There could be a player like Broderick Jones (better run blocker) or Anton Harrison (better pass blocker) available at #19.Jonny wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 11:49 am Could any of the draftniks here enlighten me if the draft class is good for offensive linemen? Interesting, Per Stroud during this interview, the Glazers are wanting to stay relavent and are looking to "Swing for the Fences" with QB:

Counterpoint: He sucked when he did play. We can save a straight up $10 mil, as opposed to being on the hook to pay him MORE money when we will need it to sign actual players.Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:38 pm Slow down MJW. Gage got beat the fuck up for us this year, literally ending up in the hospital. Dude makes a super average $10M, which is less than Tim Patrick, Curtis Samuel, and Michael Gallup and right there with the MVS's and Charks of the world.
So unless you are suggesting that Gage is now injury prone (missed 2 games in 3 years before coming here) or he's faking it to just laugh his way to the bank, Gage will probably be restructured as opposed to cut.

To be fair, in order to win rings, don't you have to be relevant first?MJW wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:29 pm"Relevant" is code for "Selling T-Shirts."BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:22 pm Interesting, Per Stroud during this interview, the Glazers are wanting to stay relavent and are looking to "Swing for the Fences" with QB:

I mean, they certainly weren't irrelevant. They had a Manning under center, and their defense was making noise. Then they pushed the Patriots to their limit in the regular season which proved to be a preview of what was to come in the SB.Puss in Boots wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 7:11 pmWere the 2011 giants relevant?BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:39 pm

Edit: oops, just noticed I may have confused 2011 with 2007. Either way they weren't an irrelevant football team.

Any team in New York makes the playoffs, they are automatically relevant.

All will have to meet the established NFL veterans they will face.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Give me Derrick Carr and Monkin. Build on that
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Build on what?
A failed QB that couldn’t get his team to accomplish anything at any time
Combined with a failed NFL OC riding on being part of the most talented roster in CFB
You REALLY think that’s best for the future of this team?

It was a confusing acquisition, my guess is Tom mentioned him after the AB thing so Licht made it happen.MJW wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:26 pmCounterpoint: He sucked when he did play. I’m not going to advocate for Carr, but Matthew Stafford was a “failure” for a long time too. Until he wasn’t.

Maybe we should move Smith inside to LG? He was projected to be a guard anyway and many of his issues are really revealing themselves on the outside. Perhaps at LG he can reinvent himself and fill a huge void on the Oline.

I mean, if we retain him which there's a good chance we do, he's going to be paid one way or the other. If he earns his keep at LG much more so while filling a hole, then what difference does it make?Buc2 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:25 amA LG at his salary?BucsNBills wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:22 am Maybe we should move Smith inside to LG? Way I see it, we keep him, let him stay at tackle and hope for the best. Cut him, and then have to draft a guard and LT, or shift him inside, leaving only LT to fill in the draft.

We should move Smith to LG because his college scouting report from 8+ years ago said he would be a guard?

Of course. Glazers got a taste of GOAT milk and realized how important a great QB is.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 6:22 pm Interesting, Per Stroud during this interview, the Glazers are wanting to stay relavent and are looking to "Swing for the Fences" with QB:
Carr is an upgrade over Trask. Not a swing for the fences.
Mayfield is not a swing for the fences.
Lamar definitely is. He will come at a salary and asset premium.

As is Aaron Rodgers. Looking at his contract, he'd be very affordable with a trade considering what we'd be getting. I hope we scratch the surface there.Snake wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:51 amOf course. From my understanding, unless the Packers and Rodgers rework his deal, they basically have to wait for a post June 1 trade where the cap hit is much more bearable.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:05 amAs is Aaron Rodgers. And if Over the Cap is correct, adding Rodgers to the roster via trade only has like a $15mil or so cap liability for 2023.
Assuming that happens, we get a full 2023 draft class and could add Rodgers to a(hopefully) improved roster and playcaller.
How many wins you think we get with Rodgers and a better roster? 10? is 12 too many you think?

Wouldn’t we be giving up heavy draft capital? I’m fine with giving up 2023 picks but idk if giving up a 2024 pick for a QB who could retire any season is wise

I'm also assuming that you can't trade 2023 draft picks for a Post june 1 transaction.Sdbucs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:44 amWouldn’t we be giving up heavy draft capital? Nearly every trade/release executed in the NFL is designated as a post June 1st move. Kind of an unwritten sportsmanship rule between NFL franchises.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:43 amFrom my understanding, unless the Packers and Rodgers rework his deal, they basically have to wait for a post June 1 trade where the cap hit is much more bearable.King Bootz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:05 am

We'd have to exercise a $58mil option, which would be split over 4 years. Add in his $1.1mil base salary and a $50k workout bonus, we'd be getting a top QB for peanuts. I think we could win 10+ games with him at QB. He can make plays under duress that Brady simply could not and I think he would definitely be all-in here.

Correct. If that June 1 rule was actually implemented in the way it was designed, you'd probably never see trades in the NFL.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:53 amHmm, I had no idea about that. Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I remember a time where teams would have to wait until literally June 1st to release players. It was almost like a 2nd chance free agency period.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I like that plan. Monken and Mayfield for a year or two before trading for a double franchise tagged Lamar Jackson.
I can hear Caleb lovers heads exploding.
