity cannot be coached out or bought out.

This is hilarious. Bootz was the one arguing earlier in this season that you shouldn't believe what you read from media members on Twitter because they can't be taken as facts...and now....floppin like a fish. Never change, @Bootz !

Ravens have no leverage here. They would've hit him with the exclusive tag. Teams have no incentive to negotiate with them at all. Lamar will have his pick of team now and it'll only cost 2 1sts. By contrast, the Browns sent Cleveland 3 1sts, a 3rd and 2 4ths for Deshaun Watson.

Baltimore gets Donkey of the year already
Agreed. That's why they used the non-exclusive tag. That way they are guaranteed two 1sts.

It’s not us. There are very few gaurantees in life. Well, Lamar not coming here is one of those guarantees. We can’t even afford to pay our ball boy….how tf we gonna pay for Lamar? We may not even to be able to afford Drew Lock.

Honestly 2 first rounders for Lamar doesn’t seem all that crazy

Russel Wilson cost 2 firsts and 2 seconds.

I wouldn’t cry if we gave him a long ass deal to spread the cap hit.

It's not a crazy cost. This is about the precedent of fully guaranteed deals. Clearly, owners have talked about how bad that would be for them. So much so they've coordinated this little show against the NFLPA and Lamar.

But it just takes one owner, one GM, to break ranks and do what must be done.
I doubt it's us, but I'd love it to be. For those saying we have no money, we have no money THIS season. It really isn't as hard as some think to structure a contract that is huge and fully guaranteed but set to be a low cap hit for this one year.

Jay Cutler cost the Bears 2 1sts, a 3rd, and a QB in 2010.

Deshaun Watson cost the Browns 3 1sts, a 3rd & 2 4ths in 2022.

Lamar is absolutely worth 2 1sts.

For those that don't believe Jackson can be added to our team, I'll prove it with Over the Cap. This is what our cap looks like with just signing Jackson to a 5 year, $250mil, fully guaranteed contract:
► Show Spoiler
Pretty scary stuff, right? Well, after cutting Lenny, Brate, Succup, and Gage(all likely or already real cuts), along with the magic of proration, we then arrive at the following:
► Show Spoiler
So, not only can we afford it, we have enough for our draft, and maybe even a few misc signings here and there to shore up the roster. We absolutely CAN make Jackson work without devastating our cap or the future. It's just a matter of choice by Licht and the Glazers. That's it. If those two decide that they want Jackson, we can have him as a Buc the second FA starts.

Texans’ OC Bobby Slowik says 49ers’ QB Jimmy Garoppolo is on their radar as they evaluate the quarterback market in free agency.

“We have a process (with) everything we go through. Jimmy is obviously part of that process. He's going to be a free agent. We have conversations. Nick and DeMeco lay out a plan. We'll see where that takes us,” Slowik said of Garoppolo.

Texans’ HC DeMeco Ryans and Slowik have obvious ties to Garoppolo from their time in San Francisco and could pursue him on the open market.

Texans’ GM Nick Caserio was the Patriots’ director of player personnel when Garoppolo was drafted in 2014, so that’s another established relationship that could factor into the team’s plan at quarterback.

Garoppolo, 31, threw for 2,437 pass yards, 16 TDs, and 4 INTs to go along with a 67.2 CMP % in 11 games and 10 starts last season.
