Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I've said it before, I'll say it again. I'd much rather swallow two awful end-of-the-line seasons from Brady, than abandon him even a sliver too soon. And as bad as last season was, he wasn't awful.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Question... How many games has Tua missed du to injury in the last three years?
Now, how many has Brady missed?
If Tua's injuries are due to poor pass protection, do you think Brady would ever want to go to that scenario?

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Tua is just brittle.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Tua does need to learn how to take a hit. He rag dolls.
Brady will do for their OL what he did for ours. Also, it's not ideal, but he doesn't have many ideal choices. The only two in 2020 were SF and TB, we won. Yay. Not all that much has changed. Jets and Fins are consolations, indeed. Titans even more so.

Looks like about 16 games.
Brady - none.

I wonder if Purdy's injury changes the 49ers calculus. I am hearing there is a chance he is not ready to go for the start of next season.Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 7:15 pm Tua does need to learn how to take a hit. He rag dolls.

We can get Into the details about orthopedics and his injuries and all that.
The fact is, they need an upgrade at QB regardless

Trying to decipher the point you're making here.Snake wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 5:31 pmThe patriots went 10 years between Super Bowls as one point.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:07 pm Each year Tom has been here the team is getting progressively worse as we also simultaneously dig a deeper future salary cap hole trying to put talent around him.
The sooner you end that process the sooner you can recover.

I think his point is that there was no shortage of people who were banging the drum to move on from Tom during those ten years.
Some forget that before Tom reset the bar back 10 years people were generally talking "QB transition" at around the 30 y/o mark.
Tom was 31 when he tore his ACL and Pats saw their back up lead them to the playoffs (more "system" talk).

They didn't make the playoffs with Cassel, but otherwise I agree. 10-6 with no playoffs, much like our 2010 season.Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 1:34 pm I think his point is that there was no shortage of people who were banging the drum to move on from Tom during those ten years.

Edit: 11-5 and no playoffs, actually.

So are we thinking 50 is the new 30 then? We should keep Tom, because we might see the Super Bowl again with him in 2031 because the Pats had 10 years between Super Bowls?Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 1:34 pm I think his point is that there was no shortage of people who were banging the drum to move on from Tom during those ten years.

We got really lucky with health in 2020. That luck ran out big time in subsequent years. This team really needs to hit the reset button. I honestly don't see any scenario with another Tom Brady led championship season here in 2023 or beyond with the free agents and cap situation right now.

That's fine if you don't. BB didn't see it and he was wrong in NE. Many didn't see it when he came here.

See what? What am I missing? We just went 8-9 and got boat raced in the first round of the playoffs. Did Tom Brady not start every game at QB?
What are we going to do this off-season that somehow gets us in a position to make a run next season?

With Brady retiring, our cap situation improved quite a bit, going from -$55mil in cap space to about -$30m. Overall, this was best for everyone involved.

That's great news! $30 is still a mountain but it got much easier to navigate.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:30 am With Brady retiring, our cap situation improved quite a bit, going from -$55mil in cap space to about -$30m. Overall, this was best for everyone involved.

TFW you realize that Kyle Trask is the only active QB on your roster.

While I'm not optimistic about the 2023 season, I'm happier going into the season with the Bucs QB situation than the other 3.

All of this makes the decision to let Trask only get 2-3 meaningless series in that week 18 game even more dubious. Why didn't Trask just start that thing?
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
It's a "tallest midget" kinda thing, but sure. Trask is the highest drafted youngster in that bunch, and we don't have any cap space tied up in a shitty 2015 top two draft pick.CannonFire wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:35 amWhile I'm not optimistic about the 2023 season, I'm happier going into the season with the Bucs QB situation than the other 3.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I do wonder how our offense would function with a QB who has escapability. Not goofy like what Winston had, more fluid and coordinated.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Sure...let's get a QB with "escapability" and give Licht more reason to keep Mr. McPenalty at left tackle.
Don't tread on me

2022 Buccaneers Ranked By How Shocked I'd Be/Have Been If They Were Here In 2023:
1) Byron Leftwich. There was no fucking way, no matter how much BA pouted, this asshole was going to be part of the 2023 team.
2) Donovan Smith. Arguably the worst entrenched/unchallenged left tackle in the NFL last season, and a huge cap savings to fuck off.
3) Cameron Brate. Kinda mean, but just sayin'.
4) Russell Gage. Stealin' money.
5) Tom Brady. I just couldn't see him coming back to this mess.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Could any of the draftniks here enlighten me if the draft class is good for offensive linemen? It seems like we still need a Guard despite Goedeke, having seen him be disastrous every time he took the field. And obviously we also need an upgrade to Smith, whether it be a LT or a RT.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Slow down MJW. Gage got beat the fuck up for us this year, literally ending up in the hospital. Dude makes a super average $10M, which is less than Tim Patrick, Curtis Samuel, and Michael Gallup and right there with the MVS's and Charks of the world.
So unless you are suggesting that Gage is now injury prone (missed 2 games in 3 years before coming here) or he's faking it to just laugh his way to the bank, Gage will probably be restructured as opposed to cut.

Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
There’s this QB at USC that’s pretty good at that
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
There's also one in Baltimore. What's your point?
